We've eaten here 5 times in the past month. That's 1.25x per week! And we plan to come back soon. We are due for another visit. We keep coming back for a few good reasons: 1. They have the best tasting food because they use the best ingredients - always fresh! They have Gluten free and Vegan options! 2. They have the best customer service. I really enjoyed the ambience and food at Running Rooster. As many times, as we visit family in Hollister, this was our first time here and we will definitely be back. I really loved the brewery area with the long bar and casual tables in the back and the whole vibe was really chill and friendly. We showed up on a Sunday right after the breakfast and lunch rush so it took a little while for the kitchen and servers to catch up and get us seated but that was fine. Especially because our meals were fantastic. I had the Seared Ahi Tacos, my husband had the Cowboy burger and my son had the Margherita pizza. My 3 ahi tacos were huge! They were so generous with the ahi which is not always the case when you order seared ahi in a restaurant. The accompanying slaw and the pieces of crispy fried avocado made the tacos. I took a bite of my husband's burger, and it was to die for, I definitely had food envy, and his garlic fries were so good. I also tried my son's pizza, and the pizza crust had a perfect woodfired, chew and taste. Service was also great. Can't wait till we are back in Hollister to try this place out again! read more

Awesome restaurant! We had dinner here twice while we were in Hollister. The food and service were that good! The first night my husband ordered the shrimp and grits (we were skeptical as southerners about ordering this in CA) which was fantastic. I had a wood fired pizza which was delicious. My husband really enjoyed the California craft beer selection. He always likes trying something local. The place was busy, not terribly crowded, but the service was surprisingly fast. We've been to Running Rooster several times In the past months. Burgers, fish tacos, cowboy and garlic fries, as well as wood fire pizza have been delicious. Food has not disappointed. Variety of cocktails taste great. Good beer options also. Cinnamon roll for dessert is good. read more

First time here and was pleasantly satisfied with the food and service. The waitress gave us some solid recommendations. The portions here are really big and we easily split a breakfast burrito. It was more than enough food for 2 people. We ordered the bacon biscuits to start and they were tasty but a bit dry. The drinks here are solid too. read more

The running is one of our favorite places to go to eat. The atmosphere is great. The service is great and the food is good. We have eaten at the restaurant twice and ordered out several times. We have had their personal size pizza's and their burgers. We like the Cowboy fries. We shared a brownie with ice cream and whip cream on top, and that was really good. Service is really good. We've never had a bad meal there, but it can't be a little pricey, depending on what you order.

The food was tasty and the portions were big. The hubby enjoyed the beer selection. We ordered the barnyard fries and they were delicious but our party of four could not finish them. I got the Baja fish tacos and the portion was also big but I wish they would have used taco holders. As you can see in my pic the plate was a bit messy due to the flat tortillas. We have been to Running Rooster several times so when we took some out of town friends for drinks there this weekend we were shocked when we were charged a 20% ($23.00) service charge on top of the tip we gave. I don't mind tipping but when the only thing this employee did was serve beer and three drinks and charged an extra 23.00 dollars I'd like to be informed up front that there is a charge on how many persons are being served. FYI, we were a party of 4 adults, 1 teen and 1 child. If customers are not informed of such service fees depending on how many people are at a table I don't see this as good business practice. read more

Pro: Nice atmosphere, friendly servers, food on the menu is pretty good If overall simple. Bar area is modern and they have house cocktails if available ingredients. Cons: appetizers are all over $12. They are listed as shareable and come in an odd number. 5 meatballs/one bread etc. Deff needs lower priced items or a bar menu. The rest of the menu just needs rotation or change over time,if you're not trying to dig into your wallet you deff have to be in the mood for either pizza, burgers, chicken sand or a salad. A fried chicken dish by itself would be nice, not just on a sandwich. They aren't open very late for having a full and separate bar area. They could deff keep the bar open later. Again, separate bar menu. Simple $$ maker. Pizza, pizza rolls, fries, wings, bread and cheese, Mac n cheese etc. The seasonal margarita list was extensive and should just be written down. read more

Came to try out the brunch here! We had the chicken and waffle and some of my friends had the burrito, which has fries inside(BOMB!) they have bottomless mimosas, and different syrups instead of orange juice which is a nice twist but still prefer the OJ! the chicken is very flavorful, the waffle was delicious, I wish the chicken was a little more crispy. Brought my family for an early lunch/late breakfast. I had the pork belly burger which was delicious with the caramelized onions and it did not disappoint, my wife had the White Cheese Pizza and loved the thin crust it was a big hit with my kids as well. My oldest had the chicken sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed the coleslaw. My little was actually quiet as she enjoyed her tenders, a feat in itself. The garlic fries and onion rings were phenomenal, fresh and crispy. If you are looking for a new spot to try in Hollister and have not yet been, I definitely recommend stopping by the service was incredibly attentive and friendly. As food goes in Hollister, this place is pretty good! I was pleasantly surprised. They were serving mocktails which were delicious and my sandwich was great. The service was attentive even though we were sitting outside where, in general, it's easy to be forgotten. My only suggestion would be to change up the oil they use for their fries. That's one odd thing I've noticed in Hollister, all the restaurants tend to use the same frying oil - and it all tastes weird. That said, I liked this place and will be back. read more
