I tried Saiga for the first time this past week and enjoyed the food here. I ordered the Pork Belly Banh Mi, the Grilled Pork Bowl, a Thai Tea and a lemonade. The banh mi was really good, with the bread having a nice crispness to it. The grilled pork bowl was also pretty good with the pork being very flavorful. They have an easy ordering system on two kiosks. They are cashless. Now onto the food! I really enjoyed their Vietnamese iced coffee and their lychee green tea. Great flavor for a quick grab and go spot but with lots of great patio seating just one minute away in the same circle lot with umbrellas large comfy seating. Came here to try a little of everything they make on the menu. Garlic Steak Bowl Pork Belly Banh Mi Garlic Noodles with BBQ Chicken Combination Pho Side of Nuoc Cham Side of Pate Gravy Side of green aioli The steak here is unique as it is a premium filet mignon cut along with the bbq chicken. The portions are decent along with the packaging and temperature of the food was perfect. I would definitely recommend the filet mignon as it is not common. The sauces are flavorful and complements well with the food. If you're in the Irvine area and want a picnic or on the go option this is worth a try. A great spot to have near work. I've been here twice and both times the order was ready at the designated time, and the food was very good! I'd prefer a slightly thicker cut for the crispy pork belly, but I can understand why they don't do that. I'd definitely get it again, especially for the price. I felt that ~$14 is pretty fair. As I bite the pork belly banh mi, it reminds me of the Wendy's commercial saying Where's the Beef? We came to this place after seeing many Instagram posts and reading positive reviews. We ordered several banh mi and other items. The roast pork belly sandwich was tasty and toasty. I do like the flavor balance it has. However, the pork belly was small, so certain bites had no meat. It was too chopped, losing the much-needed crispy pork skin crunch. Several other places in the Garden Grove version of this sandwich are much better as they leave the pieces bigger, and each bite, you feel the crispy pork crunch. This would've been better if it had more meat and most importantly, larger pieces. The garlic noodle pork thit nuong was ok. The pork could use more of a grilled char. It was too light-colored and lacked the smoky char of grilled pork fat over flames. The noodle itself was undercooked and very dry. If it weren't for the compliment green sauce, this dish would be hard to eat--no veggies and dry. The grilled pork vermicelli noodles that was good. The sauce flavor was spot on. However, it might be a bit spicy for some who are not used to spice--same feedback on the pork like the garlic noodle above. Overall, price-wise, it was ok. However, given the quality and quantity of the banh mi meats, it was a bit disappointing. We were pleasantly surprised by this small take out spot in the middle of lots of warehouse-like buildings. We tried the garlic noodles with pork belly, the tofu vermicelli and the tofu banh mi. It was the best tofu we've had. They batter it and it's so flavorful. The banh mi was fresh with tasty veggies too. a friend of mine works in this area so we met for dinner. i was like "uhh where is this place?" because this is a GHOST KITCHEN in a businessy/industrial area! that seems to be a growing trend in irvine/costa mesa but it's cool with me. there was plenty of parking surrounding the restaurant and unlike other ghost kitchens i have been to, this place offered seating so you could actually dine in if you wanted. you order from a kiosk and it was very easy. they make everything to order but it only took like 20 mins for our whole order to come out. and they apologized for the wait too because it was a dinner rush (seriously there were a ton of people there), but again, it was cool with me. my friend got pho and garlic noodles with chicken. i got a grilled pork noodle bowl and egg rolls. and a vietnamese coffee. this places packages everything as if you're taking it to go. they're actually very thoughtful with it too; like the bowl comes with an eggroll and they packaged it separately so that it wouldn't get soggy. the only thing is that since we ate there, i felt like i wasted a bunch of plastic. but it is what it is! i thought my food looked better than my friend's. the bowl of pho /looked/ smaller than at other places. but then she let me try her food and i had fomo. the broth was super dark and rich and deep with flavor and the garlic noodles were bombbbbbb. they also come with this spicy green sauce that i really liked the flavor of but couldn't place what it was, even as i was licking the cup clean. my food was also great! the chargrill on my pork was a delight and the veggies were crisp. the sauce was again kind of spicy but the type that builds as you eat more. and the eggrolls were super crispy! my coffee was good too but i wish they had sealed cups for shaking because all the bitter coffee was on the bottom and milk on top and i couldn't get a good mix. i would definitely come back! read more

Wow! Who would've thought? Saiga Vietnamese Eatery is a hidden gem situated in an commercial area. This place is perfect to grab some food and drinks to-go, or to even eat inside or outside. My husband and I had the brisket pho and crispy pork belly banh mi. I believe the pho has some fatty brisket pieces, in which I thoroughly enjoyed. Both items were shareable between us both. I tried their Combination Pho and Chicken Banh Mi and ate at home. The pho broth was good but not the richest of pho broths. The filet mignon (bò tái) was very high quality and fatty and delicious! The brisket was good but a bit dry and could be more flavorful. There were no mint, bean sprouts, lime or hoisin sauce though so don't expect a full authentic restaurant pho experience. The Chicken Banh Mi was very good! The bread was fresh, the carrots were finely diced but still crunchy, the chicken wasn't dry and the house mayo was creamy. There was strangely no cucumber but it wasn't missed by any means. I also had the Thai Tea which was good and not too sweet. Overall it's great as a takeout option and I'd recommend trying it if you're in the area. Rice had a bit of quinoa consistency. Generally bland without sauce. The 'extra' sauce is 50 cents, but the meal doesn't come with any to begin with so it's not actually extra. Food comes in a recyclable container, but it isn't microwaveable which could be a turn off if you're grabbing food to-go but not having the means to heat it up later.
