After a two fitness class, my friend and I were super hungry. So, we stopped at Rudy's as we exited San Antonio, TX. It is important to note that there are country stores and franchise stores at Rudy's. This is one of the original corporate stores. Also, pricing can be different at corporate v franchise stores. My friend ordered the special 2 chopped beef sandwiches for $8.99 and Cole slaw. She ate both sandwiches and loved them. I ordered 1/4 turkey and small pinto beans (healthy) and peach cobbler (totally unhealthy). I had been working out for 2 hour, so I earned it (at least that was crazy logic justification). All aspects of the meal was delicious. I believe the food quality at the corporate stores is a bit better than the franchised locations. Rudy's has both indoor and outdoor seating. The decor is typical country BBQ fare with country artifacts. With happy tummies we got back on the road and headed to Austin, TX.

The bbq chicken lunch special (half chicken, side, and large tea) was great. The chicken was juicy and flavorful even without bbq sauce. The chicken leg and wing were a little small. Love the creamed corn! The banana pudding, sliced bananas in a thin vanilla pudding topped with a huge mound of whipped cream, was a sweet ending to a relaxing lunch. Team members were very kind and helpful.

Another stop to gather food to take with us to my parents. The staff was again excellent. They had all we needed like brisket, chicken, port ribs and jalapeño sausage including sides. I even chatted to a very nice customer who was a veteran. He was a regular and suggested the peach cobbler so I decided to try it. The whole meat selection was very delicious and my parents enjoyed it even the peach cobbler.

This is the first time I've been to any Rudy's and it was dead. No cars in the lot... very quiet for 12 noon. Anyhow, the ordering process took a long time. Everything is cut to order and there's only one person cutting for everyone. I got the Mac and cheese and it was very... different. Very al dente and not really cheesy. I wasn't a fan but oh well. The brisket was excellent as always. First responder and military eat free!

The food is terrible. The ribs were so dry and hard. It was like they put baby back ribs on the grill and fast cooked them so the meat was not thoroughly cooked. It was an expensive lunch at $70 for two people to be thrown in the garbage.

We got a secret shopper gift card Here is our experience Took 30minutes in-line to get the food to go Then our meat was missing from the bag Ordered 3 sides, bean , potato salad, corn The beans were only 1/4 full of beans the rest of the cup was bean juice The potato salad was served out of a nasty plastic 5 gallon container When we arrived we were asked to check out the men's room it was dirty

47 bucks for this a under cooked sausage link and two sides!

Went in for lunch with my brother. 1/2 pound brisket, 1 sausage link, two sides and a bottled soda. 47 bucks and this is what I got with an under cooked sausage. Mac and chz sucks!! Only thing good was the creamed corn and their pickles.

It's been a while since I have stood in line for some barbecue. Walking up to the door the space reminds you of an old gas station turned restaurant. Smells of smoke smacking you in the face, clinging to your clothes and sweeping through your hair. Moving closer to the front of the line, I can finally take a peek at the menu. Oh yea, I want a little bit of everything. With sauce please. My stomach is growling and all of these smells are making me hangry. I excuse myself to the counter and ask to sample some brisket. I can already tell this isn't normal because the man I asked, asked a lady. She then asked a man. They came and asked me. Yes, please, a sample. I'm hungry. Finally, I was given a tiny piece on parchment paper. Yea, that will do it. Lol. When it was our turn to order, we opted for the creamed corn, the potato salad, the peach cobbler, the brisket, the pork ribs, the baby back ribs, the smoked sausage and it came with a half loaf of bread. Although everything was a smokey goodness, I do have favorites. Drumroll please; the smoked sausage and the creamed corn. And my blue cream soda! Just an FYI: Rudys was featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri!

Young man at the register was great! However turkey was extremely dry and brisket was mainly fat that is inedible totally gross. Bought a pound of each at least half of the brisket was nasty

The music is loud but that's expected. It is a bar after all...that serves barbecue. We ordered at the bar and sat down. BWE and I shared the Chuckwagon Classic Plate, and we added 1/3 lb of brisket. My son had the same Classic Plate. We got the beans and fries as our sides. When our food was brought to us, the server didn't give us utensils. We had to ask her for them. The portions seemed small. The brisket was not hot. It was room temperature. The fries and beans were just okay. We were underwhelmed. This is Texas. Our expectations were high but we were disappointed. It could be that the order from the air show overwhelmed them and left them little strength to give attention to our order so I'll give them a little grace and give them two stars instead of one. We won't be back.
