This is a great destination for brunch. I got an omelet but then noticed the bagel stack at the table next to us. Guess I will have to go again. The environment and ambiance is excellent. Simply said, not good value. Bagels are sized right, but too soft and tasteless. " Latkes" are no more than fritters. That's all I had but I had enough. There are so many better deli's or bistros, even in Dallas, for much better value; people who frequent this restaurant don't apparently know. Now, to be fair, I haven't eaten dinner here, but at the same time, I'm not sure I want to. One more thing: I have read other reviews in other periodicals and it looks frequently like the same impression as mine. I don't understand why Sadelles's can't up their game. Arrived at 12:30 for a 12:30 reservation where we checked in at the hostess stand and waited next to it for our table. It was crowded but seemed like people were coming and going so we just stood directly next to the hostess stand out of the way. My husband got a drink from the bar next to the host stand around 12:45 and I noticed two couples that had come in after us and had 12:45 reservations were sat before us. So I asked a different hostess what was the status on our table because people with later reservations and that arrived after us were being seated before us. She said that our table would be ready soon and just to hang tight. Waited till 12:55 and went back to the original hostess asking again why people who arrived after us and had later reservation times are repeatedly getting sat before us. She said it's based on your check in time so if you checked in after them and their reservation was after ours we still would be sat after them. So I then reexplained we had been there for almost 30 minutes past our reservation time and had checked in at the reservation time and gave her our name again. To which she replies "well it looks like you just checked in 9 minutes ago so you'll have to wait your turn in the queue." She turns around and said something to the manager standing there and I heard her saying to the other hostesses how if we had "just checked in 9 minutes ago we weren't here for our 12:30 reservation time." At this time I walked away and was very annoyed with how this was being handled. Clearly at 12:45 when we asked the first time the other hostess either realized we weren't actually checked in from when we arrived at 12:30, or she messed up something and rechecked us in making our time look later than it was when we arrived. At 1pm the original hostess comes to us and hands us two glasses of champagne and let's us know our table would be ready now, to which I apologized for coming off as rude as it was just not making sense how we were being skipped over. To which she replied, "that's ok perception is everything" and walked away. Was she insinuating there was an incorrect way of perceiving the current reality of how we got skipped over and there was an error at the hostess stand? Because there was no misperception on our end. This all seems very trivial but to say that to a customer after making an error and denying the mistake is very unprofessional and rude. We appreciated the champagne that was given to make amends but then to turn around and say that just seemed like a slap in the face. Ruined our whole meal and left a bad taste in our mouths about a place we had otherwise looked forward to coming and trying out. Won't be coming back to this restaurant. read more

My husband and I wanted to try this out Sunday morning for brunch. When we got to the hostess stand we told them we didn't have reservations but to put our name on the list. It was about 10:45 and they said it would be an hour wait. We received the initial text saying we were on the list. It would be a long wait but it looked cute so we decided to walk around and just wait. Well at around 12:30, almost 2 hours after, we decided to eat elsewhere. 100% get your food orders wrong! even simple bagel orders. There is no more line at the cafe side because togo orders are always wrong. It can take forever, 20 minutes even without a line!!! want your bagel scooped? nope, even if they tell you yes. The order takers are nice, but the "kitchen" (toasting bagels & adding cream cheese) gets it wrong it up every time. Kitchen has a bad attitude that makes the check out workers beg to make the order. Clearly they dont care. Its the same woman in the Kitchen still today. They have zero healthy options like whole wheat or multi grain (like every other place in Dallas and the world). Funny thing is the same Sadelles company has good service in NYC. Go to Shug's Bagels on Mockingbird if you want really good stuff with great service. will be trying Starship Bagels on Elm downtown Please shut this place down and open a real restaurant or bagel cafe. read more

I've now been to this pretty place in Highland Park twice. Their other locations are in New York, Boca Raton, Miami, Las Vegas and Paris. My first visit was for Sunday brunch where my perfect salad (The Freddy: shrimp, heart of palm, avocado, radish, crispy shallots, dijon vinaigrette) and delicious aperol spritz was abruptly disrupted with a mass of police loudly announcing for everyone to quickly and calmly exit the premises. No reasons why were given, but I can say I've never been so scared for my life. I didn't even get to taste my BF house salmon that also looked delish. Not sure I'd be back for their crowded hectic brunch. That said, I recently went back for a less crowded dinner. Entering in the place I thought was so pretty, they now have this weird netting to cover a makeshift storage area where previously patrons could sit and have a coffee and bagel. Not so pretty anymore.. the positive, I got to enjoy my meal this time. For dinner, I ordered their roasted salmon with tomato vinaigrette, fresh horseradish and a side steamed asparagus. While ordering dinner, I asked if I could get something sparking like a champagne or a rosé. Whatever this waiter brought me was spectacular.. only problem was he never mentioned it cost $40 a glass. ‍ would have been nice to know when the waiter suggested this beverage and not after leaving the bill on the table. You're paying for the location, certainly not the food. I gave it two stars because it's "pretty". The burger is $28. It's two, small patties, bread and cheese...with a side of fries. There wasn't even tomato or lettuce on the burger. You also can't sub the fries for another side. I don't think this place will last, and honestly it shouldn't. Our grilled cheese were cold. Asked them to remake it and this is what we got. The cheese isn't even close to being melted. Our friends eggs were cold and their burger. Great atmosphere and beautiful space - definitely the highland park crowd. My fish selection (house salmon) was perfect for what I was craving and arrived on a cute tiered service. My husband ordered pancakes that were the saltiest batter I've ever tasted on a pancake. They quickly replaced the item with French toast instead that was much more palatable. Cocktails at the bar (Bellini and a mimosa) were excellent. Service was so-so. Wait staff quickly took a drink order upon seating, but aside from the initial delivery and a check-in once food arrived our server was otherwise absent. I finished a mimosa, cup of coffee and my glass of water with no offer for refills and left thirsty. Entrees did not arrive together, so while my eggs arrived with my husband's pancake, they were cold by the time I tried to enjoy them when my lox arrived. Came here for Mother's Day and the service was painfully bad. Had to ask for water 3 different times and took about 30 min for anything we asked for to be brought to the table (napkins etc.). Had to chase our waiter down multiple times for the same thing. Table was never cleared and had to put our dishes on our booth to make room. Had a bad experience coming here. Even though I had a reservation it took them 40 minutes to give us our table, even though the restaurant was half empty. The hostess was not very friendly and looked very annoyed when I asked how much longer we would have to wait. We finally got seated and we're ready to order, we wanted the house salmon since that's what the place is known for. Me and my husband have a gluten free diet, and as it turns out, they didn't have gluten free bagels (even though they're on the menu). We arrived at Sadelles and sat for probably 10 minutes before anyone thought about offering us anything least of all a glass of water. We're about to order and the waiter informs us that there is no salmon available. Sorry what?! The one thing Sadelles is supposed to do decently is not available because they over sold what they had in stock on Sunday and a new shipment didn't arrive in time. The reservation was made weeks in advance and there was ample time to reach out and let patrons know that this was an issue today. We eventually settled on some other smoked fishes that were in stock. They were relatively average. We ordered two additional bagels and waited 10 minutes for them to arrive. When the check eventually came we noticed they had charged us $35 for a mimosa instead of $15. We pointed out the issue, the waiter went to make the change, and when he brought it back didn't even apologize. We called over The manager, Julia who was pretty defensive at first. When we told her that it was a member of our party's birthday she softened up. She offered to comp the bill which was NOT our reason for the complaints. Time will tell if Sadelle's is ready for Dallas or if they should just pack up and take their poor service, mediocre food, and New York styled attitudes back with them to the big Apple. Well we all know what this wonderful location used to be, a lovely, chic, comforting, locally owned upscale market..... and this place fell flat. Moving here from NYC a few years ago I used to crave a sense of the city and the market gave me that feel- a sense of community, a place you would look forward to going on the week/weekend to see your friends and family and to meet new people. That being said- walking into Sadelle's in Dallas first impressions were "is it done?" looks like they just added booths to the existing buildout, new paint and lots of Sadelle's wallpaper over things... It has no sense of style or intimate feeling like the location in Soho (which is lovely) and to pay 22 dollars for a glass of wine you want an ambiance and it just feels cheap. Now onto the food.. wish I could say that was better, the grilled cheese sandwich was cold and saw three being sent back while sitting there. Many menu items were unavail. My salad was good, but not $24 dollars good!!!! agree with the other yelp user about hudson house, much better salad and price. Staff was friendly- they get 5 stars Since they kicked out such a local establishment, I wanted to like this place and have a place in HPV to spend weekends with friends and family, but this isn't it. read more

Perhaps cuz they are new at the HP location, but they are bad both in terms food quality and service. Both are equally bad. Long waits with plenty of open seating in sight, long waits for service and fumbling of online scheduling. Hosts are strangely not always friendly. We have tried multiple menu items and the best items are appetizers and deserts (pigs in blanket and French toast - both very good). Entrees have been bad. Oddly bad omelette (dry and thin) and ridiculous grilled cheese of all things. The vibe of the place is like a slightly glorified Swenson's for those of u who remember this Applebee's like chain from the 80s or perhaps like the disappointing Carlos' bakery (now HP defunct) - kind of Northeastern tacky. Once the new wears off they may be in trouble - who knows - may be they will pick it up and shake off early jitters. The jury is out on this one. read more

Not one single table was occupied, yet no room for walk-ins. As a former restaurant manager, I understand that you want to have your restaurant full, but you need to leave room for those who want to have a spontaneous meal. Ir for those last minute cancellations. Not everyone plans in advance. Disappointing since we are teachers and rarely get to enjoy lunch out. Doubt I will return after being turned away like that. If there was an option to give zero stars, I would have done exactly that. May23rd no Sadelle's salmon, or house smoked salmon......this is what they are famous for. Manager Mcgill Dumay, tried to justify, but no apology. I settled for the Beef Salami Omelette. ( Clearly they were out of the beef too, and substituted ham, without any word to our table). Service was shocking, food was less than mediocre, there was an overcharge, and when the manager was summoned a second time, a different manager appeared. After some discussion, Julia eventually apologized and offered to comp the bill, which originally included an overcharge of $20 for a drink. From what I have heard from our host, the charge for the meal was actually not comped, and was put through. That is just the icing on the cake.....they should feel very ashamed, and McGill and Julia need some serious retraining! I would be very surprised if this establishment makes it to 2023, unless the owners fire everyone and start all over! They certainly won't be seeing me, and I suspect not our host either, who was clearly embarrassed in front of his guests. read more

To say the food was bad would be a compliment. We came in hoping for a decent experience, one that could at least justify this replacing RB, but it did not happen. We ordered three different drinks - espresso martini, negroni, and a spiced matcha margarita. The espresso martini did not taste proportionate and was way too heavy on the liquor and had no flavor. The spiced matcha margarita tasted like cilantro. The negroni has a giant ice cube in it that likes to slide up to your face when you're drinking it. We had the salmon appetizer and oysters. I've had better smoked salmon from Trader Joe's. The oysters are dressed with rosemary and a singular pickle. They do not come with cocktail sauce or any other sauce. They taste like you're shooting pickle juice. For entrees we had the chicken schnitzel, quesadillas, triple decker, fries, and coconut shrimp. I wish I could say at least one impressed us. The chicken schnitzel was overcooked, small, and lacked any flavor or seasoning. The quesadilla was messy and tasted bland. I suppose you could argue it was the best thing we had. The triple decker makes you question yourself on how you were suckered into spending over $30 on a sandwich you could make at home with better quality meats from a grocery store. The fries were thin fries, dry unseasoned fries. I didn't know a fry could be so depressing. The coconut shrimp reminded me of Popeyes. Finally for dessert we had the sticky buns and babka, or rather dry bread. Arguably, the dinner was impressive. I have never experienced an upscale dinner (we averaged just over $60/head) where everything was truly just bad. There was not a single dish that tasted even above average, much less even average. I can confidently say I don't think I will ever be back and it makes me question the quality and experience of the other concepts under this hospitality group. read more

Had high to medium hopes for this place. Didn't believe the bad reviews but unfortunately they are on par with my experience. Food was not great or even good. Charged 8$ for tap water that they claimed was special water. Charged 8$ for 2 slices of avocado (not joking). I know there is always an up charge for sides but 4 dollars a slice is a little exorbitant for my 18 dollar sandwich. Going forward they should be more transparent with their up charges. Menu prices has changed as well and when asked the difference they simply say "don't look at the menu prices, they aren't right" and that's that. I was hoping with these prices it would be at least tasteful, it was not. read more

We both ordered the salmon bagels and iced tea, salmon was very thinly sliced so seemed like more than it was, high quality but very little, had a lot of tomatoes and cucumbers, but the bagel was the SMALLEST BAGEL I've ever eaten... for 25 dollars you can do so much better (Shugs bagels). The iced tea was 6 dollars.... Overall, overhyped, slowish service, small food portions for high prices. Unless things change I think once the hype dies they won't be there too much longer. read more

[This review is for cafe only] Where do I start? Let's start with missing ingredients. By 12:30 on Saturday they ran out of whitefish salad. And sable is not on cafe menu. Those were exactly 2 things we came for - bad start but it gets worse so stick with me. Service appeared both unpretentious (good) and uninvolved (bad). A sales person at the counter was more bothered by my questions rather than trying to answer them even though nobody was in line behind me. No one ever appeared to clean outdoor tables between parties so I had to ask. Selection on the cafe menu is spartan even by Dallas standards (can't remotely match NY bagel shops so for anyone familiar with NY deli that would be a big disappointment. Just 4-5 types of bagels, 2 types of schmear - that's it. Bagel was small and not particularly distinguishable - nothing like those served in good NY deli. They never asked to toast so I had make sure. Amount of salmon was at best 50% of how much you get in NY either. Overall very disappointing bagel not worth a half its price tag of $19. It didn't appear toasted when served - if toasted then just super lightly. You can find better - much better - Waldorf salad in NY in a street deli. Too much romaine and too little of the rest placed it at the all time bottom - maybe in the restaurant it's better I ll give them the benefit of the doubt. For Dallas espresso was excellent. We didn't try any sweets because just getting a bagel with salmon and a Waldorf salad with coffee and tea placed us in 60+ with modest tip. read more

Went to this cute restaurant today after seeing it all over Instagram. Was extremely underwhelming. The staff told us they stop serving food from 3-5pm and only had drinks and charcuterie to serve. We got 3 glasses of wine and one cheese board for a whopping total of $147!! As a continuous HPV customer, I understand high pricing but the quality has to be there. And this just wasn't it. The waiters kept trying to push us to purchase more drinks when we kept saying no. 2 stars for the nice host and for letting us bring our pup. read more
