I'm a fan of their vietnamese food. The broth they use in their Pho is aromatic and really stands out from their competition. I've never tasted anything like it. I always order a side of broth, even when I'm not having pho. Their other vietnamese dishes are good too. For appetizers, I like the pork patty roll - it's like a spring roll, but with pork and with a crunch (from the wonton). For the entree, I like to order the Banh Hoi, which is vermicelli noodles and grilled pork. I like their dipping sauce (sweetened fish sauce?) because it's really flavorful. I've tried a few of their Thai dishes, but thought they were kind of bland. I'm Thai, so I have high expectations in that cuisine. I would definitely go back for the vietnamese food though. read more

Love love love this place! The pho is the best we've found in Austin. Spring rolls are fresh and delicious, dumplings are tasty, even the crab Rangoon are delicious, and I have not found any that I can even tolerate elsewhere in the metro area. Its a solid 3 1/2 but not a 4 due to what I think is "watered down" flavors in order to appeal to the masses. I really want to support the mom and pop shops but the bold thai/vietnamese flavors were just meh. The shrimp spring rolls were simply ok but very fresh tasting. I will add that everything we had was made fresh and presented well. The xoi ga(fried sticky rice) was served hot but again bland and needed a sauce on the side maybe. The pho ga (noodle soup with chicken) came with more noodles than most restaurants serve which was a plus and the broth was not too salty like some but was skimpy on the chicken. The tom kha was fresh and hot but needed more coconut, lemon grass, lime juice, and chili. The menu showed 2 peppers meaning somewhat spicy, but there was zero spice. And finally was the pad thai that I judge all thai restaurants on their execution. Again...surprise...bland. And didnt come with any bean sprouts which the menu claims and is almost always served on the side at least. In summary, this would probably be the perfect thai/vietnamese restaurant for a someone new to the cuisine, but if youve been wowed by the bold, complex flavors of what thai is about, you may want to avoid this place because the flavors arent there. However, the service is great and super friendly. read more

I just had my third meal there. The first one, soon after they opened, was so disappointing that it took me over a year to give them another try, even though they are only a one-minute drive from my house. My first meal was pad Thai and, although the ingredients were fresh, it was nearly flavorless, with no egg and no peanuts. Earlier this week I finally tried another noodle dish, the chicken pad kua kai, similar to pad Thai with a slightly different seasonings and wide noodles. I made a point of reminding them to include egg and they did. The amount of chicken was very generous. Today I tried the chicken yellow curry on vermicelli and I liked it the best so far. (I still haven't ordered a dish with tofu again after the first time.) However, the online menu says, "Served with rice vermicelli, bean sprouts, cucumber, pickled carrots, lettuce, scallions, roasted peanuts, and nuoc cham." Like the first time, no peanuts. But it was flavorful enough I didn't actually miss the peanuts until I had eaten it all. So, they have won me over and I expect to become a regular customer. 9-6-2017 - Just tried the "Sapa Feast" dish (menu item S14) and enjoyed it for the wide variety of ingredients and the savory, sweet and mildly spicy sauce. read more

My favorite local Vietnamese restaurant hidden in Hudson bend. I love coming here with my friends every once in a while if we don't want to drive too far from the Lakeway/Mansfield Dam area. The family who runs this place is the sweetest family ever and they really do care about their food and you can taste it. 10/10 would definitely recommend coming here if you have the chance :) Best pho and traditional Vietnamese food in the area! read more

I want to start off by saying the service was very good and the man serving our food was very nice. Unfortunately, the thai food was not very good. We got springs rolls, tom yum, pad thai, and tilapia curry. I'm not sure if the management changed or something but none of the foods we received looked like the pictures from previous reviews. It was quite disappointing. I may come back one day and try the pho because the owners seemed to be Vietnamese and the reviews mention the pho a lot. read more

Best Pho in town!!! I have tried Pho at many places and hands down this is the best. The flavor of the broth was wonderful and the rare beef was so tender it almost fell apart in my month. We tried several other dishes as well and all of them were great. Saigon Sautéed Beef & Shrimp was Spicy and Flavorful. Tornado Chicken was light and refreshing with ginger, lime and honey. Rated R Shrimp was Tangy and spicy. Food was amazing. You have to try this place. read more

I have been complaining for ages about our neighborhoods limited and not impressive dining. The food at Saigon Café was wonderful! The food was authentic Vietnamese, Thai. All our dishes came quickly, piping hot and fresh ingredients. The owner is so sweet and everyone working there was very friendly! I felt sorry for the people working in the kitchen as the air conditioner broke down the day I was there. Warning to all alcoholics- they do not have a liquor license. I am not sure if they intend to get one, but you are warmly welcome to bring your own beer or wine, and they do not charge a corking fee. Saigon Café reminds me of an incredible, small family owned restaurant in Vancouver BC that I used to go to when I was young. They take great pride in the cuisine served here.
