The only decent, inexpensive restaurant in Pensacola that I've found. Having moved from San Francisco, I'm used to an abundance of fresh, reasonably priced food, so I was appalled to receive so much fresh from the can fare at Pensacola brunch restaurants---and for $15 an entree no less. I have all kinds of food restrictions and so many servers here have had to check the "ingredient list" to tell me if the food has tomatoes or some such other food in it---at Ruby Slipper they check with the chef. And the chef is capable of modifying the dish appropriately, since it doesn't come pre-made and frozen. Plus they offer a sizable a la cart menu, so you can put together your own meal if you wish. But the thing I really love about this restaurant is that the food is just exactly what you expect when you read the menu. It's made from scratch using quality ingredients and everything tastes fresh. Plus they give you time to sit and relax--no trying to take your plate the second you pause between bites. Oh and the Gulf Fish St Peter is fantastic and the coffee is good and mellow---rich, full body, low acidity, yum. read more

My husband and I are here for the first time. Very nice spot to eat at. As a first time guest, we didn't expect to see servers dressed like they just got out of bed. Price point and quality of the food definitely doesn't match the dress code; however we really did enjoy our meals... oh and it's 44° and windy outside....please turn the ceiling fans off!! Like the Ruby Slippers in NOLA, this restaurant really hits the spot if you're a breakfast lover. A lot of people don't notice the place because of its location and lack of curb appeal but once you step inside you can immediately see that it's just about never empty. It isn't as good as the magazine street Ruby Slipper but it's certainly a big step up from the big chains here in Pensacola. Try just about any of the specials and you will be happy. We have been putting off giving this place a try until after the tourist summer season ends. So today with Labor Day past, we gave it a try for breakfast. Now for the qualifier. Because of extremely heavy business over the Labor Day weekend, they were out of a lot of the items on the menu. With that in mind, my wife and I both decided on the Southern Breakfast. The breakfast overall was pretty good. Two eggs cooked as ordered, two pieces of applewood smoked bacon, a bowl of stone ground grits, a fried green tomato and a cathead biscuit. Everything was very good. Mikey, our server was very good and friendly. We do plan to go back again, hopefully when they have all the item on the menu available. Having eaten at the one in New Orleans, this one may not be quite as good, but certainly by Pensacola standards, very good indeed. read more

I am so happy that I randomly found this place while searching on Yelp. We went last weekend for breakfast and it was delicious. My iced tea was great, fruit was perfect and pancakes were so big I couldn't eat them all. My partner got eggs cochon and she could barely finish half. $10 is pricey for a mimosa but they were donating $1 from every one sold to the Louisiana flood victims so that was worth it :) Our server was great and I feel bad I can't remember his name. The only thing I give 4 stars for is because there are not enough tables inside. We had to sit outside if we wanted to eat anytime soon and it was so hot, never again during the summer lol read more

Not impressed... we really wanted to like it. But, sadly, the food was mediocre, at best. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich... the chicken seemed to be 1-2 days old and was extremely dry. The toasted bread was burnt and hard as a rock, to the point even our waiter felt it. ‍ My husband ordered the brioche french toast, added strawberries and a side of scrambled eggs. Strawberries were $2.00 and he received 2 small sized strawberries... He stated the French toast seemed to be barely dipped in the egg batter mixture since there was zero within the center, and tasted primarily of cinnamon. The eggs had a pungent smell and taste. My toddler had the little champion with scrambled eggs, bacon and a biscuit. She also refused to eat the eggs. Her biscuit was bland and half was too hard to eat. I recently moved out here and happened upon this brunch spot. Sat at the bar instantly instead of doing the hour wait to be being properly seated. Went on a Tuesday and we were sat immediately. Very friendly hostesses. Waitress came immediately and we were served out water and $10 mimosas quickly. Although the mimosas were doubles, we were quite shocked by the price. I had the southern breakfast. Eggs were runny, fried green tomato tasted like it was frozen, buttermilk biscuit was goos, but needs to be toasted. Got fruit instead of grits. Waitress didn't offer more drinks and didn't check on us. Just all around bad experience. I hope you all have a better time than us. read more

This was an excellent morning breakfast. Besides being one of a couple of places open before 10 am on a Sunday morning. While busy was seated immediately. The food. The food was amazing. Got a salmon omelet that was out of this world. The rest of the table loved their food also. One bite only for sharing because everyone was carefully guarding their own plate. The pricing is about what you would expect from a boutique breakfast. $10-$15 per person. And keep an eye out on drinks, they were higher than normal. We've been to the Ruby Slipper about eight times in the past year and this was the first time it wasn't excellent. The music was so loud that you almost had to shout to the person next to you, although the volume was turned down when requested. My omelet was not hot, just warm. The corn beef hash was dry and tasteless and I won't get that again. The experience was a little disappointing. read more

This is one of my family's FAVORITE restaurants in Downtown Pensacola- the biscuits are fresh every day! Everything on the menu is excellent! Ruby slipper is always our first choice for breakfast & brunch. We especially love all their bennies & the Bananas Foster is incredible!!! My teenage daughter & I always split an order to go with our meals. They have THE BEST fried green tomatoes of any restaurant in the area. It's a little bit noisy in the restaurant & the seating a a bit uncomfortable, but the food, staff & vibe are worth it. I highly recommend! read more

The lines out the door is deceiving... this place is nasty. I had a hair in my food, and all they did was not charge me for the biscuit that had the hair in it. Divinely Delicious Decadence! Our first visit to The Ruby Slipper and boy did it blow our socks off. We had the Boogaloo Shrimp, the Cochon and the Chicken St Charles. All were simply fantastic. Good place to catch breakfast or brunch. The restaurant uses No Wait, so you can get in line from an app on your phone on the way, reducing the wait time if there is any. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is satisfying, but nothing mind-blowing. I've gotten the Fire-Braised Turkey & Bacon Sandwich and the Stuffed French Toast previously. They do make good mimosas, with lots of options to choose from. The Fresh Berry Mimosa was a nice alternative to regular OJ. There are also seasonal flavors for menu items such as french toast and pancakes, such as Blueberry Cheesecake and Salted Caramel, which changes things up a bit. read more
