i ordered the tallarin saltado and my girlfriend ordered the lomo saltado. nothing was left on the plates. the portions are big so make sure to bring an appetite. definitely coming here again

Probably one of the best Peruvian places I've tried in southern California. This is a small family owned restaurant in the corner of a small plaza. When we arrived, we were greeted by our nice lady who started us off with waters. She may have been the owner. She was friendly and helped us with our orders as it was our first time at the restaurant. For a party of 4 we ordered: Ceviche Mixto - 10/10 best Peruvian ceviche I've had. And it was full of a variety of seafood - octopus, fish, shrimp, squid. The sauce was perfect. My only complaint is that I wish I had more. Lomo Saltado with noodles - 10/10 This wasn't my order but I wish it was. It

It was perfectly seasoned and the meat was tender and juicy Tallarin Verde Con Pollo - 9/10 only because the lomo saltado was so good and I wish that it was my order. The chicken was still good, although just a tad on the dry side....

The noodles were very flavorful and very saucy as well saltado de mariscos 10/10 delicious. It was full of seafood and very well flavored. Highly recommend for seafood lovers Aguadito de pollo 10/10 Very heart soup. This could be its own meal if you aren't extremely hungry. The soup is savory and so good on a cold day. If you love hearty soups with lots of flavor, this is a go-to! All of the plates were large and very delicious. Next time I 'll be back to order a soup for myself! Highly recommend this location if you're ever in the mood for Peruvian food or want to try something new. You won't be disappointed!

My son enjoyed the tallerin verde con pollo and he's particular with the foods he eats, and he ate everything. Sabor a Peru will definitely be our go to for Peruvian food!

The drinks, Maracuya and Chicha Morada, were also wonderful! Our server went to great lengths to explain the dishes and how to prepare and enjoy them. Wonderful experience! We will be back on the weekend to enjoy the empanadas!

Es 1 gema escondida, la comida es divina! Todo lo que hemos probado está súper fresco, hecho al momento, las sugerencias del chef están al punto. Mi mamá encontró este lugarcito por casualidad, decidimos probarlo y vaya que sorpresa más agradable; desde ese entonces seguimos viniendo y lo he recomendado a familia, amigos en el trabajo, todo el que ha ido le ha encantado. Nuestro platillo favorito es el Lomo Saltado y Pollo saltado.

Sabor a Peru is always a great place to come and get your Peruvian food fix in the area. This place is so welcoming to the patrons. The entrees are always hot when they come out. Try the steak empanadas which are a nice appetizer. Made with nice chunks of steak and piping hot when it comes out. Don't forget the ají sauce. Great food and great service.

4 stars is for the whole experience. I give 3 stars for the food, and 1 extra for the great service. The restaurant was very clean and has nice, vibrant framed art. Service was very friendly and quickly while the food was still served piping hot, for the most part. I ordered the lomo saltado, chaufa de pollo, and a beef empanada . The food smelled really good when it was handed over. The lomo saltado had a lot of visible pepper but it wasn't overwhelming. The other place I like to order the dish from has a bit more sauce, flavor, and tender meat. I didn't mind this restaurant's version overall and finished the leftovers. The aji verde has a good kick to it which helped elevate the dish, and is probably one of the things I liked most. Unfortunately I really didn't enjoy the chaufa de pollo. The first bite or two was okay but I realized it was overly salted. I had someone else try it and they agreed. I did not finish this one. The empanada was served cold but the flavor was good and the meat was tender. It has great reviews on here so maybe I'll give it another try.

First time at "Sabor a Peru", stopped in after the gym. Place was clean, people were super friendly. I ordered the chaufa de pollo and tallarin verde con carne. Both were delicious. They mentioned a lot of people come for the ceviche so will have to try that next time

Had the best meal with my mom at this Peruvian spot and I already can't wait to go back. We ordered the ceviche, tallarín verde, and lomo saltado con chow mein, and everything tasted incredibly fresh (the staff even told us it's all made in-house, which you can absolutely tell). Every dish felt like it was made fresh! We finished with lucuma ice cream and homemade alfajores, which were the perfect ending. Such a warm, family-run restaurant serving truly authentic food. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

This place is a small restaurant located in the corner of a small plaza that has some simple decor and posters broadcasting their food. The interior is clean with several tables and a few Christmas decorations up. We ordered a tallarin Verde, bistec a la pobre with sunny side up egg, and chaufa al pollo. The chicken fried rice is delicious with plenty of meat and not overly oily if a bit salty. The green spaghetti was rich with cheese but could use more pesto or whatever green condiment they use. The beef on both beef dishes was tender, but lacked impact in terms of seasoning. The fries and plantains on the bistec was pretty good, but I didnt try the white rice or egg. All in all the food was very delicious, with the favorite being the chicken fried rice, but there is a discrepancy in price due to them using outdated menus at the time. Something worth checking out if you enjoy Peruvian food or are in the area for other matters.

Mom and Pop place in Covina, my guy wanted to try. Nice young man waited on us, gave us a quick "my grandmother's recipes." A rundown. I ordered my favorite Peruvian dish Saltado de pollo, which was a huge portion and very tasty. My guy ordered the Tallarin de pollo which is with spaghetti noodles , delicious as well. Portion s are huge so shareable. The service was ok, the food delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant.

The restaurant is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall with ample parking. We came during lunchtime on a weekday right when they opened so we were the first patrons there. Inside looks a little dated, but it was clean. We were greeted warmly by an employee who offered some good suggestions. We ended up trying 3 different chicken dishes. It took a little while to get our food but understandable as we saw that same employee over the stove, flames flying, cooking our food from scratch. I got the Pollo a lo Pobre and the chicken was moist and flavored nicely, I loved the addition of the egg to the rice and of course plantains to complete this very tasty dish. We all enjoyed our meals and devoured it quickly. It looks like we will be adding this to our lunch rotation!

Great little spot with delicious eats. I got the lomo saltado and tallarines Verde and they were both well made and filling. Their alfajores cookies are amazing! Definitely recommend trying them if you haven't. These peruvian cookies have a firm crust with caramel in the middle. Call ahead or go early because they tend to sell out of the cookies, but even then they have other great options to eat. The staff was so friendly and so attentive. It's always a treat to go back!

You can't see this business from the street. It's tucked in the corner. My Peruvian friend and I ordered the Lomo Saltado and a mixto Marisco platter with shrimp, octopus, etc. which had a few pieces of fried shrimp on top. The Mariscos came with lots of marinade called "Leche de Tigre." According to the owner, this marinade cures colds and flus. These dishes were so fresh and flavorful. Their seasonings were on point. We also ordered a sweet purple corn drink that's made from corn at 13,000 feet in the Andes. It's big enough inside to have a large group and catering is also available. The owner was very kind and we talked about the struggles of being a small business owner and how his business is word of mouth or Yelpers. We were the only ones in there for lunch on a Thursday. Please support this small business.

I haven't been here in a long time and since I was craving Peruvian food, I wanted to see if the flavors are better than other known Peruvian restaurants in the area. The cashier taking orders was sweet and taking my order was quick. I waited about 10-15 minutes for my food and I could smell the amazing aromatics in the air. I ordered a Pollo Saltado and Lomo Saltado. I needed to find out which one I prefer and figured my son would choose the one he loved. The portion of the dish is plenty to share. The beef has great flavor but, I wish it was cooked medium. It was slightly tough but, overall a great dish. My preference was the chicken. The flavor profile is delicious and if you like garlic, you'll love the chicken! In my humble opinion, these flavors beat the other known Peruvian restaurants in the area. Please checkout this restaurant if you're in the mood for a comfort meal.

I might be biased because of my cultural background but Peruvian food is the best food on the planet, so when I was looking for a place to eat, Sabor a Perú did not disappoint! The service was great, we talked to Samuel and he was nothing but kind and even shared a few facts about the place and culture! This is my second time coming here and I can honestly say this is hands down my favorite place to get Peruvian food. The lomo saltado is packed with flavor and everything is cooked to order. I've been to other popular places in LA like Mario's but I can say this place is a million times better. Definitely a hole in the wall place but doesn't mean they lack anything. The Chicha Morada (drink) is so refreshing and not overly sweet like I've had at other places. This is my second time showing up within an hour of closing and the doña and chef have made me feel nothing but comfortable and never rush me to finish my meal. They are so inviting and welcoming and that's part of the reason I came back here. In conclusion this is a spot you definitely don't wanna miss! I'll be back here with my Peruvian friends to get their take on the place but I'm sure they'll love it ! 10/10 read more

Ceviche de pescado was delicious - acidity and saltiness was perfect. Lomo Saltado and Tallarin Verde Con Carne was seasoned perfectly. The Con Carne was soft and the verde sauce was not too overpowering with pesto which is how I like it! Service was so friendly!!! We love mom and pop establishments!!! We popped into this little hidden gem at 10:30 after a Sunday morning hike. Even though they technically open at 11, The gentleman there welcomed our hungry family in. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance - Peruvian music, beautiful decor, and colorful table cloths. It was also nice walking into a freshly cleaned restaurant. Drinks and Order was taken quickly, food was fired up and served quickly, and it was soooo delicious. I've had my fair share of Peruvian cuisine and I really enjoyed the menu variety and it tasted really good compared to other Peruvian restaurants our family has frequented. We enjoyed the yucca fritas, platanos Fritos, lomo Saltado, and tallarine verde polo. Everything was perfectly made and served. If we're in the mood for Peruvian food again, I imagine we will return here. Thank you for a great experience. read more

If you're looking for authentic Peruvian cuisine, this is the place. It's a small , hidden, comfy, hole in the wall Mom-&-Pop restaurant in a corner strip mall in Covina. Owned and ran by a wonderful Peruvian family. The flavors are AMAAAAAZING!!! My favorite dish is the chicken and shrimp tallarin saltado with noodles (normally comes with rice...trust me and get the noodles!) Also their platanos are excellent. TAKE-OUT REVIEW Wanted to grab something really quick before my girlfriend's work and was lowkey craving lomo saltado! Not that far of a drive from Target in Covina, we drove just a bit further down into a small parking lot, and tucked in the corner of it was our destination. Food: We ordered the lomo saltado which is beef and fries with a few toppings like onions. Also ordered the plantanas which came with a sauce that didn't taste very good. The lomo saltado wasn't that good, as the sauce tasted very generic. Soy sauce, garlic. Saw an egg in the photo reviews for this place and we didn't even get an egg! Service: Service was pretty bad. The older man behind the register seemed like he didn't really care for our business and took a really long time to cook our two items. I want to say about 35 minutes or so and there was only one party ahead of us. We definitely won't be coming back. If you're looking for good Peruvian food, I recommend a spot in Rowland Heights that's Japanese/Peruvian fusion. Trust me, take your money there instead. read more

Wow!!!! Probably one of the best Peruvian restaurants i've eaten at in the last decade. What made it so special? The papa la huacaina always dictates if the chef knows what he or she is doing. This place knocked it out of the park. No wakatay sauce needed to spice up a notch either. Simply delicious and well presented but a tad bit of a small portion. The tararin verde was rich with basil flavor and the lomo saltado was consistent with red vinegar and tasty red onion and potatoes. My wife and I left nothing behind. The alfajordes were sold out and i can understand why. Almost everything in this restaurant is made fresh. Even their pastries. The menu is limited to other Peruvian favorites but that's ok. They had other items like ceviche and aguadito to compensate for a small menu. We found our new go to for authentic Peruvian take out. read more

I drove by this place twice looking for it, it's located in the same plaza as Mariposa. I chose to get the chica morada (purple corn drink) and lomo saltado (beef with sliced onions and tomatoes with rice and french fries in soy sauce). I like that the lomo saltado wasn't too salty and that they didn't fill the plate with just french fries. The beef was tender and it was marinated well. $1 fee to use card, if you pay with cash it's a $1 cheaper. The place is clean and the staff is nice. read more

COME HERE!!! If you're from around the area, most people usually think of two spots when people say Peruvian food - Mr. Pollo, the OG spot, and Misky Misky, the bougie full-service counterpart to Mr. Pollo (owned by the same people.) I don't really know how long this has been here (searching the reviews, apparently about since late 2018?). Regardless, MOVE OVER Mr. Pollo/Misky Misky! This is the spot to come. It's tucked away into the corner of a tiny mini strip mall plaza off of Rowland and you'd honestly miss it if you weren't looking for it. This stretch of road isn't really the most well known for restaurants so I've never seen it too packed. But it should be! Not only are the people that run the place so nice, the food is great! My top recommendation is the Tallarin Saltado (with Chicken) but the Tallarin Verde with ají verde sauce is also bomb. Have tried the Chaufa (fried rice) which doesn't disappoint. Anyway what I'm saying is EVERYTHING here is great! Come and try one dish, come again and try something else. It's super no-frills inside but the food is not to miss. read more

Very good service and food. Cost about $20 a plate but it has very good taste. They do get busy and the space is small but they are fast with their service. I would recommend coming. First time trying Peruvian food and holy crap! Very rarely do I ever consider getting seconds of everything I ordered and I would have if my stomach could handle it! Flavors are citrusy and very clean. Everything is incredibly fresh and you can definitely taste it. I chatted with one of the owners and he's very friendly and accommodating. I love that it's family run with husband as front of the house and wife working her magic as the chef. Definitely will be back again and telling everyone to give this little place a try! read more

AA+ Got the lomo saltado, yucca, and alfajores. This place is the real deal. They're 3 months in and the food is excellent. Served fresh to order. The meat is fresh, succulent, and tender. Its unpretentious, humble, and smells like my moms cooking. The staff is super friendly - Samuel is a true gentleman - host who took the time show his interest in our comfort and even chatted about the history of the area. I will definately keep coming back. This restaurant did not disappoint. It's clean, vibrant with decor and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The dish I ordered, Lomo Saltado, was DELICIOUS! It was freshly made, had great flavor and to top it off, the steak was very tender! The green sauce that was along side the dish was very tasty. The food was Amazing. Peruvian food is absolutely underrated. Come here, try the lomo saltado, drench it in their green sauce, try their ceviche, and the plantains. TRUST ME. We drove 45 minutes for this food. Can't wait to come back. The portions are massive as well. read more
