First place I had pho in Albuquerque when I moved here and still one of my favorites! Their rare beef pho is on point with any in the city. I like the pho broth here more than anywhere, it's always great and very tasty! Their spring rolls are also great, they have bean sprouts, basil, lettuce, carrots in them with the meat of your choice, unlike some places that only have the noodles and meat. Their portions are a little bit smaller than most Vietnamese places I have been to, but the food quality is much better than most also! They also have a second location in Rio Rancho near where I work and I go there quite often also. Attentive staff with fair command of English but very warm! Tasty food! I'm a bit of a SE Asian food junkie and some of my Vietnamese friends quip that I'm more viet than they are! Let's get to the dirty... Lotus salad- I looooove lotus root salad & this was deeeelish! The portion was on the conservative side for the price. Spring rolls (prepare yourself-literally!)- ample herbs given (basil, cilantro)!chicken is tasty but all thigh meat. I bet the beef was good. My mom is a pescovegetarian so they were kind enough to throw in a couple of shrimp! Thai hot pot- just like in major metros where I've had it--full of flavor, seafood, herbs. There was even fresh cumin plant(tastes like dandelion flowers) on top! In abq?!? Impressive!!! & a hearty portion given! Avocado shake-awesome, much smaller portion but higher price than in other cities, which made it a major thumbs down. The boba wasn't very fresh either. Cons- everything more or less came out at the same time and on our lil table we were struggling to make our spring rolls since everything came out so quickly, the hot pot quickly started to overcook as our hands were busy making our spring rolls... I've had this combo in other cities who somehow knew that the rolls were a starter and hot pot later. Just by eyeballing the small table it should have been obvious that putting everything out at once is a bad idea. I should have reiterated "we will start with the spring rolls..." Hmm, I grew up eating pho every two weeks or so, so I'm a bit picky when it comes to it. I had a wonton combination pho and it was alright, but heavy on the artificial flavors and not very fresh in general. That said, NM is not known for its amazing Asian food, and so this is probably pretty good if you haven't had too much Vietnamese food in your life. P had some vegetarian stir fry thing (tofu and broccoli) and it didn't look very Viet to me, more generic-Chinese. I didn't like it at all, and he didn't like mine. I thought mine was actually a lot better than his, but he was thinking that his was better than mine! So, I don't know what to recommend you. The spring rolls were a bit stale: the wrap had kinda dried up a little so that was a bit off-putting. The waitress was very attentive and extremely friendly. read more

One of my family's favorite Pho Restaurants in ABQ. This place is clearly a family run business. They make you feel welcome. Their egg rolls are great. They serve them with lettuce wraps. The pho is good, but so is everything else. I had one of their Fire Pots...fresh seafood soup cooked at your table! Truly unique and delicious. read more

Poor service from the young waiter and woman with short hair, I tried the pho dac biet (soup with rice noodles, meatballs, tendon, and beef). It was sufficient. I had the quail for an appetizer. I have long been a lover of Pho but haven't found any as good as I would get in the Vietnamese section of my hometown. While passing through Albuquerque on a road trip, my family had lunch at Saigon Restaurant. I ordered #24, clear noodles with tofu and vegetables and it was truly the BEST Pho I've ever had. The broth was so flavorful and the bowl was packed with fresh veggies and chunks of tofu. The side sprouts and herbs were crisp and fresh. I had a nasty cold and this Pho hit the spot. Perfect! My seven year old daughter, who is quite the foodie, loved her beef ball noodle Pho and noticed the difference in flavor and quality over what she's had in other restaurants. The shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce were also fresh and delicious. Portions were huge, one bowl of Pho is plenty for two, and prices were very reasonable. I can't say much for the shabby decor, but service was quite friendly, prompt and attentive. It's too bad my new favorite Pho is ten hours away from home. If we're ever in Albuquerque again Saigon Restaurant will definitely be our first stop! read more

I enjoyed the food, though it was nothing spectacular- with enough peanut sauce & siracha, it was easily palatable. service, as an earlier poster stated, was attentive and efficient.....so much so that we'd been eating about 6min when the bill came.....umm, what if i wanted ice cream? haha, I guess it's a cultural thing, so I don't mind, I'm never one to complain about efficiency. ok, the gnats. Hey, lighten up you say, it's just a tiny little gnat. well, after killing 6 of them, including picking the one out that was crawling through my rice (and would NOT fly away....little bastard....haha, get it? ;), I started to get annoyed. after about the 10th one, I deducted .50c from the tip, but only .50 b/c the kid serving us was prob family and was very polite. When I first started speeding more time in Albuquerque, I made a list of all the Vietnamese restaurants. Then if I looked up at a certain part of town, I'd just look to see what was close to try. It was a great way to come to know the different types of Vietnamese specialties we have in town! As I ate my way across town, if a server or busboy was nice I would ask where THEY eat on their day off. Then I asked where they ate if grandma was sick! Unanimously they said Saigon at San Mateo and Osuna, by Cliff's Water Park. One trip to Saigon sealed the deal, and now it is where I always go for Vietnamese comfort food that is made with love and pride. If a new customer walks in, Vicky can see the questions in their eyes. She asks a couple of questions then makes suggestions for what they will like. Then when the food comes out, she makes sure you know how to eat the exotic and beautiful and fresh food. For instance, the egg rolls are served with beautiful fresh herbs and lettuce leaves. Put a little basil inside the lettuce leaf, then lay the fried egg roll on top of that, then roll it up and dip it in the fish sauce. The lettuce gives the light sauce something to stick to, and makes the egg roll a second layer of treat!! Everything is good. You can't come here without getting a spring roll. The best and freshest, and a sauce so good I want to eat it with a spoon! A "small" wonton soup is an appetizer on the menu that is guaranteed to brighten even a sunny day! Then "Bun" is a bed of fresh greens, bean sprouts and herbs under thin rice noodle vermicelli. Then you have a choice of protein, with mine being grilled prawns and thinly sliced marinated grilled pork. It comes with a small bowl of sweet/salty/sour sauce that is known as "fish sauce", that you pour over the dish ... Then DIG IN!!! This one is entree size portion. If you like complex and exotic flavors, try the Thai style hot and sour soup with noodles. I usually get mine with tofu, but it also comes with mixed sea foods. I is a huge portion. read more

This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the state of NM. There is just not anything on this menu that will not amaze but make sure to try the Pho. I've heard great things about this place for years so husband and I decided to give it a try with our 2 kids age 3 & 5. They have booths which was a plus as it's easier to wrangle in our kids. We were sat and waited probably 15 min for someone to take our order, they did bring out water right away which was nice but it was awkward waiting for so long. The appetizer came out right away which was nice, we ordered the egg rolls which were a little too greasy. Our meal, however, took a while and was slightly cold when it arrived. I ordered Pho and the cilantro and basil they brought was old and wilted and they gave me 2 slices of jalapeño. The broth was decent though. My kids got grilled chicken with rice and their rice was cold and seemed old and crusty. My husband ordered vermicelli and pork & shrimp which okay, nothing special though. The waitress was on top of refilling our water however once we were finished it took like 20 min for them to bring us our check so we could pay. This place was okay, probably won't return. read more

Food is good but not great. We had the pho and asked for fried rice but the waiter talked us into a grilled chicken hot pot. It was more flavorful but the pho was really bland. I'd eat here again since it is close to home but I definitely prefer the pho at Cafe Trang or Que Hong--both near Louisiana and Central on the SE side. We've been here three or four times for lunch, over the past two weeks or so. Yes, really. Every time, we're getting #13 - pho with rare beef. It's great. Their broth is good and the portion is definitely significant. I like that they know what "extra vegetables" means. Service is always pleasant. The restaurant itself, however, is strange. It's very clean, but sometimes you smell something that is off - not bad, just noticeable. They need to renovate. This place has pretty good pho but not the greatest. Their bean sprouts are usually fresh and crunchy. I've tried their seafood noodle combination and it didn't taste that great.. maybe it was my way of adding the sauces. This place is not that great. The service is ok there is nothing special about it. The food is a hit and miss. It can be salty or just right. Once I got a wrong order because the waitress did not take the time to write down the order. The bathrooms are not that sanitary and you have to go through the hallway towards the back to reach it. Overall, I think this restaurant is ok, but it's not worth it. You can find some other vietnamese place better than here. read more

Quiet. Delicious. Friendly. Tucked away in a corner of a quiet strip mall, this shop caters to locals. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and seated immediately. I ordered a dry noodle dish with pork (pork was marvelous) and fish sauce. My daughter ordered a broken rice dish with slivers of pork and marvelous beef. It was more than we could eat in one sitting. We had the boba vietnamese coffee with tapioca; it had too many bobas and wasn't quite what I know the Iced coffee to be. This is one of the best in town. I always get the number 14 and it never disappoints. The rice noodles are the perfect consistency. I recommend adding the chili oil to make it spicy. I also had the spicy beef noodle. However I have never been to an Asian inspired restaurant where the food is spicy enough for my taste. That's why I am only giving this place four stars. read more
