Oh my goodness! This Ruth Chris goes above and beyond words can compare. First of all I was running late and the host Sam on the phone told me it was okay and to drive safe and that meant so much to me! I feel like we do not get that type of hospitality and care in LA anymore! This relatively-new (3 years or so) Ruth's Chris executes the brand's trademark delicious steaks to a T - but there's still some room for improvement here! My cousin and I split a Tomahawk (excessive? Maybe!) and it was cooked to juicy, succulent medium-rare - with a perfect crust and char to boot! The Ruth's hot plate serving strategy is also well-executed here...servers are more than happy to grab you a fresh plate if you'd like to keep your steak perfectly piping hot. Per usual, the sides all slapped, as well - the Mac & Cheese + Creamed Spinach are indulgent, comforting, and hit the spot, as always. The restaurant has two sections - a large, traditional dining room, and a bar section (with some booths positioned therein). We were seated in the latter section - and the crowd in that section was a little iffy. Maybe it's not my place to say - but there were a lot of saggy pants and butts showing...especially for an upscale, traditional steakhouse; this definitely impacted the family-friendly vibes and overall restaurant ambience. While we could have been seated at a table without a reservation at 4pm on a Monday, we were happy to enjoy a more relaxed ambiance at their bar. Our bartender/server extraordinaire Eric was welcoming, inviting, and crafted a wonderful experience that will have us coming back for more. We both lavished in the Ruth's Classics special prix fix menu that featured a starter, main dish, side dish, and dessert for a great price point ($70-$90 per person). My husband and I have been to the Irvine location several times (it's his favorite spot) Coming to this location we were a little skeptical but as soon as I walked in the host greeted me right away and we only waited 5 minutes for our table (I have made reservations) our server Cece was the best, she was super friendly, I ask for a drink recommendation and she said a cucumber gin drink, I don't like gin but she said it'd be good, and it was in fact delicious, the crab cakes (complimentary on the house) were so creamy and delicious, my husband (a picky eater) loved them!! I didn't get to see the rest of the restaurant but one thing I noticed was how much light there is inside the restaurant and I love it, their Irvine location is kind of dark and low lights. The most ghetto restaurant I have ever been to. I was extremely apprehensive to dine in South Bay and my opinion was solidified after this nightmare 4 hour meal. No valet, parking garage that will be validated but the food takes so long you will still end up paying. Food takes over an hour to arrive and is completely overcooked. It's brought back out and now completely undercooked. Not worth sending back because my family was already waiting for me to eat. The manager himself brought out the replacement steak but did not offer any drink or desert for the inconvenience as you would receive at any other steakhouse. Creamed spinach completely over salted and inedible. Crab cakes, mushroom and salmon were nice. Drinks take 45 minutes and while I understand the bar being "backed up" the dining room was simply not packed enough to justify that level of the delay. Minimal apologies from the wait staff. The family behind us got their food before us despite arriving about a half hour later. Waitress did not sing happy birthday or anything that they typically do in Vegas. There is zero dress code enforcement or ambiance. I was quite embarrassed to have my grandmother in a dining room with rowdy families, children using iPads, women in literal pajama tops, sweatshirts and slides. Disgusting. I guess that's indicative of the general area more than RC itself, but I've never seen such slobs in Pasadena. Ruth Chris is generally decent and if you want a good steak or insist on having the Mac and cheese, stop in Pasadena or Vegas. My sister insisted on tipping because the waitress was pleasant enough but I was repulsed by the experience and would never be back. We both had salads. I had the Ruth's chopped salad, which was very good. It was well balanced with flavors and textures. It s also just the right size. My wife enjoyed. her wedge salad - the steakhouse mainstay. Our steaks were well prepared and the butter they use seasons the meat and keeps it moist. They know how to cook steaks here. We both had a baked potato, which I thought was just ok. It wasn't hot enough. The cheese didn't melt, it just clumped. It was ok. My wife wanted creamed spinach and she loved it. i tasted it but didn't have much. It's good and rich, but i generally don't want to eat that heavy. There's nothing wrong with it though. I wish there were a cleaner vegetable dish in the sides. Everything is rich. They gave us a free dessert, which was nice. They drizzled our anniversary message on the plate, again a nice touch. My wife really wanted the side dish sweet potato casserole as a dessert with ice cream. So that's what we had. They added over cream to make it a dessert My wife was very happy. It's really not my thing. It's like sweet potato pie. which i'm not that into. But the target audience here loved it. The service is professional and very good. Our waitress was attentive and did a great job. The table runners were efficiently bringing out food. Our water glasses were filled regularly. The service was great. I particularly appreciate this location because it offers an open menu instead of a prefix menu, unlike most other restaurants. Last night, I was disappointed with the service my girlfriend and I received. While Anthony is a pleasant individual, the wait times for drinks and food were excessive. We arrived at the bar area at 8:20 p.m. and found dirty dishes stacked up. It took them 15 minutes, until 8:35 p.m., to clean up the area and finally greet us. Anthony then brought us a menu, which was excellent. We quickly reviewed our options, which we always do at this location. However, once we had closed the menu and put it away, he did not return to take it. He also did not ask if we were ready or if we wanted any water. This took an additional 15 minutes, until 8:50 p.m., when he brought water and took our order. At this time, we did not have any bread, but the couple who had just been seated after we had been waiting had hot bread immediately. We had been waiting for an extended period. Since 8:50 p.m., we had ordered our drinks, but they did not arrive until 9:02 p.m. At this time, the other couple had received their drinks and food before us and had closed out their check. By 9:20 p.m., our food finally arrived. It was delicious, and I ordered another round of drinks for us so that I could have something with my food. I had finished half of my food without my last round of drinks, and it had been 25 minutes since I had been waiting. I asked Anthony if the drinks were not made and if he could please remove them from the check. He agreed. He returned three minutes later saying that the drinks were on the way. However, he had just started making the drinks after I had been waiting for a long time. Despite my love for this location, the wait times were excessive. read more

FILET & CABERNET SAUVIGNON (6 oz tender midwestern filet with three large shrimps) - We ordered our steak Medium-Rare, and it was served on their famous hot plate. The verdict was TENDER and BUTTERY. Four shrimps were on the plate, but that was nonexistent compared to how good the steak tasted. RUTH'S CHEESEBURGER (Signature ground beef, choice of cheese, fries) - I heard good reviews about their burgers. It was a matter of time before I tried to witness what people were saying. And honestly, the rumor is true. The CHEESEBURGER was FREAKING AMAZING. I asked the meat to be cooked to medium and requested a blue cheese. The burger was easy to chew and their Blue Cheese is out of this world. It's the best I've ever had. And for under $20, this burger is a TKO.
