Mezze: Faro (2), lentils(2), eggplant(2), Brussel sprouts(2), broccolini, okra Faves were lentils, Faro, and okra. The lentils were so tasty and full of flavor. Appetizers: chilled octopus... yummy Dinner: my husband and I split a 1/2 order of the spicy goat pasta and Iberico Secreto. Both were soooo good. We finished it all off. Others at the table got branzino (so so), Butternut Squash Agnolotti (good), short rib pasta (good), Trout (good) Dessert:They were out of the 2 desserts we ordered (chocolate mouse and apple tart). Lovely restaurant! I took my parents when they were visiting from Minnesota, and overall it was a good experience! We made a reservation in advance. Our server was attentive and explained everything on the menu (this was a bit much at one point, because he kept talking to us about the bone marrow, which we didn't have any interest in trying). We started with two meze, the olives (really delicious!) and the broccolini (which was chilled--delicious but I was expecting a warm broccolini), and the flatbread. The herbs on the flatbread were really fresh and flavor packed. I had the salmon kabob and the roasted cauliflower salad for my entree. Both were fantastic. We split the almond cake for dessert, which was ok, but not something I'd order again. My only complaint about the food was that everything was over salted for my taste. Decided to try Sachet our 19th anniversary. We're both very glad we did. The space is comfortable in a very classic manner with booths and tables. But this is no diner. Beautifully lit with a bar situated in the middle of the restaurant, Sachet feels elegant in a European sort of way. Wait staff were engaging, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and gave us a feeling of ease. As for the food: superb! We had pita and green fava bean falafel - a great pairing as an appetizer. We both had pasta for our main courses: SQUID INK SPAGHETTI little neck clams, pork sausage, white wine, chile as well as TAGLIATELLE shrimp, basil, cherry tomatoes, garlic, These dynamic dishes are both uniquely layered with multidimensional flavors; the squid ink spaghetti both high and deep and the tagliatelle soft, light, textured, and very satisfying. If you are looking for lighter Mediterranean fare and the ultra Dallas ambiance consisting of great people watching and beautiful design Sachet is where it's at Our group of 8 arrived and was seated at a high top immediately under our reservation. With nearly no guidance or warning the very attentive staff made sure we all had cocktails (Sassy Sipper if you dare) and began bringing out plates and plates of dishes we weren't aware we had ordered. After a bit of confusion the manager confirmed because our party was larger than 6 we were required to have the family style chef's choice dinner... which was incredible I'll add! The family style meal was 4 waves of 5 different dishes including a wave of desserts. Overall the food was incredible and unlike any other Mediterranean spot in the area, but a bit too much required food for a party of our size. 3.5/5 - i came here before a gala on a Saturday night around 5:30 for dinner and it wasn't busy at all which i was happy about. I will say that you need to do some good research/have a better waiter that explains the dishes that you order as certain ones were not explained to us and we assumed them to be hot and they came out cold and vice versa (ie - the Brussels sprouts and beet hummus). I will say that the short rib ravioli was by far the best thing on the menu! Their pita is also amazing. I will say the orecchiette was also good, but steer clear of the chicken leg as it was incredibly dry. Overall, not sure i will be back as the price adds up and you really don't get that much food for your buck. read more

Went last night and ate at the bar - Zach served us. Everything was perfect. The food was well seasoned and perfectly cooked, the space is beautiful and clean, and the service was truly a cut above. We came here last night (Christmas Eve) with another couple, and everybody was excited to be there because we'd all heard great things about it. And we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Sachet is operated by the Gemma folks, where we had one of our best meals ever in Dallas back when we lived here. The decor and layout is gorgeous and classy without being stuffy. The cocktails (a gin mahon and Sachet Manhattan) we started with were great, but please include straws for the ones on ice! We got one meze (yellow beets), two salads (kale/raddiccio and the Greek), and an appetizer (charred octopus) to share. The golden beets were nicely cooked, and the hummus was great, but the labne got lost in the dish, so that was a bummer. If there was oregano, we didn't taste it. The kale salad was good, but the Greek was a big disappointment--it was mostly just butter leaves and cauliflower without a pronounced dressing or unification to the dish. The octopus we thoroughly enjoyed. For dinner, the two of us split the branzino, and for $30, there should have been more on the plate than just some wilted swiss chard and almonds with the fish. Service was unrefined. Our waiter was very kind, but he was oversuggesting in a blatant attempt to stack the bill, and seemed downright crestfallen when we didn't get the five meze that he had strongly suggested. Then he wanted to clear all the app plates when we were half done and we had to tell him to leave them, and then somebody else cleared them (without asking) when they were still a quarter full. Also--and this is such a pet peeve that boggles the mind when it happens in an upscale place: DO NOT CLEAR DINNER PLATES FROM THE TABLE WHEN SOMEONE AT THE TABLE IS STILL EATING. C'mon!! That's, like, such a basic rule. IT IS SO RUDE. Then, and this was glorious, we got served two dessert plates along with our chocolate-tahini mousse. Yes, let's dump the spooned mousse from the glass onto the plate, and then spoon it back up to eat. (The mousse was really good, by the way, but the chocolate overpowered the tahini.) All said, this place would be four stars if service had gone better. But if you're going to charge those Highland Park prices for pretty good--as opposed to really good--food, then everything else better be tight as hell. Outstanding Middle Eastern infused shared plates restaurant. Really neat concept in Dallas. Decor was very chic and modern. Excellent food. Beet hummus , poached salmon, and lamb chops were all great! My favorite was the octopus, cooked perfectly and so tender it was incredible. My first meal in Dallas.. and it was a total disappointment :( I had high hopes since it was apparently voted best new restaurant and got high praises from Eater. I ordered takeout from here through Postmates (did not dine in) so this is just based on the food. I ordered 3 things: Brussel sprouts meze - Meh, nothing special. Sat in a ton of oil, wasn't very appetizing Charred octopus - This was the most flavorless, tasteless octopus I've ever had. Usually when you char something it adds flavor, but it was so bland! I desperately needed salt + pepper, but I was in a hotel room so I just ate the flavorless octopus Lobster spaghetti - STAY AWAY. First of all, the pasta was basically just plain spaghetti with a slightly spicier tomato sauce (tastes cheap like spaghetti-o or some canned stuff). In total, I counted 3 pieces of lobster (I think?) the size of my pinky fingernail. It was so little and not even a bite I couldn't even tell you how the lobster was. This is the amount of lobster I got despite being charged 60% ($10) more for a larger portion (that I didn't even ask for). I wonder if they skimped on the lobster on purpose because I ordered takeout and I wouldn't be in-person to complain and send it back. The extra $10 was just more pasta and tomato sauce. The pasta and tomato sauce were nothing special, the pasta probably comes in a box, tastes like something I could whip up together at home with cheap premade ingredients. I checked the dinner menu price and it says lobster spaghetti is $17 on the Sachet website, but I was charged $27 (additional 60%). Not sure who made the call without my consent, the restaurant or Postmates, but a $10 upcharge that was totally unexpected is very annoying. I triple checked bc I thought I missed something. No where on the menu or website did I see that a $10 upcharge for entree option even existed and that was certainly NOT what I wanted. I'm staying in a hotel room with no mini fridge so now I just have a ton of tomato sauce and pasta that I have to throw out. I spent $52 on takeout (before tip + delivery fee) for myself and Sachet couldn't even bother to include cutlery or a napkin. I'm staying in a hotel so I had to phone the hotel to ask them to send me cutlery and that took 25 min. I don't mind spending a lot of money on food if it's worth it, but the food quality was just so poor. Since I didn't dine in, I can't comment on the atmosphere or service, and maybe that's where all the raves reviews are for? Maybe all these stars are just for the ambience. I only experienced the food and I didn't like a single thing I ordered. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it and will not be returning. read more

Another winner for the owners of Gemma. All the dishes that we tried were great in both taste and presentation. The wait was quite long so I would advise a reservation. The food portions were adequate, not Texas sized. As the appetizers we had 3 meze dishes and the stuffed squid all were tasty. We had the swordfish which was perfectly cooked and the green garlic tortiglioni, which was al dente and delicious. We had 2 desserts, the doughnuts with chocolate and lavender honey and the chocolate dessert both were not too sweet and a perfect way to end the evening. read more

Really inviting setting for dinner. We had excellent service. Great wine selection. The food. Really fresh food. The the tapas appetizers were yummy but 2 bites literally we each got a bite maybe 2 with each one. One veggie slaw came.in a small ramekin that was half full. We ordered 2 items and ordered a couple more. We shared the stew for dinner and it was lovely. But again not much portion wise for the money. The dessert we ordered a fruit tray and it arrived the most plain fruit plate my child would of.made. we sent it back for the $$ it was just not worth it. The small donuts were AMAZING. The lavender honey was to die for. Overall we really liked the food, service and environment. The four stars is simple. I ate a set menu last night for our girlfriends birthday party. It was family style so we were able to try about 25 different items. The quality was spot on! I'm so excited that Dallas has a restaurant of this caliber. The last time I went to a restaurant that I liked everything was in San Francisco last year! Aside from the food, they have the most progressive wine list in Dallas where 20% of their wine list is natural and biodynamic. Interesting take on Italian food. I assume they were trying to make their menu a Sicilian menu? Anyway they make you pay for bread which I found offensive. The food was OK not great. They need to kick it up a notch. To be honest it was the wait staff that disappointed me the most. The first person who waited on us disappeared and then the second person couldn't even handle three tickets. Also, the person delivering the food had a frown on her face and didn't even ask if we wanted any Parmesan cheese or anything to go with our food, which I thought was extremely rude. read more

I recently moved to Dallas from NYC, and after reading about Sachet I decided to give it a try my first week in the Big D. I've since been to Sachet 10 times in the past 3 months! I'm absolutely blown away by the atmosphere, service, food and wine here. Sachet is NYC quality or better, and the value is outstanding. Beyond! The owners of Gemma have done it again! These people really know what they are doing, from food to ambience and service...a rare breed in Dallas. And this is after about 10 days of opening - give them a month and imagine the possibilities!!! For SURE my new favorite restaurant in the whole city. For starters, the space is chic and beautiful, and the crowd matches. Staff is totally on top of it - we lost count shortly after being seated for our anniversary dinner how many people were there to gets us situated and stop by to wish us a happy anniversary. There was not one dish or wine and cocktail we tried which we didn't love. From the freshly in-house baked bread and olive oil on the table all the way through dessert - we pigged out and thoroughly enjoyed! Love seeing a menu which has tons of choices in each category. HIGHLIGHTS: Cocktails: we had the Flamenco (something?) and the Italian (something?)...can't remember the names, but the whole menu was inventive and fun. The cocktails were super delicious. The wine list is a stand-out: comprehensive, well-rounded and has great prices. They have wines from all over and everything we had - from a Greek sparkling rose, to a Sicilian Nero d'Avola and finally a Franciacorta with dessert, were spectacular. Mezes (so fairly priced, to boot!!): especially loved the beets with lebne, but they were all delish. Great to have some solid veggie options in Dallas! Appetizer: The pita with dukkah was a revelation!! Little pillow-like warm pita breads that you dip in heavenly olive oil and then in a little dish of mixed herbs and spices. My LORD!!! Nothing like it anywhere I've been coast-to-coast recently. We also had the octopus with assorted beans and fennel...cooked to absolute perfection. Nice crisp outside and tender and flavorful inside. I hate it when people ruin octopus so this was reason for a small happy dance. Next time I will go for the falafel, the grilled mackerel and the arancini too - Italian style rice balls with oozing cheese center. Too many to choose from! Main: We were craving a great piece of meat, so we went with the Piemontese bone-in rib-eye. O.M.G. Brace yourselves. It is meant to be shared family style and can totally be ordered for about 4 people to share, but we pulverized it, just the 2 of us!! I don't know where they get this thing, but it was juicy and tender and packed so much flavor with so much less of the fat of what you normally get even from a great butcher. Just other-wordly. I don't know a steak house in Dallas that can compete with this fabulous piece of meat. Next time we are doing the pork shank...can't wait! Dessert: Even though we were going to explode, I can never not try dessert...it's my ultimate test to see if a restaurant has really thought things through, soup to nuts. Guess what? They did it again!! The doughnuts with honey lavender dipping sauce and chocolate dipping sauce were so yummy - not heavy, not oily. Just right. We were also generously sent the almond cake with huckleberries and a lemon lavender ice cream...I am not sure I would have been inclined to order it myself, but WOW - I would have really missed out on a dessert with several layers of wonderful flavors waiting to be discovered. Made reservations thru open table on a Sunday for our anniversary. When arrived the restaurant was mostly empty. Despite that the hostess wanted to give us literally the worst table I guess because she knew it was our anniversary! When requested another one she said we had to wait 10 minutes at the bar and have a drink while 75% of the tables were empty!! Decided to leave and on our way out she had the audacity to again say she would give us another table in 10 minutes while we were walking by empty tables one after another. We had the greatest server in the world... Akilla. His recommendations were wonderful and he just had a happy, wonderful energy that made the ambiance even better in an already trendy restaurant. The meze were delicious, but the best part of the entire meal was the RAGU dish! Exceptional execution on just about every dish our table ordered. Most plates are for sharing - the mezze were a fun and interesting way to sample a variety of flavors. The star entree of the table was the duck, perfectly crisp and tender, and the accompanying sausage drove it home. Portion sizes and quality definitely delivered an overall great value, especially for how innovative and unique the menu is. The food was hands down amazing ! But... the service was hands down the worse. Over the 90 minutes I was there we had 5 different servers come up to our table with only one actually consistently checking in and seeing if everything was okay AFTER I complained. My date asked for a bottle of wine and since I didn't bring my wallet in they would not serve us the bottle and instead served him a glass but never took my drink order; which was a simple Coke. There was no toilet paper and all in all we didn't even really have a waiter. It was extremely frustrating and I don't think I'll make a reservation here again. read more

Sunday night at this Highland Park hot spot was fantastic. We sat at the bar and had the benefit of great air and view into the restaurant floor. Service was kind and expedient as Meze courses came les than five minutes after ordering. The yellow beets are highly recommended, beet tahini makes the difference. Falafels are also good. I've been looking forward to trying Sachet for years. This is one of those I signed up for a Yelp account just to leave this review reviews. I have had terrible service and experiences at restaurants before and have never felt the need to leave a negative review. I'm writing this because I believe Sachet is better than what we got tonight. And it was basically the most rude, unprofessional waitress I have ever come across. And that's saying something. So bad, that we opted to order only an appetizer and leave so as not to have to sit through a meal we hoped to enjoy and have to endure someone taking out their bad day on us. Wow. Seriously. Whenever I read reviews like this I always think that the customers must be wanting some kind of special treatment. I can tell you, that is not the case at all. When I think of the best restaurants in Dallas, what makes them the best is not just the food, but the service. Homewood, for example, always delivers. How in the world can Sachet seem to have such high standards and expectations and have someone who hey, maybe was having a bad day, but on a Saturday night, prime hours, and someone coming in really looking forward to a dinner at this place and all hopes and dreams were utterly crushed because of extremely, extremely poor and unacceptable service. I have been to this restaurant 5 times and the first time I went I absolutely loved it (and so did my entire party). Love the cocktails, our go to appetizers are the pita bread, the fatteh, and the spare ribs. We usually split 2-3 pastas as a group. The last 2 times have been a bit of a disappointment though. First, the spare ribs have been way overcooked both timed - dry and crispy instead of tender and they have definitely dramatically reduced the pasta portion sizes to the point that if a friend and I share a few, we get maybe 2 or 3 bites of each. It was refreshing that a nicer restaurant had reasonable portions (like the Beverly, Il Bracco) , but that has definitely changed - and it now comes as a tapas amount of pasta with a ton of sauce - the actual pasta is cheap, so it seems like a very unnecessary modification. So eh .... I have mixed feeling now about a places I used to be obsessed with. read more

I was absolutely stunned with my experience at Sachet. I came around 5.30pm on a Friday and partook in their pre-theatre four course prix fixe menu. - Service: Really great and attentive staff. I sat at the bar which always helps but even then everyone did a great job of making sure I was checked on, clearing plates etc. - Ambiance: Beautiful restaurant. The space has a very open and modern feel with big windows, high dealing and modern, tasteful decor. I especially like the bar area and the wine vault. - Food: For the tasting menu I started with the French lentils as my mezze, green favs bean falafel as my appetizer, rainbow trout as my main, and the strained green yogurt as my dessert. Over the amount of food was perfect (and on the lighter side honestly with the portions), including their house focaccia. Everything was unbelievably delicious - the lentils are great with the tomato sauce it comes with. The falafel was perfectly cooked and the mint yogurt was a great accompaniment (wish I had more). The trout is one of the best fish dishes I've ever had - I'm not even a huge fan of trout but it was cooked perfectly. The yogurt was like a deconstructed cheesecake but much better and lighter and a fantastic dessert for a non-dessert type. - Drinks: Highly recommend their vermouth and sherry program as both are quite unique in the Dallas food scene. And of course their wine selection is great and even showcases non-traditional varietals and regions. Definitely coming back - one of my faroite classier Dallas restaurants! read more
