Thank you yelp for such a great suggestion! I was in the area and looked on Yelp for a lunch spot. Found Sabor Cocina and it's great reviews and it was spot on! The chips and salsa they serve before the meal was so good! The salsa was different than other places and i would really like the recipe . I had chicken mole. It was served with chicken breast covered in mole sauce with refríes beans and Mexican red rice. And it was delicious! I did notice they had a happy hour specials. So I can't wait to go with friends! The menu looked good. They had a lot of dishes that offered beef, chicken & sea food from solos to tacos & enchiladas. The staff was so friendly and they had great suggestions. Went for brunch on a Saturday. Service was outstanding, prices are very reasonable, especially relative to quality, and it was all in all a great weekend meal. Chips and salsa were fresh and good, mixed chicken/beef nachos were excellent, chilaquiles (rojo and verde) with scrambled egg were delicious and in no way greasy. I've been thinking about San Antonio lately. My first few times here, I kinda didn't "get" this town. The more time I spend, the more I think "I could really live here". Sabor Cochinabar is helping make a STRONG case for San Antonio as a great city and Hellufa foodie town. Tex-Mex is great, and SA Has more than it's fair share, and breakfast tacos(!!!!!) are proof that god loves south Texas and wants us to be happy (as far as I am concerned). Sabor Cocinabar however is NOT Tex-Mex. Its Mexico City- style Mexican food. It's a little more sophisticated and slightly more fussy and freaking delicious. -think about the difference between Cajun food and Creole, city food vs country food. -both amazing, just different styles. The pollo cilantro I just ate was not just effing delicious, it's a style of Mexican food I've never had before and I'm literally angry that I live 5 hours away and I'll have to drive back here and try everything else on the menu. It was that good. I have seldom had service as friendly and hyper-competent and wonderful as Pedro just gave. What a great guy and what a fantastic suggestion on the pollo cilantro. So on that moving to San Antonio question....? I'm still thinking about it. But the decision is getting harder/easier all the time. read more

Best Mexican food (specifically Chilaquiles) in San Antonio! I've only been here twice, but the experiences have been so pleasant. Attentive staff is crucial for me when it comes to going out and the staff at Sabor are as good as it gets. I had the Chilaquiles Verdes, that green sauce is so savory. I recommend throwing a couple over easy eggs atop and some meat too. I enjoyed a decadent piece of their in-house made Choco Flan! Had some of a friends Tres Leches, which was also so amazing. I go to this restaurant at least 4x a month. The service is always very good, and the food is always delicious. Today, I went and it was very busy, but calmed down after an hour. I decided to get a margarita today, which I have t had in a long time. My waitress made it, the first time she ever made a raspberry margarita, and it was delicious!!! So, I asked her for the check: she brought it to me and I gave her my card - I was still drinking my margarita, then she brought it back to me and asked me, "can you please hurry up and sign it?" I guess she could tell from the WTF loom on my face that I didn't appreciate that. So, she tells me, "I need to give the pen back to the front desk because it's the only one they have, I only have." LIKE SERIOUSLY????? My bill was $28, and I was going to leave her $10 because she made a BOMB margarita, but I left her $2 instead. First time here from Houston, TX. Visiting San Antonio I will make the 3 hrs drive just to come and eat here and go back home. The food is the boom. Small location but doesn't matter. This restaurant brought me home. Everything was cooked to perfection, it was almost unreal. The rice was the perfect color with the most amazing balance of flavor. And that's just the rice! I had the enchilada mixtas, the tampequina, rajas de crema, ceviche, tres leches cake, and a delicious, well-made margarita (I cant remember the name but my boyfriend got the OP and loved it too). Honestly, everything made me very happy and kept reminding me of my family's cooking back home in El Paso. The food was fresh and the employees were fun to joke around with (we sat at the bar.)
