Just before the pandemic hit, my wife and I had dinner here with friends we were visiting who live nearby in Olmos Park. This is their go to neighborhood Mexican restaurant and it is very good. I grew up in nearby Austin and even after having been away from Texas for a long time I still miss the Mexican food. I haven't found anywhere in the Twin Cities that has Mexican food (okay I know it is Tex Mex but it is still great) that can compare to South Texas. I think that the clientele in the area are so sophisticated with regards to Mexican food that Mexican restaurant with mediocre food can't stay in business. I had the chicken breast mole which was served with the standard beans and rice accompaniments. I also had an obligatory Margarita. I probably would not order the mole again not because it wasn't good but because mole isn't my favorite but I have to eat it occasionally just to remind myself. My wife had the traditional enchiladas and enjoyed her meal. I would probably get this when I return which I hope I will. read more

I don't know why it took me so long to write a review but I had to go there several times to realize that these were the best chilaquiles I've ever tried. Just amazing the crunchiness of the tostada and the Salsas are delicious. For those who don't like spicy, try the mole chilaquiles OMG just deliciousness in a plate. If I could go every Sunday I would. Definite hangover cure lol. great place and great service as well everyone is very welcoming. read more

I tried Sabor out immediately after landing in SAT with a group of 4 people. It was legit! The waiter recommend I get their chicken in the green cream sauce and oh em gee it was so decadent and delicious. The prices were reasonable, the portions were big, and the food was tasty. I would recommend it! read more

We both got Huevos Divorciados, we both got mole sauce which was amazing but needed the second sauce to cut the richness. Both red and green were legit but the edge goes to green sauce for sauce #2. Beans were really good! Coffee was great - friendly service also. Would go back, and recommend to friends...and enemies. read more

This place was just OK. The chips and salsa were good but the guacamole lacked flavor. They also mix in a lot of lettuce with the guac. I ordered shrimp cocktail because it's June and I wanted something cool and fresh. This also lacked flavor almost no cilantro, onions could have been diced better and the sauce itself was a little too sweet for my taste. It was not accompanied by limes, Tabasco or Valentina sauce. The patio is really nice but don't think I'll be going back. read more

The Chiliquiles are the best. Highly recommended the verde sauce and bravo sauce for the spicy lover. Dinner is so-so. I rather go to Mary Lou's down the street for the price. They serve more food. read more

Just left from having the most underwhelming meal ever. The decor at this place is lovely but that is where the compliments end. The people seemed nice enough but our service was pretty lousy. It took a good 15 min just to be acknowledged and take drink order and that's because we had to flag someone down. The food was also very blah. I ordered fish tacos which had zero flavor. I had to douse them in salsa for any flavor. Daughter had kids enchilada which took quite a while to come out. Husband got pollo de cilantro which was okay. With so many options for Mexican food in San Antonio we will not be back. read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about this restaurant. The enchiladas are so flavorful and unique, and are not enchiladas that you will come across in your typical restaurant in San Antonio. My favorites are the mole enchiladas and the enchiladas aztecas, both of which have flavorful sauces that will blow you away. The chilequiles are also something that you need to try from here as all of the sauces are to die for. My favorite is the chipotle and bravo with bravo being the spicier of the two. The service here depends on how crowded it is, but it's generally really good. The coffee here is my favorite as it has cinnamon and brown sugar in it, you have to try it! I would definitely recommend this place as I eat here about 3-4 times a month. read more

I was so excited about this little gem tucked away in a neighborhood. This place offers some of the best service I've had in San Antonio! My waitress was exceptional!!!! The food was even better! I ordered a michelada with dos xx and the verde y mole chilaquiles with egg ....to die for!!!!!! I highly recommend this place as opposed to the hustle and bustle of the river walk!!!! read more

If you like chilaquiles, then this is THE PLACE in San Antonio!!! We love going for brunch, but every meal is extraordinary. The drinks are fabulous. Great patio. Sports on TV if you need. Javi the bartender is so attentive and knows the perfect drink to make per your preferences. Oh and I usually never order waffles at a Mexican restaurant, but they are so good at Sabor that I'll get the waffles fresa as a side dish!!! read more

Best mole chilaquiles, the sauce is the best I've ever had!! Coffee is also great, tastes like cafe de olla from Mexico. I would say that Savor Restaurant is one of the, if not the, best Mexican Food I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. This is coming from someone who was born and raised in San Antonio. Great food flare, beautiful dishes and very appetizing! The owner and his wife are very kind people. And if you think their lunches are good..you have got to try their homemade waffles & glorious pancakes. Maybe the best in the city.. bar none! read more

So good!! We came to San Antonio to sell a guitar and this place was right across the street so we had to stop by. Our waiter, Moses, was incredibly nice and we felt completely comfortable eating here during COVID. Tables weren't too close at all. The food was so so good! Moses recommended some enchiladas for my boyfriend and they were some of the best he's add, ever!!! I can't wait to come back to San Antonio one day and come here!! 10/10 recommend!! read more

This place was delicious. We walked in 30 minutes before they closed and they did not turn us away. I usually don't walk in before a restaurant closes but they were going to reopen in a couple of hours. Our hostess was nice and friendly. Our waitress was sweet and nice. She misunderstood my child's order but corrected it right away. The food was delicious. We ordered the guacamole and queso flameado and they were tasty. The Chicken Mole enchilada were amazing, a little spicy for me but still delicious. We are definitely coming back again to try their breakfast. read more

The chilaquiles verdes were on point. The waffles fluffy with fresh fruit and the nachos were superb with great guacamole. The nachos did take a while, but our waitress and the owner both came by to apologize and gave it on the house. The atmosphere is trendy, but the place is a bit on the smaller side so be prepared to wait for big groups. read more

And I think our drink orders were basically added at the end of the drink queue when we arrived to pick up our order. We didn't get any sort of priority because we'd technically ordered ahead. We essentially skipped the line, but not the queue on drinks. All in all, I'd definitely want to visit again. The food and drinks WERE really great. I had the avocado toast with chicken and for a seemingly simple dish it was absolutely phenomenal. The abuelita's was the best of the 3 iced coffee offerings we tried, and I would definitely order again. But we'll definitely have to plan/strategize around crowds and be prepared for a long wait even if we order ahead.

The recurring major flaw, is the way the restaurant inside was designed. It is beautiful but made with all hard surfaces. Nothing present to absorb sounds. As a result sounds inside magnify to a point our servers have had to bend over or take a knee to gather clients food orders during busy times. I feel like I am ar a big Spurs game with the sound bouncing around. Those at our table have had a hard time to have a conversation with each other at times. The small room up front is designed so sound bouncing off hard surfaces is worst in this room. I have had to ask to be relocated twice from this room due the sound level. The kitchen area in the front do not have doors to abd from the kitcgen to the dinibg rooms. Another design flaw, as a result the seating areas loud sound comes into the kitchen area. I can not imagine how the staff communicate to each other in this work setting.

It's almost like a vacation, for your taste buds. Sabor Cocinabar is like a getaway for your tastebuds. Located in Olmos Park, San Antonio, here you can find the taste of real Mexican food. This is Sabor Cocinabar, what I believe is going to be a very successful business. This restaurant has a calm outside setting plus an outdoor seating area. There is greenery in front of the restaurant that adds color to the presentation of the restaurant. There are a couple of wooden steps leading up to the dark blue double doors. When you walk in the restaurant you are greeted by the owner of the restaurant or a nice worker, Pablo or Pedro. I would like to include right now to take some time to appreciate the owners. The first thing most people would notice are the three large paintings they have on the wall. They usually have either Mexican or American music playing from a speaker. Once they seat you and hand you menu's, the waiter comes over and hands your table chips and chipotle sauce. If you don't like that sauce there's more to choose from such as Poblana, Verdes, Mole sauce. They have a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. On the menu you can find real, fresh, authentic food. The majority of the food on the menu are made from family recipes. They have tacos, salads, chilaquiles, and my personal favorite enchiladas de queso that can be found on the lunch or dinner menu. I love the food presentation on all the dishes. You get the taste of a Mexican home cooked meal inspired from their hometown, San Jose De Gracia, Michoacán and have homemade tortillas. They have different choices of wine, soft drinks, coffee, and a couple choices of lemonade. Overall the food is outstanding and I would definitely rate five out of five stars. I visited Sabor Cocina in San Antonio and had such a great experience--this place is definitely worth checking out. The space itself is super cute, with plenty of seating inside, but the real highlight is the outdoor patio. I highly recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice. It's the perfect spot to relax with a margarita or beer and enjoy time with friends or family, especially in the evening. The patio is decorated with flowers and charming details that give it a really calm, inviting vibe. I went on a Saturday afternoon around 2 PM and was seated right away with no wait. I chose to sit outside, and it made the experience even better. The service was excellent. My waiter was attentive the entire time--checking in regularly, keeping my drinks refilled, and making sure I always had chips and salsa. He was friendly and made the whole visit feel easy and enjoyable. For drinks, I ordered the hibiscus margarita, and it was perfect. It had just the right balance of sweetness and alcohol--the liquor wasn't overpowering at all, which I really appreciated. For food, I tried the mixed enchiladas, and they were delicious. You get three different enchiladas with three different sauces, which made the dish really fun to try. They actually reminded me a lot of the enchiladas at Soluna, so if you like those, you'll probably enjoy these too. The rice and beans on the side were also very flavorful and complemented the meal well. Overall, this is a good spot for reasonably priced and good food, great service, and a relaxing atmosphere. I visited this restaurant today with my mom--the ambiance was nice, and the staff seemed engaged with their tables. But what left a sour taste had nothing to do with the cuisine. Throughout my meal, I noticed the manager moving from table to table, greeting the diners, checking in, and even offering compliments or conversation. Strangely, our table was entirely ignored. No eye contact, no "How's everything going?"--nothing. At first, I wondered if it was an oversight. But after seeing this happen repeatedly, it felt intentional. As a guest, being overlooked like that is disheartening. It sends an unspoken message: some diners matter more than others. The lack of acknowledgment left me questioning the culture of hospitality here. A simple hello or a gesture of interest would have gone a long way. To be fair, the server was polite and attentive. But dining out is more than just eating--it's about feeling welcome. Unfortunately, that's where this experience fell flat. I hope management reflects on the importance of inclusivity in guest engagement. Every diner deserves to feel valued. read more

Since I discovered Sabor Cocinabar we've been coming here pretty much every weekend. We live 45 minutes away!! That should tell you something. :) Food is DELICIOUS! My favorite plate is Chilaquiles De Mole with pollo (Mole has that sweet taste like the mole my Mother used to make!! YUM). Now the coffee... is BOMB! I make a creamy poblano sauce, but this may have been better. The Burris quesadillas were tender and full of flavor. The Al pastor street tacos were excellent as well. These days, no place you go out is really "cheap." So, if you are paying for dinner out, you really want it to be better than what you would make at home. This place fit the bill with generous portions and high quality food. When we are in town, this will definitely be our go-to spot for TexMex.

I asked our server if the bistec taco was a top seller, and she seemed to take that as me ordering it which I get, things get busy, but it felt a little rushed. For appetizers, we ordered the guacamole and the chile con queso. The queso was actually pretty good and probably the highlight of the meal. The guacamole, however, fell flat for me. it definitely needed salt, pepper, and a good squeeze of lemon or lime to bring it to life. As for the entrees, I ordered the bistec tacos and was honestly disappointed. The meat was rubbery and lacked flavor. My husband got the shrimp aguachiles, and the shrimp were extremely soft almost raw and just tossed in the sauce. The presentation was beautiful, but it was missing that bright citrus and seasoning that really makes aguachiles shine. The seafood overall had a fishy/shrimpy taste that didn't come across as fresh. My mother-in-law ordered the Torre de mariscos, which leaned heavily on soy sauce and ended up overpowering the dish rather than enhancing it. Overall, the food just didn't wow us. Maybe my expectations are a little higher as a NOLA foodie, but this one missed the mark. Would I go back? Probably not.
