If I could put a negative star I would have. We recently purchased a 2013 Nissan Rogue. After 3 weeks we noticed some spots along the top of the roof. They were not visible at the time of purchase. We were told by this dealer that it was some type of environmental issue and was not covered under any warranty. We had the car checked by a auto body shop and found out there was a underlying condition with the paint that was not visible at the time of purchase. When we did make the purchase we did not do any type of price haggling and paid the full listing price. I was told they would check on a price to have it painted and never received any call back. Lesson learned and we will eat the cost to have it repainted. I would not recommend this dealership to others. No type of customer service or concern about the issue on a car that they sold. read more

I may be in the market for a new car and have narrowed my choices between a couple of Mazda models as well as a couple of Honda models. This morning I was up bright and early and arrived at the dealership at roughly 9;30am. I didn't check but I imagined the dealership opened at 10:00am and that the sales staff was in a meeting or something. I enjoyed my half hour looking at the cars and getting a better idea of options, etc. I looked at my phone and it was now 10:15 and not a soul in sight. It wasn't that I was trying to hide and not be seen. I was in the areas of where they keep their stock on Mazda 6's, 3's and CX-5's. I continued to look at my phone and it was now 10:30 and still nobody walked out to even offer to assist me. Shortly after this I walked back towards the showroom where I had parked my car within a cigarette's throw to the side doors of the showroom and proceeded to get in my car and drove down to the area where I was looking at cars and backed my car into an open space to compare length, look, etc. of mine and the new Mazda model. This took another 10-15 minutes so now it is 10:45am so I slowly rode out from the row of new Mazda's and proceeded to drive slowly by the front/side of the showroom and still saw nobody outside. I may be old school but if I have to come looking for a salesman, I'm looking for a different dealership to sell me a car. read more

My wife and I purchased a Miata MX-5 earlier this year. While they did have the lowest price, we both felt like we were dealing with 'used car salesmen'. When we first arrived and let the receptionist know that we wanted to test drive a MX-5, we waited for 30 minutes to be helped. Beware, they may have the lowest price, but you may want to take a shower when you get home! read more

We were looking at the 2016 MX5 and Carlos was nice enough to walk us through all the features the Miata had to offer. He's also a Miata owner so when he talks about the car, you could really feel his enthusiasm for the car! You know he's not BS'ing you. He's also very friendly! If i ever needed a car again, i would look Carlos up! If i had to rate a salesman, i would rate this guy a 10/10. Jeff took care of us very well when we were talking numbers and warranty! I loved that he didn't seem/feel pushy. He's a great guy and it actually feels like he's looking out for you. I'm not sure why other people post negative reviews about this place. I highly recommend Brown's Chantilly Mazda based on my experience buying a Mazda certified pre-owned car there. I compared them with the 3 other Mazda dealers in Northern Virginia to purchase a certified car. This dealer was superior in terms of selection, car-shopping experience, and competitive pricing. In terms of selection, they had the largest inventory with cars that met our exact criteria compared with others. During the car-shopping experience, I test-drove 5 cars there with the salesman over several weeks, which indicated an elevated desire to get my business. Pricing and selection vary depending on exact model and time of year. But for this purchase, I believe their pricing was the most competitive because I compared prices I negotiated with 2 of the other 3 dealers in the area. read more

I did quite a bit of research before landing at Brown's. I was looking at crossovers and, after doing my homework, I decided on a CX5. After some searching I found a 2016 GT with extremely low miles on it. I contacted the dealership and was promptly contacted by my salesman Brian Donohue. He was friendly and helpful without the stereotypical pushiness. I arranged to make an appointment to look at the car, and after a bit of a false start, I got up there. Brian was as easy going and friendly in person as he was on the phone and had already brought the vehicle up front. we took a test drive and he was very knowledgeable about the vehicle (he also drove one) and, once we returned to the dealership I decided I would take it. Usually, in my experience, this is where things usually go south with the classic back and forth haggling and "let me talk to my manager". To my pleasant surprise, there was none of that. The vehicle was considerably below BB and I was able to negotiate a little more of a discount but, since it was a dealer loaner, there was not much more they could do on pricing, which was fine. They were going to offer me less on my trade than I wanted but I had a cash offer in hand and they matched it without any hassle. I was then passed off to the finance person to complete the sale. Again, a pleasant surprise. the person I worked with was Laurie ( I forgot her last name) but, once again, incredibly personable and not a hard sell. In my experience it is usually here that they try shenanigans but not with Laurie.. Very straight forward, charming and helpful. I was out the door with my new vehicle in 4 hours of walking in the door. And they fed me pizza!! the only negative was, once I got the car home, the next day I noticed three dents in the hood!! Wow! Okay. It had 6000 miles on it and I certainly did not expect to see that. I promptly called them and spoke to one of the managers, Peter, and was told the dent guy was coming on Tuesday and, if I can bring the car back up (an hour and a half drive) they would fix them for me. Just helped my daughter buy a 2014 Mazda3 as her first car post-college, and the process couldn't have been easier. We had identified the car through the online inventory system before coming in, and we worked with salesman Jim Maddux, who was great to deal with. The dealership itself is one of the nicest I've been in. Very modern and clean. We used TrueCar to value the vehicle, and I asked for slightly lower than a great price on TrueCar. It only took one back and forth with the sales manager, Matt May, and they met my price. Matt and Jim were super easy to work with. This was too easy for my daughter's first car buying experience :) I hope she never has to experience the challenges I had when I was in my 20s buying a car. If she buys another Mazda, I know she'll be buying it from Brown's. Update 2/21/15 -- Just bought another car from Brown's, a 2016 Mazda CX-5 to replace our aging Prius. Brown's Chantilly Mazda When my wife retired, we decided that we only needed one car. We had a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT and a 2005 Subaru STi. The Legacy had a transmission failure and was due for major service. We sold it. My wife could not drive the STi because of the manual shift. After researching cars in the $20,000 range, we decided to look first at the Mazda 6. In the past, we had two Mazda RX-4 rotaries and a twin turbo RX7. We were pleased with all those cars. I had been using Brown's Subaru dealership to service our Subarus and so decided to go to Brown's Chantilly Mazda. Since we had not purchased a car in 10 years, we did nto know what to expect. Boy, were we surprised! * Everyone was friendly. * No one tried to force us into a car. * They were straight forward and gave us some options is writing. We ended up making a deal on a Mazda 6 Touring, trading in our STi. I give particular praise to our salesman, Jamar Cuthbertson, to the sales manager, Matt May, and Peter Friedman of the used car department (whose names I don't have). DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR MAZDA HERE!!!!!! Update: 1.5 months from purchase of CX-9. Car has been in the service department for more time than we have owned the it. Took it in OVER a week ago for the check engine light.....told it would be done yesterday. No call from the service dept, and had to call today only to find our it won't be done until some time next week. I am making monthly payments on a car that I don't even have in my possession. I have been given a rental that doesn't accommodate my family. 2 weeks to fix my new car.....and the GM wants ME to contact him. How about you contact me? Update: 1 month after purchasing a CX-9 from Brown's we have taken it to the service department twice for the BSM sensors and now it is back in the shop because the check engine light is on and the engine was sputtering. I am hoping that since we have been having problems starting less than 24hours after purchasing the vehicle that we have the option to trade it back in to them and purchase a new vehicle. This is absurd!!! Bought a car less than 2 weeks ago from this dealership. Had to take it to the service department for faulty BSM sensors less than 24 hours after buying it and now less than 2 weeks later the sensors are malfunctioning again. Service department is rude and of course cannot get the car in until next week and no promise of a loaner car. Service from this dealership is horrible once you sign the papers buying your car. I wish I could return this one to the lot and start over somewhere else. read more

The mechanics here do a fantastic job destroying things and wasting your time. Take your car somewhere else. How hard is it to put things back correctly. Like if you take a screw out put it back together with the same screw. No they take things apart and use whatever nuts and bolts they have laying around and slap it together. Below are the 20 brand new wheel studs installed by mazda for $700 by their incompetent mechanics whom should not be allowed to touch power tools. So by looking into it, you mean that you will do absolutely nothing except comment below that you're sorry to hear that and call me to resolve it.... You guys couldn't even replace my rear view mirror, seriously...you couldn't take it off of the windshield....wow. You guys replaced the seal on my window and the door vibrates and after bringing the car in 3 times to be fixed, gave up on that one. Have to drive with my window cracked to not have my door rattle. read more

When we came back later that evening to purchase the vehicle, there was none of that awkward haggling that usually goes on - their price was better than what was publicized on True Car, so we knew we were getting a good deal. Finally, as we were wrapping up the vehicle and they were actually closing for the evening, Edvin discovered there were no porters around to clean the vehicle -- so he did it himself. I got the spacers installed in my Mazda Tribute 2005 since there was a dangerous recall on it. I have been waiting for two hours. Hopefully they will be done as stated in 10 minutes when I asked if my car is ready. The service lobby is small. They have TV and comfortable seats. Only problem is you can`t hear the tv sound because it is close by the showroom which is very loud and echoy. They need to build a wallto cut down on the noise. I spoke to the service manager and took my car back in. Upon second review of my car, they determined my back tires were more worn than my front so they wouldn't recommend rotating but rather preparing to buy new ones once they were worn enough. That's a perfectly reasonable explanation but someone should have told me that the first time and not charged me. They gave me a refund for the rotation and aLao threw in a free balance. So the issue is resolved but not sure that I trust the service staff. read more

No test drive? What kind of sale term is that? How am i going to buy a car with out test driving?

Uh oh. After being worried about the recent purchase of my used car purchase, now that I see these reviews, I'm really worried. My first experience with Mazda was great with no issue. Purchased a 2011 Mazda 3 as my first car. Snap to now and I just wanted a change. The actually honored the pay off amount for my appraisal which was great and fair as I kept it in great shape and low miles. 2nd day off the lot, my check engine light is lighting up. I call the service department and the girl that answers the phone is very snobby and said they had no openings at that time and suggested a later date around 1:00 when most people are working??? Then after figuring a day out, I arrive and the same girl explains that even though the check engine light is on, it could just not be engine related and then everything would be paid out of pocket due to my warranty. She suggested I go to a dealer of my new car make to ensure they can let me know what's wrong prior to fixing it as they specialize in Mazdas only. I'm sorry but you shouldn't sell cars you can't fix then. I think this is major bs and beginning to think I got a lemon. Now my sunroof doesn't work and it hasn't even been a full month.... Would not reccommend Browns in Chantilly. I would go elsewhere if I started over again. read more

Warning, poor service experience! I called to set up a service appointment on Monday. No one answers the phone, so I leave a message with my call back number. No return call, so Tuesday I call again (big mistake) and get an appointment for 11:15 Wednesday. I arrived and checked in early and was told 15 minutes to check the ball joints (due to a recall). 45 minutes later, I notice the car hasn't moved (2nd mistake, I should have left then). I won't bother you with the whole saga, but the 15 minutes became over 2 hours. Ultimately I went to the counter and told them I needed to leave so please bring me my car, and I left. I don't plan on getting any more service at this dealership, my time is valuable and they don't seem to respect this. As a side note, a young man was also there getting his first oil change. He was also there as long as I was. read more

The most frustrating thing about this place is when you first walk in, see all three people at their desk and no one tells you what to do, or even acknowledges your presence. Shane, one of the guys at the desk, is always super friendly and helpful but the others just stare at their computer and ignore you. Follow-up.. I'm just about out of the Mazda 3Y/36000 warranty and still no fix, guess that was their plan to make me go away?! More than 25000 miles of this potential death trap. Here's the story of (in my opinion) Brown's warranty service incompetance.... After taking my new (Apr 2019 purchased) Mazda 3 Premium to Brown's Chantilly Mazda, per Mazda US Executive team over 6 months ago, it still has the same problem with a dangerous lag upon takeoff from stop, even worse. I've heard all the excuses... they all do that, part of the eco system, fly by wire lag, servo's in the transmission, SW needs updating, etc. They can't figure it out and have stopped trying, making it MY problem. The Brown's Mazda new car sales manager Matt even tried to buy me off with a new Mazda 3 at a ridiculous price to make this go away and I would have considered a reasonable offer. Long story short and after finally receiving a call from the GM Robert (apparently not technical since he thought the delay was probably caused by the fly by wire, a 10ms delay), I was contacted my yet another Mazda Exec. Team member, Chris. Chris was very nice but did his research based on input from Brown's Chantilly Mazda and Mazda regional guy Charles who clearly identified the issue (no solution) upon test driving my car and said it's up to Mazda Japan to do something. After a week or so of Chris' research, he can't do anything, so we're back to square one and nothing is getting fixed. This is warranty and has been for over a year now and Brown's has done basically nothing but try to sell me a new one and say that they all do this lag from stop issue, I disagree!!! They DO NOT All have this problem, nor have any of the Mazda 3's I've test driven or driven as a loaner car while this car has been examined on 6-7 occasions with no results. I am yet to drive a 2019/20 Mazda 3 that exhibits the same dangerous lag, like mine. I realize the Brown's tech's are probably trained for basic repair, programming, etc., especially when there is an error code (which there is none for this lag issue on mine), hence the problem, if there is no error code then there must not be a problem or at least one they can fix!!!! I would suggest higher level Mazda expert or try something and no more excuses, since the other 2019/20 Mazda 3's do not do this, that I've experienced! The service director Allen even suggested I take the car to another dealership since they could not meet my expectations at Brown's. Great job on owning the problem Brown's mgmt., until fixed? Always an excuse and latest is blaming it on Mazda Japan again for not having a solution or this being high enough on their list of safety issues to address anytime soon. So much for Mazda Customer Experience! In summary, I'm suggesting if you need NEW Mazda repair and if the car exhibits an error code, the Brown's Chantilly folks can probably handle it, but I'm still waiting for someone to think outside the box and fix mine. If you have a non-textbook problem, don't make my mistake with your New Mazda 3 and expect it to get serviced/fixed at Brown's! Very disappointing service at Brown's Chantilly Mazda to date, good coffee though. read more

Have visited Brown's 3 times in Chantilly 3x since moving here from KS. My car refuses to start, an ongoing problem since Nov 2012. One visit to Brown's was for my 15,000 mi. check up. Fast, efficient service with polite, pleasant personnel. 2 visits for my balky battery. All battery tests (here & in KS) say battery is fine. Back in KS the diagnosis was a faulty after-market security system for which Mazda helped pay the replacement costs. Guess that theory was wrong as the problem continued. Tuesday's check said the same as others, but Brown's decided a new battery was in order regardless of what the test said. Did not have to use my jumper this morning. We'll see how it goes. I am happy with Mazda - regardless of my problem. It is a great car to drive and service here in San Antonio (where purchased), Overland Park KS and here has all been terrific. I even received letters and calls from US headquarters. That impressed me!! read more
