I just had a lovely experience at Safeway! I grabbed a few things for dinner tonight, along with some things my grandma requested that were on sale. Great sales today on soda, water, and ice cream! The cashier at self pay was very helpful with my transaction- I needed some help with the online coupons. When I came out with all my water and sodas, a man working putting away carts helped me to load up the waters and sodas and then took my cart - absolutely not necessary, yet so so sweet and kind especially in this heat. great service and experience today! They have a floral department and I get that there is nobody there so u have to go to customer service to get someone. I wanted an arrangement wrapped so the flowers are protected. You like a professional florist would do and not have you just walk out with flowers in the vase. First person that answered the call of my need of assistance said he never has done that and went to get the manager. She comes over and clearly doesn't know herself so she gets a box that covers the base of the vase and she puts plastic in the hole, the flowers still unprotected and said is that fine. Clearly I was not going to get what I wanted so I just said yes. Don't have a floral department. I will never buy flowers there again. read more

This location seems to go out of their way to avoid honoring advertised prices. Stopped by just after 6pm Monday to pick up groceries including chicken breast (discount only valid at the meat counter) and steak (bone in in value pack). They had bone in steak in individual packs, boneless steaks in value packs, but of course none of the product currently be advertised. I joined several other shoppers at the meat counter to get chicken, but even after ringing bell, no one came out to help. I went to check out my remaining items, and asked the cashier about the meat counter and she said they close at 10. The customer service desk called back to the meat counter, confirmed they were back there, gave me the guy's name and sent me back to get the chicken. Got back to the meat counter and Alex ignored me for several minutes then finally acknowledged me, but then said he couldn't help because he had to "close the meat counter a little early on Monday" and he had already started shutting down. Went back up to let the service desk know, but she had vanished, most likely because this little routine plays out all day. read more

Even though I went in for a couple of specific items & didn't get a chance to explore the whole store, I have to say I was very pleased with what I saw. The store was clean & the shelves well-stocked. Everyone I saw was wearing masks. Not all appropriately, but hey, they had them on. There was a guy outside sanitizing the cart for use. This review is regarding the bakery. Safeway makes delicious cakes which is why I ordered a birthday cake here, however, I was pretty disappointed with the sloppy icing. I could have made this cake at home and the decorating quality would have been the same. Also, when we cut into the cake, I realized they had filled it with strawberry jelly when I specifically said I did NOT want that. I watched them write it down on the order sheet and they still got it wrong. Not too happy with this experience. I still love their cakes but I won't use them for a custom cake again. read more

This place has gone downhill the last year. We used to buy all of our cakes here for every celebration. As of tonight I will never return. My husband's birthday cake was a completely land, slide into the corner of the box, and the guy that went to hand it to me could care less didn't try to get me another cake or anything just sat there and watched me literally break down into tears. His birthday is today. I tried to go talk to the manager she was so busy chumming up the guy who was buying lottery tickets and talking to another colleague. She didn't even bother to ask me why I was standing there waiting for her. I left there tonight with my blood boiling. This place has gone to absolute crap. THE BEST COOKIES EVER! The Mexican Wedding cookies are a perfect blend of nuts and flour and powdered sugar. They are the best I've ever tasted. Not too much shortening. Worth every single calorie!! All the gourmet cookie varieties are absolutely amazing and better than my homemade. Which is saying alot!! I recently ordered a huge quantity and varieties for a funeral. I went to the pharmacy yesterday to pick up my prescription. Same Prescription I've picked up 3 times before. It is injectable so it requires syringes. It is one shot every 7 days for 8 weeks. Ashley gave me no syringes. When I informed her I needed them she was argumentative. She gave me 2. I said it's 8 doses and requires 8 syringes. It says right on my prescription. She argued with me saying it is single dosage and you throw the remaining away in each bottle. It's only 2, 1 ml bottles and each bottle is 4 doses. I explained this. And she kept arguing. Repeating its single dosage. Which when I got home nowhere on the box or prescription does it say single dose or throw the remainder away. The medication is not cheap. She ended up giving me 4 syringes and charged me $2 for them and they have never charged me before. I'm pretty sure it was out of spite. So now I guess I have to reuse a needle? That's unacceptable!! I shouldn't have to argue to get her to do her job! And she shouldn't be making stuff up and giving people false information. Ashley R. I believe her name was. This Safeway is on our way home after golfing nearby, so we've used it for pickup about six times. Produce is perfect, items are almost always in stock (unless someone is hoarding my fav soda), and staff very prompt/courteous. Highly recommend trying pickup service!! I am a regular (more than once a week) customer at the Bell/Cotton Safeway. I shop Safeway because of their political affiliation. I do not shoo at stores who share different views and who contribute to political parties I do not support. I ran in tonight at 8PM (they close at 10PM), grabbed the things I needed and went to check out. NOT ONE CHECK STAND WAS OPEN except self check out. I never use self check out! If a store wants to give me a discount to do their job that's kind thing. The checkers work hard. I will not deny them. Safeway at Bell & Cotton in Surprise, you just lost me as a customer. So we bought some fish for a dinner party EVERYONE GOT SUPER SICK! We noticed that the fish was a little strong smelling but rinsed it. Beware of Pharmacy! I have been trying to get my prescription for a week but the pharmacist and pharmacy have so much "RedTape", that it is almost impossible to get your medicines! I have been without my medication for almost two weeks! I finally got the "final" approval but they do not have enough of my medication and they won't release it until they have the entire quantity. It's Friday but they will not have enough of my medication until Monday or Tuesday! So I have to wait on my prescription for another 5 days?! I am supposed to take it EVERY SINGLE DAY! They won't give me enough to get me through until the rest comes in!? This is dangerous and wrong! I will NEVER go to SAFEWAY again for anything!! read more

Went to Starbucks to avoid the long drive theu wait at the stand alone outside. Walked in to see 4 employees working and two just standing there. One on his phone. After a few minutes of being ignored Kam the manager for Starbucks finally greated me and took the order. We ordered two drinks a cheese danish and a brownie because the toaster was broken. We got to our car to see the food that was given to us in the same sleeve (cross contamination btw) expired in DECEMBER 2020 and March 15. I went back in and asked for a refund! Always clean and well organized. The service is hit or miss. I really like some of the cashiers. The ones who actually say hello and help you. Then there are the rest of the cashiers who spend the entire transaction without acknowledging you and talking to the other employees like you aren't even there. I was just at Safeway on Bell and Cotton with my daughter and her friend, both almost 17 and look 18. The cashier asked me if they were my grandkids. Wtf? I'm not even 50 yet! Then he ended up overcharging me on something. I went to customer service and the woman standing there said in a very snotty tone that if I needed an adjustment I'd have to go to a cashier because she closed at 8. (It was 8:14) I said wow, more great customer service and went back to the punk who said I looked old. Found out from the girls after we left that customer service bitch was giving me stink eye the whole time. That was the last straw. That place has gone downhill the last couple of years because of shitty management who really don't care, but as far as I'm concerned that is an empty parking lot now! This store is often a disappointment. Empty shelves are a regular occurrence--today, Coca-Cola products were virtually depleted, but no sign was posted to explain the problem, nor was there anyone available to ask. At checkout, there was a backup everywhere except at self-check, and the one employee there kept urging customers to use self-check--something I will do only if the store starts paying me $15/hour for my time. When I finally was being rung up, I asked the bagger for paper bags. Almost in unison, the bagger and the checker both shouted, "WE'RE ALL OUT OF PAPER!"--this is another frequent problem at this store. When I finished paying for my order, I noticed that the bagger had placed all 12 of the items from my order directly into the cart with NO BAGS whatsoever. I thought we would try the grocery delivery service offered by Safeway and I was skeptical but I am very happy with the service we received! Everything was delivered fresh and in a refrigerated truck! The man who delivered was very polite and arrived on time. Amazing customer service. I got my son's prescription filled here, but rarely shop here, I will be shopping here from now on. Jennifer, the pharmacist was absolutely phenomenal. So friendly and helpful even through she was the only one there, and was swamped. The young butcher , I wish I had gotten his name, went out of his way to get me what I wanted. When I went to check out there were 3 lanes open. One with a person who's cart was overflowing and 2 express lanes with 3 ppl a piece. They immediately opened up 2 more lines. Incredible service. Safeway is clean and nice. Produce section is a decent size with regular/organic selections. I like the meat Department here the most. The butchers are always helpful and polite. I have been looking for a particular cut of beef and even though they did not have it today, they were able to get it for me in 2 days. Out of all the supermarkets in its radius, this safeway has the best donuts. I am glad I live right around the corner from such a fine establishment. read more

I went inside the Safeway gas station to buy a pack of cigarettes but I was turned away because the lady inside did not believe that my UNITED STATES PASSPORT was a GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID! I don't know her name but today is Tuesday 04-24-18 this happened at like 4 PM. She told me I HAD to have a drivers license. I'm sorry, since when did my ability to operate a motor vehicle determine if I'm eligible to purchase tobacco??? Train your employees!!! I have never ever been told my passport isn't acceptable as identification because it is. There should not be a problem. She told me it was Safeway policy yet when I went inside I didn't have any problems and I didn't expect to since I've purchased cigarettes plenty of times from Safeway until today. I won't be back since apparently your staff doesn't know what a passport is. read more
