This is my second visit to this Ruth's Chris in as many years, and still just as tasty as ever! Went out with great friends and even got the same table and waiter as last year! Started with a whiskey sour, which was pretty good though none of the restaurants in the DC region I've visited use egg whites (bummer). It's been several years since I've been to Ruth's Chris, but nothing has changed - which can be both good and bad. Luckily for my wife and me, we have fond memories of dining fairly regularly there, so the lack of change was a bit refreshing. The valet is no longer there, so some parking was cleared up in the front which is good, because the alternative is a lot that's a good 100 yards behind the restaurant. Decor is elegant without being ostentatious, and makes for an enjoyable date night. Service is prompt and polite without being intrusive. The food was great - my wife started with the ahi tuna which was fresh and great quality fish with a mustard sauce and nice pickled vegetables. I had the Caesar salad, which - while nothing unique or spectacular - is quite good. Our steaks were fantastic. My wife had a petite filet which was cooked to a perfect medium and I had the bone in filet which was perfectly cooked to medium rare. The seasoning was excellent with that Ruth's Chris sizzling butter adding to all the wonderful flavor. At most steakhouses I prefer the marbling of a ribeye, but the bone in filet at Ruth's Chris is hard to beat. We split a baked potato (which, is just a potato and difficult to justify the price) and one drink each (a glass of wine for me, a cocktail for her). The total bill with tip came to $264 which is more expensive than it used to be - chalk that up to Covid I suppose. All in all it was a wonderful date night with my wife and although the prices were a bit steep, the quality, execution, and flavor of the food was delightful. read more

This review is for the happy hour only. I haven't been to Ruth's Chris to "dine" in over 10 years, but I regularly frequent their "Sizzle, Swizzle, and Swirl" happy hour and absolutely love it. It runs from Sunday-Friday (pretty sweet that they have it on Fridays). The menu features several cocktails (love the pomegranate martini, they make one of the best around) and glasses of wine for $7, as well as beers for $3. And you're at Ruth's, so you're getting high quality stuff. Speaking of high quality, I absolutely love their $7 bar food menu at happy hour. You can't beat a prime burger with fries for $7 - the burger is enormous and is plenty of food. Other food favorites on the happy hour menu include the steak sandwich (so delish) and the seared ahi tuna, Recently, they switched up the food menu a bit, and are now offering things like a Crab BLT. I didn't order it, but people next to me did and it looked really good. Patronizing their happy hour means you can get in and out of Ruth's Chris for around $50 or so which includes several food & drink orders...I mean, no way are you getting that when you dine in the regular restaurant. We have come here about 5x now, mostly during Restaurant Week because the prices are pretty steep and during Restaurant Week, there's the special $35 menu. We usually get the chicken, crab cake and steak entree and it is delicious! Everything cooked to perfection and so tender! I have dined here as a party of 2, 4, 10 and 20 and service is consistent every single time- fantastic. The ambiance is pretty fancy and it is a great place to go to celebrate special occasions as well- Restaurant Week also happens to be during a lot of birthdays I know. Dinner time, the food and service are great! During lunch, I think this is when they train their servers so I got a couple awkward people before. Regardless, this place always delivers good food! You really can't go wrong with any of their cuts, but I prefer their ribeye because it is just wonderfully tender, juicy and flavorful. Their filets are tender, but they can't get the delicious crust that the other cuts are able to achieve. Their sides are on the expensive side, but I do enjoy their pecan crusted sweet potato casserole---I always get it! Their other sides have been pretty standard to me. I don't know how this place is still in business. One of the worst dining experiences that I've ever had. Arrived for an 8:30pm reservation... I'm not sure if they were short-staffed or what, but we had one waiter for the entire patio. Though only 4 tables occupied, our waiter was awful. He didn't seem to like to take responsibility for the poor service... "Sorry, 'they' only have one menu" outside... we had glasses of water to tie us down for the 35 min it took to deliver our wine... then they brought out warm bread and butter. Delicious, even when you don't have plates or utensils. We tore up the bread and dipped it in the butter. The wait.... was so long....The waiter asked us if we wanted more bread, and he never brought any out. Our Porterhouse, mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus arrived almost an hour later... This review is for the Tyson's Corner location. My husband and I arrived earlier than the rest of our party and decided to get a cocktail at the bar. Every bar stool was torn, cracked and ripped, surprising for an "upscale" restaurant. We ordered French 75s, a classic New Orleans cocktail, that the bartender didn't even bother to shake or chill. Once we arrived at our table, everything continued to go downhill. I know Monday evenings probably aren't the shift for A-level servers, but ours was so bad. He slammed everything down on the table, slid bread across the table, and forgot everything that he didn't bother to write down. Seriously, he had to come back to the table again to confirm our order. He forgot my salad and when someone else finally brought it, the dressing was incorrect. I had to ask three separate times for a glass of iced tea and was never offered a refill once I received it. It was early on a Monday and there were three other tables in the dining room, so it's not like the server was busy or overwhelmed. He really just did not care. The food was almost as bad as the service. I ordered crab cakes and my first bite was so full of shell that I decided not to eat any more. The server never bothered to inquire as to why I was not eating my meal. My husband's ribeye was overcooked and the shared creamed spinach tasted like uncooked flour and cream. We ordered burgers for Curbside. Both were supposed to be medium rare...both were well done. One was ordered with only cheddar cheese and onions...there were no onions of any kind. There should have been raw onions and crispy onions. The other was ordered with all toppings...but what was on the burger was skimpy, and there was no crispy onions or garlic aioli. The absolute worst Ruth's Chris dining and location I've ever experienced! We arrived at 8:10 pm well before close. There were on 3 guest in the entire establishment. I guess the word is out about terrible service? We sat at the bar and were completely ignored by the bar tender as he was fully engaged with an off duty employee who cursed like a sailor during our entire meal. Our water glasses were never refilled or even offered. I was never offered a second drink. It was obvious that my business or experience was not important. I gotta say... when my family wants steak and its a special occasion... we usually end up at Ruth's Chris. Just because its almost always done right. We came for Christmas Dinner which I was very surprised it was open to begin with but it was a great experience. Our usual location is in Crystal City but we all agreed it was partially because of the view. Service here at Tysons is just as good as Crystal City... its just a different vibe and crowd. I believe the last time I was at this location was for a meeting for work. When we arrived we did have maybe a 5 min wait while they got our table together but then we were immediately seated. They lead us into one of the glass enclosed rooms where we were surrounded by wine chillers. It was kind of a cool modern take. Although the bad thing is because everyone is enclosed in a tiny space you can here everyone's conversation. But at least you can see what everyone else orders lol. For Christmas Dinner I decided to mix things up normally...I would not order a cocktail but it was Christmas...So I got myself a Ruby Red Greyhouse...I figured it gave me the freshness I needed before I stuffed my face for the night. Probably one of the best cocktails I've had in awhile. There is something about vodka and fresh juice that is just really tasty. Key thing FRESH JUICE. They were even nice enough to give me a huge slice of grapefruit. I've probably said this before in another review but I love the Ruth's Classic... and the reason why is because it is prix fixed but you have a lot of options. Of course at Ruth's Chris and any steakhouse for that matter if you want extra there is an upcharge. Now with the Ruth's Classic I can choose a steak or seafood option and I still get my salad/soup and I get my sides and a dessert. My usual is the filet & shrimp with a Caesar salad, sides of either the sautéed green beans or mushrooms. There is something about vegetables sautéed in butter that is just simply delicious. Dessert majority of the time is chocolate item of some sort. But for a $4 upcharge you can. Get whatever dessert off the menu. Tonight I decided on the Ruth's Classic with a 12 oz Ribeye...even though part of me was like why not get scallops or Chilean seabass...but I thought to myself I'm at a steakhouse.. so with that I decided on the house salad and the roasted rainbow heirloom carrots. I think it was my first time ordering the ribeye...or at least that I remember. Medium perfection nicely pink got scared cause the first piece I cut looked well done. Now my steak was a little fatty compared to my usual filet but it still tasted amazing. Steak was juicy and flavorful always well seasoned. Carrots were nicely roasted you could taste the natural sweetness and it gave a nice freshness to my meal. My father got his usual the NY strip.... mother got her 12 oz ribeye and my brother with his filet mignon. Everyone of course loved their steaks. For dessert... my family likes to end a cleansing note so they decided on the raspberry sorbet from haagan dazs. So we upgraded 2 of the Ruth's Classic Desserts for $4.00. I decided to go ahead and try the chocolate turtle cheesecake with cranberry pecan bark. Honestly... for those that love chocolate....I think Ruth's Chris makes pretty decadent chocolate desserts. Overall an amazing Christmas dinner and the best part no cleanup lol. But at least we know that there a Ruth's Chris closer then Crystal City that still has impeccable service. Although my biggest gripe of the night is that the shoestring fries were soggy... which is usually the case I think at most locations.. but the rest of Ruth's Chris sides are pretty good. Our server - Gereltuy - was so honest with her recommendations and made sure to check in on us regularly. Every single thing ordered I would also suggest that you try: prime rib with lobster tail added (for only $15), seabass and lobster mac n cheese. The tl;dr on this one is that Ruth's Chris is a good choice for a special occasion. Our dinner there was my first time there, and it seemed like it was a special occasion for a majority of the patrons (anniversary, birthday, etc.). Here's a run-down of what we consumed: * fresh bread. Complementary, freshly baked and tasty. * Creamed spinach. One of their recommended sides, and better than I expected--tasty and something I'd order again despite the price tag. * Baked potato: Partner's side; she enjoyed it. * Bone in filet, cooked medium rare: Quite tasty. I think next time I'll go for a regular filet, as it's a bit of a workout to get the last bits of meat off the bone and my knife skills aren't exactly refined. But the taste and texture is phenomenal. * NY Strip Steak, cooked well-done: Partner's dish, she approves. I'm not one for well-done steak but even I would've eaten it from the look of it. * Addition of shrimp: Probably the only meh aspect of the dinner. Not bad, just not really standout. Not something I'd add in again. * Dessert: flourless chocolate cake. Dense, tasty. We split it and didn't quite have room for all of it because yeah, everything else was quite filling. So, at the price point, this is a four star experience, because 5 stars would require everything to be mindblowingly good. But 4 stars means still recommended for, well, a special occasion. read more
