Bottom line: This location of Ruckus in Apex has had up and down experiences for me, with the latest one for lunch ending up pretty good. I can say around 3.5 stars for these guys overall. The Deets: I've been to this location of Ruckus a few times. I have to admit that it's been hit or miss. Some times pre-pandemic I've had a few service hiccups when sitting at a table/outside, but I had pretty good luck with sitting at the bar. Past trips would include being abandoned at the table, long waits for items to come, etc. I had a pretty 2 star-ish impression with past visits. Recently, I had a better visit around lunch time, with a larger group. Our server did well, getting drink orders out, taking orders etc. Ruckus has a wide selection and great variety on their menu...sandwiches, pasta, pizza, sushi, burgers, etc. My choices included a Turkey Guac BLT sandwich on ciabatta, fries on the side, and one slice of cheese pizza. The sandwich was pretty good, not over the top but the sandwich and fries both did hit the spot for lunch. The cheese pizza slice was good. It had thin crust which I favor but wish it had been less "floppy" for lack of a better term. Again, it did the trick for lunch. We did have a little bit of trouble getting all the checks straightened out but all was solved in good time. I'd have to say this visit was more towards 3.5-4 stars, and averaging in all trips I would go with around 3.5 stars in total for this location of Ruckus. read more

A few weeks ago I took my daughter to celebrate her birthday with my friend and her daughter. We had a BOGO free entree coupon so we ordered four items to split plus two kids meals. The food was delicious and came out fast. Our waitress was young but good at her job. We sat on the outdoor patio which was crowded but nice. The nachos are huge! The sushi is yummy! The burger was so good (we split it) it The kids meals are a great deal. I think it was around $5 and included the drink. Just moved to area and dealing with boxes. Saw Ruckus next to Costco. Ordered pickup, ready when told. Got home and noticed large portions. We had buffalo chicken dip wontons which were good for me but a little too spicy for my wife. Cheeseburger was large enough to split, seasoned chips were good. We attended Ruckus' Dinner with Grinch & I've thought this over for several days about our experience because I didn't want to give it an unsatisfactory review immediately. Well...the buffet event deserves 1-0 stars for the following reasons. 1. Ruckus is known as a pizza restaurant. There were 2, yes only 2! pizzas brought out around 6:15pm, and no other pizzas arrived until around 7pm. All pizza was gone by the time we made it to the buffet. We got some institutional plain meatballs, a little tossed salad, and pasta (it was tasty). On this cold night there were no warm beverages available (no tea, no coffee, no hot chocolate...none). 4. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were no table decorations, no fun Grinchy coloring sheets & crayons for the kids -- only a Grinch throne in the corner & a few signs against the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 5. Wings! I stopped in after visiting Costco...so you know it's right next to it. It was late so they only had fried items... limited kitchen staff. That's ok, I got wings and the best chili ever... I had a gift card for here and decided to go in for lunch. I had tried a sandwich and a pasta dish from another location that I did not like, so decided to try a pizza. I got the one where you pick 6 toppings. I chose the marinara sauce, the buffalo mozzarella, meatball, ground beef, spinach, black olives and fresh basil. The pizza came out in a reasonable time and was hot. I was offered cheese, pepper flakes and oregano so I chose the oregano. I was wondering what the thin strings were on top, so as I remembered what I ordered, the only thing that I could figure out was they had cut very thin pieces of spinach and put it on. Very strange. Also, there was so little ground beef I thought it was missing. The meatball was on it, but was very dry. Oh well, the cheese was good.....It's so sad that some people think this is good pizza when there are so many other places that do it so much better. I actually feel sorry for them. It is not possible to enter multiple GC when you online, so you end up calling the local Restaurant to place the order for carryout. We got a Spicy Alfredo Entree and added Chicken to it. Not only the prices was higher from online, but for $5.99, you get 6 individual chicken pieces / strip that were not more than bite size. I understand prices have gone up due to Inflation, but for $5.99 it just didn't seem value for money. The prices that show up on the Menu are not the same when you actually go pick them up. In fact, each entree was at least $2+ more, no matter if it is Pasta / Sushi or wings. Prices online do not reflect what you will end up paying when you actually go pick up the food. I did bring it up to the cashier and she shrugged it off as it is what it is. I should have asked for manager, but as I said they were already so busy and didn't wanted to wait. Ruckus unfortunately looks like it has bad reviews, but it was packed even on a week night so the reviews are clearly not a true depiction of this restaurant. We have lived in apex for 2 years and have never been. I love bar food and a relaxed atmosphere with a wide selection of local beers so it was a good fit. The food was really good (presently surprised by the chips). Our server was very friendly and overall really had no complaints. We will definitely be back! One thing I really liked was that they have pasta- my husband loves pasta but I don't, so this was a great option for us. We've occasionally had mediocre service but never bad service. My complaint is with their takeout. Tonight was the second time I've ordered the brisket Philly (my favorite) to go. It's also the second time that I opened the sandwich to find it missing the fresh jalapeño's and the queso, which are the 2 reasons I order it. It's just so frustrating to get home with your food and find it isn't complete. This location also offers the sushi menu, which was great since we wanted something on the lighter and healthier side than pizzas. I literally have never had a less enjoyable experience at a restaurant. This is my first time writing a review for any establishment. The food was undoubtedly the most abysmal excuse for cuisine.
