We arrived when they opened at 5p and sat in one of their communal tables. It was a hot day and the AC wasn't up to the challenge. With the oven, the crowd and weather, it was rather warm inside. However, I guess it replicated an authentic dining experience in Italy. The restaurant became packed shortly afterwards and the conversations and laughter echoed vibrantly. It felt like we were in Italy. Our server, Alfred, was a pro and a delight. He took care of us without breaking a sweat and always with a smile. We tried many pizzas, salads and pastas. Everything was delish. What really caught my eye was the ribeye steak, which we didn't try. It's a monster ribeye at a very reasonable price. It looked amazing. I have no doubt I will be scarfing down one of those in the near future. I highly recommend a visit if you haven't been. Go hungry and know the portions are generous.

Oh WOW this place is good! What a shocker to my taste buds on that Thursday evening! I was expecting something mediocre since my friends asked me to do dinner at an unknown place in Alhambra. I thought I had tried all that Alhambra and the nearby area had to offer but I was wrong on that brisk Wednesday night. The menu is not too extensive. If you come here a couple of times with a few friends, then you'll quickly pick out your favorite dish. I was extremely happy to discover that they serves duck breast in a non-traditional Chinese way. I was getting soooo tired of eating BBQ duck around 626. This dish is perfect when you want some good duck but you don't want to lose your gains from the gym because summer is coming! My other friend got the braised ribs and he was very happy about it. Another got the Gumbo and he thought it was okay. My favorite thing of all to be honest was the mashed potatoes. Even though it was just a side to the beautiful breast I was enjoying. Each bite of the mashed carries with it such smooth, soft texture. It even had such a delightful aroma that you just have to try it yourself to understand it. It was like eating those soft clouds that only appears after the rain. The portions were just right. I walked out feeling classy and not stuffed. In my opinion, this place serves as a little quick and wonderful date spot around Alhambra. The atmosphere is pretty cute. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sage Bistro that exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that was both traditional and cozy. The menu was extensive and offered a wide range of dishes that were both creative and delicious. From pastas duck breasts, each dish was expertly crafted with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Despite the high quality of the food, the prices were incredibly reasonable, making this restaurant an amazing value. Back at Sage Bistro today to satisfy a craving I just couldn't shake--creamy shrimp pesto with bowtie pasta. And once again, they absolutely delivered. The sauce was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced, coating every piece of pasta beautifully, while the shrimp was tender, fresh, and packed with flavor. What really stands out to me is their consistency. Every visit feels just as good as the last--the same quality, the same taste, exactly how I remember it. That kind of reliability is rare, and it's a big reason why I keep coming back. No baby changing station! Food was ok a little bit on the salty side but it was still pretty tasty. The place was empty when we were there yet they did not let us choose a table with the booth so that it would be easier for my baby's car seat to be placed. They sat us at the table with the wooden chairs and refused us the booth seating even when we requested it. While we were eating the two ladies that worked at the front kept talking really loud and just having a loud conversation the whole time. Probably won't come back. read more

The pasta was DELICIOUS and my personal fave. The small chunks of tomatoes were packed with flavor. The jambalaya was a bit spicy for me, but my boyfriend loved it! The deviled eggs were delicious, you can never go wrong with deviled eggs. And the salmon was delicious! The cranberry and goat cheese was a great combo! I mean who knew? The sesame Chinese pancake was out of the world with the layers of "man tou" like dough that was dense but not heavy and had a pleasantly chewy center. We had the dan dan noodles as well with the handmade thick noodles. The handmade noodles were al dente and had the perfect chew. The sauce was a bit sweet, but overall decent. After I finished my noodles, I asked for the refill and was suddenly told that only the zhajiang noodles could be refilled. If that is the restaurant's policy, it should have been clearly explained when I asked before ordering. Telling a customer "yes" first and then changing the answer after they have finished their meal is simply poor communication and poor service. The service was the worst part of the experience. My noodles took an unnecessarily long time to come out. More importantly, I felt that the owner treated me noticeably differently from my friend. He was friendly toward my friend but cold and impatient toward me, which made me feel genuinely unwelcome. I understand that tipping is customary in the US, but customers should not feel that the quality of service depends on how much they order or whether they leave a tip. I came here as a paying customer and expected basic courtesy. The food was also nowhere near worth the price. My $16 tomato and egg noodles were extremely basic, only noodles with tomato and egg and they sell it for $16!?? The flavor was nothing special and certainly did not justify the price. Combined with the poor service, the atmosphere made the meal feel even less enjoyable. What makes this experience especially frustrating is that I hadn't eaten all day. I came here genuinely hungry and looking forward to a good meal, only to leave feeling irritated and disappointed. There are plenty of other Chinese noodle restaurants in the area where I can spend $16-17 and actually feel like I received a meal worth paying for. For the price, the food is mediocre, the value is poor, the ambiance is unremarkable, and the service was unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant, do not come!
