Second time here in 2 years and so glad! Came on a Thursday for date night and it was not crowded at all. Our server was a very friendly woman who had chips and salsa at our table right away. Within minutes we had drinks. I didn't recall what we had tried last time because it wasn't exactly a memorable experience, so we asked the server for recommendations based on our palate that day. I went with the Fish Tacos, which was served on fresh handmade corn tortillas with a side of delicious rice and beans. The cod fish was fresh and cooked simple yet delicious. However, on a good note the carnitas and shrimp tacos had good flavor. The waitress was nice and attentive so thank you for that. They had way too much sweet sugar in there. My first margarita lacked the alcohol. Meaning she totally forgot to put it in. We ordered Mexican candy shots to give it one more chance. And unfortunately it was Sweet syrup and ice with a straw in a shot glass. It was weird definitely not what it was supposed to be. The bartender, then came up to us and gave us attitude because we were not seeing eye to eye on what we ordered. I recommend the food and the service is great but they need a new bartender. My wife and I live in the neighborhood, and happened along this place yelping. We love Oaxacan food, and were excited to check this place out. It did not disappoint. The food and service were great. We had the mole sampler, quesillo empanadas, and a classic tlayuda. Everything was excellent. Tlayuda was huge, but they're supposed to be, so we get have the rest for dinner. We just drove until we found some thing that was new and open in the area near Rancho Cucamonga. There are so many Mexican food spots, but with minimal amount of tequila selection. This place has a great selection of tequilas and excellent food. It is more of your Spanish style, Mexican food with , an upscale vibe minus the hit to your pocketbook. Irma was a joy, she went over the selections of tequila, and even suggested a few new tequilas we have not tried before. We were there today (3/1/25). The restaurant is now called Sabor a Oaxaca; it's under new membership and the menu is centered around Oaxacan food. The food and drinks were delicious. I tried the amarillo de verduras, the empanadita with cheese and mushrooms, and sopa de frijol, as well as chips con guacamole. It was all very tasty - good quality ingredients and rich flavors. A member of our group grew up in Oaxaca and gave the food his enthusiastic stamp of approval. To drink I tried the house mezcalina, it was also very tasty. The service was prompt and friendly. It's a tad pricey, but then so are all sit-down restaurants these days. Overall, great meal, highly recommend!! read more

The food at this local hidden gem was so delicious. Very tasty, just the right amount of spicy , enough to taste but not too much to handle. It's attempting to be some type of Mexican gourmet but misses the mark. I think they have some plumbing issue we were seated on the south side which smelled like urine. Tried this place out on a Sunday afternoon at about 5:30pm. Not so crowded, maybe 5 tables at most. This place was on point. It featured some Oaxaca drinks and dishes that I've had the privilege to try in Oaxaca city on many visits. The Mezcalito and Cadillac Margarita were excellent. We sampled the aspirinitas that exploded with nostalgic flavor from my childhood. I do have to say the mole I tried was the best mole I've had in the states at a restaurant. The place is really classy but not snobby, our waiter took the time to teach us a thing or two about mescal and it's wonder and was great with my boys. I was worried a bit about how they would be perceived, but this place made me feel welcome. Many great menu items and plenty of appetizers and drinks to choose from. Would I come back again? Absolutely. (Probably without my boys) would want to bring back the wifey here on a date night and enjoy this place a bit more. I ordered the Bahama Mama and is was AmAzInG!! Probably one of the best drinks I've ever had. My friend ordered the mango margarita and said it was delish! Ooooooh Sabor A Mi. It is with such sadness and heartbreaking disappointment that I must leave this review. Have you ever wanted a restaurant to work out sooooo bad that you can envision frequent visits with family and friends? That was definitely the case with my hubby and I. So here's the scenario. Hubbs and I are driving down Archibald on a Friday with friends and see a beautifully lit advertisement for Sabor A Mi. We immediately agreed that we MUST give it a try. The following Tuesday the hubbs and I go give it a try. A little disappointed that the menu was limited to only taco selections (Taco Tuesday) but pleasantly surprised with our choices. We had pork, asada, chicken, and potato tacos. We both had Cadillac Margaritas which were also good. Our waitress (didn't get her name) was friendly, helpful and overall great demeanor. We decided that it was definitely worth trying again on a night that offered the full menu. Fast forward 4 days to Saturday, 6pm for a party of 6. We were greeted by the same awesome waitress. Restaurant was less than 1/2 full. There were no tables set up for a party of 6 but the waitress was confident and assuring that she could make it work. HERE'S WERE EVERYTHING WENT SOUTH...QUICK!!! The OWNER of the business (in the picture below) bolted from behind the bar to tell us that she could NOT ACCOMODATE us and if we wanted to wait it would be over 30 minutes. Looking around at all of the empty tables, we were puzzled but agreed to wait none-the-less. We decided that we would have drinks at the bar while we waited. The owner decides that we cannot sit at the bar because we have children with us (the youngest people in our group were 29). We advised her that we were all of age to which she DEMANDED to see identifications. After showing i.d. the owner then decides there is not enough room for us at the bar either. She then had the audacity to tell us "you can wait outside for a table". And when we asked why outside, she replied "it is not a good look for you all to be waiting right here". What the heck lady??? This was one of the most blatant acts of racism that I've experienced in my 53 years. Mrs. Sabor A Mi, we are all productive, positive, kind individuals that went to your establishment to celebrate a birthday. Your disparate treatment towards our group was unwarranted, distasteful, and flat out discriminatory!!! You turned away 2 senior citizens, 2 mentally disabled women, law enforcement, nurses, volunteers.......who also happen to be LONG-TERM residents of the city that you chose to place your business.
