Husband had some beer questions, and Shawn was ready with answers/suggestions. Being a red wine girl, I happily ordered a bottle from their ample list. We started with an appetizer of brussels sprouts. They were absolutely amazing with pecans... Not something we have had before. Highly recommend. I opted for their prime fillet, Husband had steak Diane. I cannot say enough good about these steaks. We've been to some of the best stake establishments from Naples to Punta Gorda, this ranks right up there! I did get the lobster tail add on, it was the most flavorful lobster tail I ever had in southwest Florida. Overall, one of the better meals we have had in our years of living in SWFL. Shawn kept our drinks (and waters) full, and was absolutely charming during our entire experience. He was always watching and nearby, but not obtrusive. He packed our leftovers for us, and then bagged the containers. Great touch, Shawn! Kudos to the manager who walks around to tables and asks about your meal, what brings you in, and if there's anything he can do to make your trip more enjoyable. Fabulous touch! He brought the menus, but it was a long time before he returned. Drinks took over 20 minutes to come out. Bread came after the drinks, but with no plates or silverware, so we had to eat it with our hands. Not ideal. That said, the espresso martini was excellent--no complaints there. When the food came out, the presentation was beautiful, and everything tasted fresh and well-executed. That part of the meal definitely hit the mark. But then it took just as long to get the check, and by that point, the waiting added up. One small but noticeable issue was the smell of the table and menus--it gave off that old rag scent, which pulled me out of the otherwise upscale experience. I think this place has a lot of potential. The atmosphere is great, the food is solid, and the concept is there. But based on this visit, I would like to see sharper execution on the service side before I'd give it a higher rating. I will return.

I have experienced this several times in lower end restaurants - the staff keep the temperature at a level THEY find comfortable. Besides the shock of the terrible dining room, this entirely destroyed the dining experience. While our waitress was polite enough, she allowed the beverage of one of my guests to run out. This is unacceptable for a restaurant trying to draw a regular, more upscale clientele. The rest of the staff seemed essentially untrained and did not work as a team. I saw one person on staff with their fingers in their mouth on the dining room floor. The dated bar was filled with what looked like regulars. I didn't bother with a cocktail once I saw the dining room. I'd say I made a smart choice. The food was decent, but was entirely outweighed by everything else at this facility. This is the only reason I'm giving two stars. I didn't have the stomach to check out the restrooms. Ultimately, I'd say Point 57 is probably decent competition for Red Lobster or Applebee's. Personally, I will stick with Stone's Throw restaurant elsewhere in the Cape. Point 57 management should travel there; they might learn something.
