This converted garage gas station is a pretty cool laid back atmosphere. I've heard rave reviews about the breakfast tacos and decided to try it out...my review and rating is based solely on the breakfast experience. Being born and raised in San Antonio, TX I know a thing or two about breakfast tacos and I must say, these are the closest thing to the real deal i've found in Dallas so far. I think part of what makes this place so good is the simply put and simply priced menu. Do a few things, and do them right seems to be the business plan here. My favorite part of the tacos here is the tortilla, perfect thickness, slightly crispy on the edges, although BIG warning, taking tacos to go can result in a greasy soggy tortilla when you finally get around to opening it. I am guessing this is why they serve the tacos open faced when dining in. I've seen a lot of reviews complaining about the taco size, this is one of the things I actually like about the place. Sure monstrous appetites will need multiple tacos to get full but as a petite person with a petite appetite I find the portions absolutely delightful!!! They were fresh and hot, but my brisket taco was kinda tastless and the Rusty Taco - their namesake - was missing all the...oooomph of a traditional pastor taco. Meh. Rusty Taco used to be my favorite but I think they are failing to realize other joints are getting better so their tacos are becoming just meh. First off, this was breakfast for me, the tortillas are not heated to a good crisp (not fresh tortillas but that's ok) so they don't bother making sure the tortilla is good and ready. The eggs with chorizo tacos are not a good mix because they have the chorizo separate from the eggs which means the cook determines how chorizo-y it will be. It needs to be already mixed together as they do in traditional taquerias (if you ever had true taqueria tacos you'd know what I mean). And the eggs were a bit tasteless, so meh for me. read more

Came here with a big group of friends the other day. It was my first time trying this taco joint and I was pleasantly surprised. I got two chicken fajita tacos with chips, guac, and queso. The tacos were fresh and came with pick de gallo, which was a great touch. The guac was ok - it was a little bland compared to the guac I usually have. The question was good but nothing special- the kind that you would find at any generic Mexican restaurant. It certainly doesn't compare to Torchy's queso! Wow, I am rather surprised at most of the negative reviews! First, let's keep in mind the varieties of tacos available to everyone nowadays. Texans are used to very basic meat and cheese or bean and cheese. Please go on vacation and check out tacos in LA and Mexico! They're good in a pinch. The reason I love this place so much is because it's the closest to actual Mexican food and not Tex-Mex that I've been able to find here in Texas. I walk in, I tell them its my first time here and the dude behind the counter runs down the full explanation of the menu, what is most popular and what is his personal favorite. NICE JOB! I go with the roasted pork, the baja shrimp and the fried chicken tacos respectively. And also threw in some chips and queso. Queso is nice and spicy with lots of flavor and much to my surprise the chips are actually salted! So good. The tacos where good. The Fried Chicken... didnt taste the chicken much but overall pretty yummy. The Baja Shrimp -- I see why this is a favorite. Full of flavor and the sauce was bangin! The last couple of breakfast tacos I've had there were average at best, the potatoes and taco were lukewarm. I think if the taco isn't hot enough to start melting the cheese it isn't warm enough. I've had better meals in the past so perhaps it's a case of not having the A team on the line, I keep going back because the salsa verde is the best out of most of the TexMex taco places. read more

I Have now been twice. My first experience was for lunch and I was impressed. I had a picadillo taco, a Baja grilled shrimp taco and a pork taco. All had a very good taste. Now, I had heard that they had run out of food for dinner a couple of days ago, and I said to myself that's ok , they have just opened and it takes a day or two to get everything running smoothly. Well unfortunately we went last night at about 7:45. And as we were walking through the front door the Manager informs us we have run out of food! Well I hate to say this but a restaurant on Greenville Ave. that says they serve dinner but run out of food by that time not once not twice but now three times! That is an Unacceptable restaurant practice that comes off as amateur. Rusty Taco, I hope you can fix your problems in a hurry, because I did enjoy the food when you have it. By coincidence we found this place. We needed to do a Uturn on Greenville and it happens to be illegal to do a uturn at that light. I saw the place and figured it must be good. Tons of people there, looks to be home made salsa etc. Horrible taco's. I had the #2,#3 and #4. All were VERY DRY. tomatillo salsa (green) wasnt good at all. My friend did not finish their taco's. Their #9 had no pineapple. Crazy amounts of cilantro on everything. I was hoping their meat would be similar to any La Michoacana market. read more
