The only reason I'm giving it a three-star is that the waiter had placed the wrong order of chicken and kept talking about it LOUDLY as if it was our fault. He seemed new but kept talking about the order placed and kept saying it was my husband's fault. My husband and I knew what we ordered and said each order # loud and clear. We even pointed at the item! I wish I could have given it a 5 stars for customer service but my mood was ruined when hearing someone point fingers for 30 minutes straight. I'm not sure what to say anymore about this place. I keep coming back to see if anything has improved after the new ownership. But each time, I get a little more and more disappointed. I've been coming here for a while and have a few items that I always gravitated towards. Roast chicken is always on my list, but they were out for the first time in 10 years... offered me chicken wings instead. Next was the bossam...which they don't serve with oyster anymore during the summer time. Also, another first first for me. Food hasn't tasted the same since the owner change, but that is expected. The exterior is not eye catching and doesn't bear a flashy, modern restaurant sign but don't be fooled by outward appearances! The restaurant is in a strip mall beside a convenience store and is in front of residential houses. Inside, it's cozy, with ambient lighting. There were about less than 10 tables. Nearly every table was a booth and had been written on and decorated with doodles by restaurant-goers. Not a concept I'm familiar with, but it adds charm to the little Korean establishment. My friends and I went out to drink and have dinner and drink (twice mentioned for emphasis). There's a fridge right next to the door that chilled all the beers and the Soju. The food was yummy- I don't remember the specific dish names but I do recall ordering bugolgi with sides, chicken in red sauce, rice cakes, and RICE, of course! The bulgogi was hot, sizzling and had a nice char to it.The chicken was fresh, moist and tender. The rice cakes were smothered in sauce and everything tasted delicious with the rice. Now for the drinks- my friend mixed Cass beer (wooo, named after me!), Soju and Sprite in a glass. It was so good. So good. So good. We also had Soju bombs. Great Korean food! Not many side dishes but unique Korean casual atmosphere (graffiti walls, K pop posters and music). Seafood Pancake- HUGE portion! I was very satisfied with the size of their seafood pancake. It was nicely fried and very easy to share. Tofu Soup- Fresh tofu soup. The broth lacked flavor and was not memorable. Nice hidden gem Saw this on yelp and decided to try it out. When we got there we were confused--the place was located on a sketchy street mall, and looked like it was in a dangerous neighborhood :) The store covered up their windows, so we originally thought the store already closed down. Turns out, once you go inside, it's great! The walls are decorated with customer handwritings. There was a large TV on the top wall showing korea dramas. The hostesses were both older korean ladies who were eager to be polite. We got our food and seats really quickly, and they re-filled our water cups consistently. The food was excellent. The appetizers were pretty good, and came really quick. The tofu stew was good, just the right amount of spicy, and served warm. The rice was the typical taro rice. This restaurant is one of those hole in the wall gems! It's extremely small so seating is limited, which means it could be hard sometimes to get a table. Luckily for us, we were able to get seated right away but the waitress told us that the food will take awhile 20~ mins. We agreed cause we were kept company by the tv they had on! Fast forward to the food, we love everything we ordered. The galbi short ribs 25$~ were seasoned very well and delicious! After hearing a number of great things about this place I needed to try it myself so I went with the fam who have been hyping it up for months. We ordered multiple items some I can not even pronounce and some things I may not personally have chosen so here goes... We end up going on a Wednesday and we get the last available table. This place is small and there is only one waitress, which makes sense for the space. This lady is like a tornado coming to take your order. She starts by bringing us some corn water, definitely unique and something I always like to see from places because who wants just plain water all the time. The food comes out pretty quick after, like a rapid fire of food to your table. Six sides come with the meal but this did not seem to be what brings people here, kinda of just a palette cleanser for the main dishes. We got the bulgogi and short ribs, both tender and delicious. Seafood pancake, crispy and soft at the same time, and the Seafood tofu soup, both were one of the best I have had and highly recommend. For someone who is picky about seafood, this was really good and flavorful, I could have doubled up on them. Kimchi fried rice was just OK, nothing special. Korean fried chicken was crispy, and sweet. The sauce was coated on each piece and very authentic. The last dish was a new one for me and something I have been craving ever since is dak galbi. We had it the way the fam orders it with ramen, and extra cheese, crazy combo but it was unexpectedly fire. Also the rice cake pieces in it gave it a different texture and are the hidden star of this dish. I don't listen to all the reviews on here all the time and prefer the word of mouth as this place is much better than the 3 and half stars it has. I brought my mom and son here for their first experience and they enjoyed every bit of the meal we had ordered. I even ordered the flavor soju and my mom loved it and she doesn't drink alcohol. Sa Rang Bang is the type of joint that you would only learn about from friends in the know. Thank goodness, I have said friends! The restaurant location is out of the way and at night, I don't know if I would venture here alone. The inside is only slightly less intimidating than the outside. The booths are covered in graffiti and the lone pendant lights that illuminate the tables are covered in weird Christmas like ribbon. Service was pretty much non-existent. We had to flag down someone to take our order and even that seemed like a herculean task. But hang in there, because SRB is a diamond in the rough. And the diamond consists of freaking good Korean food. We ordered the jap chae, bibimbap, spicy cold noodles with veggies, kimchee fried rice and beef short rub soup. They were all delish, but the standout were the kimchee fried rice and the bibimbap. Both were flavorful and rich. Comfort food that satisfies the craving you didn't even know you had. This food will stick to your ribs and leave you more than satisfied. All in all, even though service was not great, the food more than made up for it. Sarang Bang shot me in the mouth and in the stomach making me weak and wanting more. First things first, this place has horrible service, but I think the food here definitely makes up for it a lot. My friend and I came here around 7:00pm on a Friday night and we had to wait for about 45-50 minutes for a seat for two. It sucks that this place is really small and I think if this place were a bit bigger then service would be much quicker. But it might be because of the fact that the only waitress/server that night was an Asian lady who might be the owner of the place as well. I felt pretty bad for her and I give her props for serving everyone by herself, though there were a few times throughout the night where she didn't check up on us at all/forgot to get us the things we asked for. But enough with the bad service and onto the food. Looking at what the Yelpers recommended through the tips, reviews, and pictures, my friend and I ended up ordering three dishes: spicy chicken, seafood pancake, and the bulgogi. Our meal also came with 4 side dishes and purple rice. Spicy Chicken (12)- Oh god...these wings were de-li-cious! Juicy and a blast full of flavor; this is by far my favorite dish. My friend doesn't like spicy food at all but these wings weren't spicy and she ended up loving the chicken. Seafood Pancake ($13)- A different type of pancake than what I usually have because it was very crispy but I enjoyed it a lot. Definitely the right amount of flavor; crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The sauce that comes with the pancake compliments it really well. Bulgogi ($12)- Tender meat and marinated in the right amount of sauce; not too much and not too little. Another dish I really recommend to have at Sarang Bang. Though service is terrible here, I think it was worth the wait but probably not worth it if you are literally starving and are impatient. My cravings for Korean food were satisfied more than I expected and I'm glad I came here. I recommend this place for those who haven't been here or if you just want some good Korean food. I just hope you are ready to be willing to wait for a seat for a while. I actually suggest you come here for a very late dinner since it got less crowded after 8:00pm on Friday. Good thing this place is open til 2:00am from Monday to Saturday and 12:00am on Sundays! TLDR; horrible service but great Korean food. Get the spicy chicken!! It's to die for! read more

What am I to do when oz has a wait list, I'm craving Korean , and just about every other place is closed? I'll check out sarang bang! It's conveniently open past 1 in the morning and if my yelp friends say it's good, I'll trust it! Upon parking , I realized its in a sketchy, uninviting , plaza with very little light besides the open sign if that even counts. Because of some yelp reviews, I expected horrible and slow customer service but as soon as we walked in, these two cute older women greeted us with a high pitched hello! During our dine in experience , Lee took care of us and she was the cutest! She kept cracking jokes, teasing me, and kept telling me I was drunk. Off of one hite? Really? I'm no lightweight, sister ! We ordered: galbi, bulgogi, japchae, and potstickers. Everything tasted amazing! My only complaint would be the pricing. Sarang Bang is, in my opinion, the best Korean restaurant in Sacramento. Period. They're tucked between a bar and a cleaners in a small residential road. It's a hidden gem (If you haven't already heard about it). They've got an extensive menu of Korean dishes, but here are my favorites at Sarang Bang (No, I don't order ALL of it every time I come!): Bulgogi: Honestly, my favorite dish here. I seriously order this by itself with a bowl of rice and I'd be golden. It's very flavorful and its probably the best bulgogi I've eaten anywhere. Yes, even better than the Korean restaurants in Korea Town in LA. This dish costs about $12. Bibimbap: Rice, sauteed vegetables, a slice of beef, fried egg and this chilli pepper paste is what consists of a bibimbap. The paste is just squeeze on top of the rice and its your job to mix the hell out of it to give the rice and other ingredients flavor. De-LIC! Seafood pancake: Perfectly made. The sauce that comes with this dish compliments the pancake very well. A "must order: appetizer that doesn't come in a very appetizer size. Spicy Seafood Soup: Even though it's a "seafood" soup, I feel like there is more tofu than seafood itself. Something that's good on a cold day to go with your other dishes. The bowl that it comes with looks small, but it can fill up 6 of those bowls they give you for the soup. The most I've paid for a meal here was $75, and the cheapest was $24. So you can imagine that it can get a bit pricey, but they do give you a lot of food and you'll walk out feeling very satisfied. It's something similar in taste to it, but not quite the same. So we wanted to add an order of Kimchi Fried Rice. When we placed the order, the lady rolled her eyes and acted impatient. Like seriously, was that necessary? It's not you back there cooking the food, just take the damn order down! The rest of the night, she didn't really check up on us, or ask to see if our food was okay. She didn't even ask if we wanted refills on our side dishes like how other Korean restuarants do. I ordered Bibim Nengmyun and Jjolmyun without really looking at the menu. I was surprised by how much the prices have gone up. They were $18 each. The portion size was also a LOT smaller, and it did not come with any side dishes. For dishes that have zero meat in it, definitely not worth coming again. At other Korean restaurants, I usually just get their tofu soup with a meat entree, but at this place, they have unique dishes so I stepped out of my usual Korean orders and tried different entrees! Ok. This revised review is not to replace my original review but to clarify why the water is brown. Someone gave a low rating and seemed to be appalled that this establishment would serve "brown off tasting water" - well.. it's not dirty water lady. It's either roasted barley or roasted corn water. Think of it as "tea" except it's water boiled with either the roasted barley or corn. This is what Koreans drink if they don't want to drink plain water. And because most non- Koreans are not aware of this "brown" water phenomenon, most Korean restaurants don't serve it. Which is a shame IMO. read more

We went to eat for 4 people but were automatically charged 18% for service costs even though their service was very bad. My family and I, a total of 3 adults and 1 baby, went to eat at this restaurant at 7pm. We called to reserve a table but they responded with a very bad attitude towards customers. During the meal, we were not comfortable ,although the food was delicious, the service attitude was very bad. The waiter always expressed dissatisfaction and ignored and grumbled with customers. We will probably return to this restaurant because of the delicious food but not for the service attitude. Lastly, we had a bad experience today.
