We had a great experience with Saber Roofing. We needed old downspouts removed and new ones installed, and had some particular needs about where some of them would fit. Ryan responded very quickly by phone, and let me know what they needed from me in order to provide a quote. Ryan and Jake were patient when I incorrectly emailed the photos of what we needed, and then called to clarify a couple of things they needed to know. They provided a quick quote once they had the necessary information, and set appropriate expectations for when to expect the job to be done. They set up a time for the work to be done, had the workers come out when they said they would, and they finished the job as expected, for exactly what they quoted (which was lower than what another company with poor communication skills quoted, by the way). They followed up by email after the job was completed, and were friendly and polite, all the way through. In late spring this year we had a roof leak around a skylight in our living room. Stupidly, we put off getting it fixed by a professional until late summer and when we went to schedule an appointment with a few contractors in the area they were booked up for weeks if not months. Saber Roofing had the longest wait list of two months putting the inspection (not repair mind you) into late October. We held the appointment just in case despite scheduling other roofers in the area with shorter wait lists who cancelled at the last minute or were outright no shows. My procrastination aside, let me say this: the wait for Saber Roofing was worth every second. Everything lined up perfectly and Ryan was able to come out a couple of days ahead of schedule to check out the issues with our roof and skylight. We had worries that we would need a new roof, a new skylight, and although we were considering solar, he didn't spend any time trying to pitch that and instead focused on the problems to get us ready for the upcoming winter. He was up on the roof in minutes diagnosing the problem, took plenty of pictures, and told us - honestly - what he thinks the issue was and what the potential fix could be. Shockingly for us he was straight to the point and gave a couple of paths for potential fixes. He applied one fix that same day that should hopefully take us through the winter and beyond, but also offered up more long term solutions with estimates the same day as well along with pictures of the quick fixes he applied. So you know how people say "I wouldn't hesitate to hire these guys again", well, I said that, and 5 months later, I called them again. We had a fumigation and Ryan came out the day after tenting removal to inspect the roof. He found 2 broken tiles and gave me two options for the fix with pros/cons for both. Saber Roofing is a busy company with so many El Nino effected roofs that need replacing, We had to wait, but once our job got started, they did a fantastic job. Ryan Saber called me daily to keep me up to date on my mom's roof job & even when an issue arose, he gave me an honest rundown, options and managed to figured it out and still get everything done on schedule and as originally planned. Their showroom in Woodside also makes it easy to see samples of most of the roofing materials they offer, including gutters and downspout styles. They can even show you hundreds of pictures of similar roofs and materials, so you get an idea of cost and styles. The cost was acceptable, very competitive among the highly rated roofers in the area. Saber was not the lowest bidder, but they had a much longer warranty and quoted thicker CDX plywood, which our research showed was better. We did not want to take shortcuts with our roof. When we went to pick out our shingles, Ryan could so easily have pushed the slightly more expensive shingles, but he emphasized that the quality and strength was no different - only the appearance, which was a matter of taste. The lead roofer said he had been with the company for 20+ years, which shows that Saber treats employees well. Jake, who did the quote, was courteous and instilled confidence. Saber has a waiting list due to high demand, and they were worth the wait. Once they were here, they were quick and efficient and courteous. My wife and I recently purchased a house. It was a fixer-upper, with an absolute mess of a downstairs and... a leaky roof. The previous home owner had the roof patched up by Saber Roofing, but apparently the job was not done well enough since we were still finding leaks all over the house when a few light storms came our way. The house changed hands, and the leaky roof became our problem. Saber Roofing supposedly guarantee their work, but when I called them to come re-patch their patch job, their receptionist looked up our file and muttered, "Oh... the owner says that particular job was pretty difficult. He says to leave your number with us and he'll get back to you." Riiiight. They never did get back to us. We called them again to get a quote on an entire roof replacement instead of a patch job and they gave us a quote for nearly $10,000. It was time to search for alternatives and we ultimately got the roof replaced for $6,250. I am sure that if you pay these guys enough, that they'll do a good job. The other reviews here seem to suggest that they can produce quality work. However, it should be known that there are alternatives out there that will do just as good a job at a lower cost to you, won't dodge their obligations to guarantee their work, and who will at least call you back after saying they will. read more

Ryan Saber (CEO) came right on time today to check on our gutters as we thought there were some damage to the gutters. There was a clog and he removed it and solved the problem. He noticed some dry rot on the eaves of the house and gave us some advice on how to maintain it. He referred us to a gutter cleaner as well. Very pleasant and professional young man. When my roof developed leaks, I knew it was time to do something about it. Fortunately for me we were in the middle of a severe drought, so I could put the repairs off for a while. Based upon the reviews on Yelp I contacted Saber Roofing and Ryan was out to give me a written estimate for the repair of the roof, not the replacement as another roofing contractor tried to badger me into. The written estimate was very reasonable for the repair of the shake roof! Unfortunately for me I did not have the funds at the time and having survived the very mild winter. Okay - roughly 10 years ago we had all of our gutters replaced by Saber Roofing. They were fair priced and they did a good job. Two weeks ago we had our backyard remodeled. We needed to move 1 downspout to another location and cap the downspout. That was a small job. I had a difficult problem with a leaky fire sprinkler line just under the roof that was inaccessible from inside the house. I was able to work with Saber and my sprinkler repair person to take a portion of the roof off, get the line repaired, and repair the roof quickly and easily. The pitch of my roof is very steep, so many roofers would not even look at the job; others would not consider a job this small. You can't see the replaced portion, and since it was a small job, they were able to squeeze me in, so the roof was only open a day and a half. I would highly recommend. read more

After the recent December rains, a terrible leak had started. Saber was the only roof company to return my calls. I suppose other companies had too much work to bother with costumer service. Saber was also very busy, but made time to help me. Ryan put together a fair estimate in less than 24 hours. He even managed to squeeze my repair in over the holidays. Even with the reasonable estimate, I was cash strapped over the holidays. Ryan allowed me to pay him half the bill now and pay him the rest in a few weeks. Ryan clearly diagnosed the problem and proposed a better than just a repair solution. Way to make the speedy repair! And with excellent work! Not a trace of mess. As I have mold in my attic as a result of the leak, I asked Ryan to recommend someone to help me clean up the dangerous mold. We recently undertook the large job of reroofing both our home and our rental property. Both homes had not been reroofed in over 25 years, and both had begun to leak and damage the structure of the homes beneath. After going through the typical process of obtaining quotes and researching company histories, we decided Saber Roofing was the best choice for our needs. Our experience with the staff at Saber was excellent. I called and spoke with a receptionist at the company, and 3 days later, the estimator Darnell was at my door at exactly the time we had agreed to meet. He was very polite and friendly, and gave me a thorough explanation of what he would be looking at and what my options were (repair vs reroof, materials, time frames, etc). He promised me a quote via email within the next 48 hours, and, sure enough I received said quote within the given time frame. I was pleased with the price and the explanation of materials that would be used. After doing some research, there were certain things I was looking for in the estimate, such as use of higher quality wood materials for the sheathing of the roof (CDX vs OSB). I found Saber's quote to incorporate the higher quality materials without an astronomical price increase (as was seen in certain other roofing companies that shall remain unnamed). Because of this, the professional demeanor of the employees, and the positive reviews I found on the internet, we signed the contract with Saber and went forward with reroofing both our properties. At this point, I began communicating with Ryan Saber for scheduling and status updates. Much like Darnell, Ryan was very professional, friendly, easily understood, and an all around pleasure to deal with. He informed us of the specific dates that work would begin and would end, and was able to adhere to the schedule he set without error. All of Saber's actual roofing crew seemed very friendly and pleasant when they were onsite, and they were particularly careful not to damage our garden or leave behind any kind of evidence that they had just completely replaced the roof of our home. We didnt find a single wood shingle or roofing nail left behind after the job was completed. Additionally, we were amazed that both roofs were completely replaced in under 10 total days! And the quality of the work is excellent, not at all rushed. The houses both survived the recent storm that came through the Bay Area, with gusting winds and heavy rainfall. Not a drop came through and the gutters Saber installed performed admirably. Saber Roofing is amazing! We had them replace our roof and gutters. They did a fantastic job with it and it looks amazing! I would recommend them in a heartbeat (and already have!). Their attention to detail is amazing. Here is an example: I had asked for all vents to be upgraded to high-wind vents, but they didn't have the right size available for one of the vents so they used the old one temporarily for two days. Here is the attention-to-detail part: they painted it and fixed the bend in it from before! Yes, that's probably not a lot of extra work, but they cared enough to do that for something they replaced in a few days. Anyone who pays that much attention to what they are doing surely takes pride in their work and I'm confident that this is true about Saber Roofing. Both Jake and Ryan are a pleasure to work with. They answered all of my questions thoughtfully and thoroughly -- and I had a lot of questions. I knew nothing about roofing when I started the quoting process with them and, by the time I signed the contract, I felt like I was making very informed decisions about what will be installed on our roof.
