I've been hearing a lot of buzz about this place and let me say that I'm absolutely impressed. I'll start off with the atmosphere which gives off a comfortable homey relaxed setting, beautiful decor and very clean. Then there's the owners, a lovely married couple who are both absolutely kind and welcoming as well as took the time to explain their menu options to us which is an added bonus. Lastly, THE FOOD, when I tell you that my palate went home happy, I don't mean it as hyperbole, the food was delicious down to the preparation of freshly cut vegetables to the well cooked protein to the insanely good flavors of hummus (9 flavors!) to the unbelievably thrilling Sicilian potato salad. The reviews on here don't do this place justice and Yelp is definitely hiding reviews because this place should have dozens by now, so I'm hoping my review can help drum up more well deserved business for them. We ordered my birthday dinner for takeout because I wasn't sure about how the seating would be inside or out. When we got there, it was alive with energy as people were waiting in line to order, some were sitting inside or outside. It was very much a vibe. We decided to grab dinner here before the Terrace Theater. Not crowded, guy at the counter seemed pretty nice. I ordered a cup of lentil soup and a falafel wrap with salad. I love meditteranean food and was excited to try this place, but, I was completely disappointed. The soup had a very thin, watery consistency and was very salty, reminiscent of canned soup. I don't know if it was canned, it just tasted that way. The salad had a very bitter dressing on it and also wasn't good. The falafel was just ok, the falafel balls themselves didn't seem to be cooked all the way, too soft and not crunchy at all. Once the food was served they never came back one time to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. There was a female working who saw all the food barely touched and she didn't say a word. Not sure what the story was here, but, can't say that I would recommend this place or go back. Omg, I couldn't tell the difference from the lamb & steak, it was seasoned to PERFECTION !! The food was great and the owners were even better. Though the food did take a while to come out, the owners, who are such a cute married couple, were transparent about it and always made sure we were alright during the wait. Saffron is the name of a rare spice, as well as a rare restaurant in DTLB. I ordered the gyro plate, and it was nicely seasoned and freshly made. I had originally planned to get a gyro from another Greek restaurant and I saw this place and stepped in. The lady that helped me was patient and delightful, we need more restaurnnteers like that downtown.
