She had a mask, kept her distance, and had two buckets for pens (one for cleaned and one for dirty). Flavor of the pho was salty- but in a good way, and probably one of the best in the area. Delicious Vietnamese food. My fiance and I came here the other night and really enjoyed our experience. We came on a Wednesday evening so despite making a reservation, there was plenty of seating. Between the two of us, we ordered the pork summer rolls and chicken wings with a sriracha butter sauce. My fiance got the pho with flank and I got the pho with oxtail as our entrees. The summer rolls were decent (nothing to rave about), but the chicken wings were awesome. They were really crispy and super flavorful...I would definitely get these again. The broth in the pho was delicious, and the portions were pretty healthy. The oxtail, though, was a little tough (they could have benefited from stewing a little longer). Service was pretty good overall. We got checked on a couple of times throughout our dining experience. Good food, good service and good prices...we'll definitely be back. read more

I've come to Saigon Spring a couple of times. My first experience dining there wasn't so pleasant as the service was a bit slow even when the restaurant wasn't packed. What sealed the deal for my first impression was that our server had already brought us a check even though my husband and I were thinking of ordering dessert. That gesture made the decision for us. I usually like to try a restaurant a few times before giving it a review. Service the second time around was much, much better. Surprisingly, there were more patrons in the restaurant. Their dishes are very tasty and they give you generous portions of food. We've ordered the shaking beef which is delicious. It comes with rice and a lime and pepper sauce. I really enjoy their summer rolls. The grilled pork is very tasty with the right amount of brown sugar and lemongrass flavor. I'd say they pack it really well with the vermicellli noodles. Their bun is also tasty. Again, they seem to give a lot of the vermicelli noodle. What makes it so delicious is the spring roll which doesn't use a typical egg roll wrapper but the rice wrapper instead which I LOVE! It has great crunch and texture and is always my favorite part of a bun. I also tried their special noodle soup pho which has brisket, beef balls and beef eye round. It's interesting as most special noodle soups I've had in Chicago usually include tripe and tendon. I miss that bit of gristle that you'd find in a pho. Overall, it was tasty. Again, generous portions of meat and noodle. A little bit more expensive than a special noodle pho in Chicago ($7.25-$7.50 in Chicago, $8 here in Clifton Park) but it satisfied my cravings. read more

We absolutely love Saigon Spring! I am not typically your most adventurous eater, but my husband is, and when he said he ate here many times with colleagues, we had to try it for ourselves. We've been enjoying it for years. More recently "to go" with the pandemic. They actually even masked until recently! My favorites include the shrimp summer rolls, the spare ribs, the little crunchy rolls, the pho (I get chicken or tofu, all seem amazing), the shaking beef and the pork slices over rice or rice noodles. The pho has so many amazing flavors! If you're pregnant, just ask for the shaking beef well done and mention you're pregnant, because it sometimes is a little more to the medium-rare side of things. It is fantastic. Delicious and I love the onions and rice and the lemony sauce for the rice and veggies (it's on the side!). The Thai iced tea is sweet but I do usually splurge for it since we go probably once or twice a month. Love it here!!! Enjoy! read more

Yes it's a little out of the way but I knew there would be great things to come from this place when I saw it was located in a strip mall next to a Halal market (which I will be back for on another visit). We were seated immediately and service from start to finish was excellent. We started out with apps including the fried octopus (served with sweet pineapple and spicy jalapeño) and shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls were excellent and I could have made a whole meal out of those although I'm glad that I didn't because every part of this meal got better. I ordered the scallops, shrimp, eggplant, lemongrass and crispy egg noodles. Mind blown --- the sauce was delicate and sweet, the vegetables fresh, the noodles enticing. Phenomenal! The grilled beef dish was also good. Savory and flavorful. Lastly the duck was very tender as well. So if you're looking for good Vietnamese this should be at the top of your list. read more

They have one critical flaw. The food is too good. Having discovered that they were related to Van's in Albany, which I love, I figured this would be a closer alternative for me. We arrived on at about 7pm on a Saturday to be greeted by a decent crowd at the door. They don't seem to have a host but we managed to flag down someone to put our name on the list. We were told there was gonna be a wait, no time estimate given. Seeing two empty seats at the bar I thought we may have a better chance there. There was still food leftover from the previous party but I was confident that would be cleared quickly. We ended up sitting there for a good twenty minutes without being acknowledged, while server after server went back and forth, putting in food orders and getting drinks never pausing long enough to make eye contact. All this time sitting with someone else's discarded food in front of our faces. We were finally able to flag down the person who took down our name and asked if we were able to be served food at the bar. We were then quickly given menus apologetically and the plates were cleared. Our order was taken and the appetizers arrived within minutes. The stuffed chicken wings are quite good as others have said. But I thought they were a little pricey when you only get 3 per order. Unfortunately they were out of the barbecued pork spareribs which I was hoping to try also. There was then a large gap before our entrees arrived. After hearing a lot of good things about Pho, I decided to try the Pho Ga. As a n00b its very intimidating. You are given a plate with two kinds of sauces, bean sprouts, herbs, and lime to add as you desire. You are then served this giant bowl of stock with chicken, noodles, onions, scallions, and cilantro. I don 't really understand the appeal. It's just way too much soup for one person to eat without getting bored. Hopefully some of the kinks get worked out with the location and service because the food is just as good as Van's but the biggest problem they have seems to be not enough room to accommodate all the customers. What fast paced service! We went during dinner time about 35 diners to service with only 3 waiters. We got to our tables quickly. Orders came within 10 minutes with appetizer and our Pho soup. Soooo we went in literally a half hour before they closed. We realized they were gonna close then tried to leave they insisted(in a good way) to stay and enjoy the meal. We sat down ordered drinks, one App and 3 entrees. One of us got the vegetable pho soup, and the other one got half chicken entree and they loved it. I got the fried chicken app and it was beautiful. The chicken was crispy and dare I say it... moist. I also ordered the shrimp Noodle soup. Amazing. I'm defiantly adding more veggies to the soup only because how fresh they looks in my friends soup!! So happy that Yelp helped me find this place. The quality of the food and depth of the flavors here is fantastic. The service is friendly and very attentive; presentation of the food is also nice. The decor is simple and casual yet classy. The tables are nicely spaced for private conversation and volume control, which I always like. The Husband and I were a little nervous when we first arrived for dinner, as the place was pretty empty. But the dining room quickly filled with several parties of people. We tried a variety of items since this was our first visit. I had a Mai Tai to drink, which was very yummy and not lacking alcohol. Husband had a Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel, a dark ale which I sampled and we both liked. We had the Pork Summer Roll (pic) and Stuffed Wings for appetizers, both which were very good. The wings were sort of novel for me, as I haven't had anything like them before, and I found them super tasty. They were out of my Husband's first choice for an entree, but I can't remember now what it was. This was a little disappointing but it wasn't hard for him to find something else on the menu that sounded appealing. While this may be a negative thing if you are anticipating a particular dish, I see it as a possible indicator that they don't overstock and therefore keep their ingredients fresh. I had the Tofu Curry as an entree, and Husband went with the Shaking Beef (pic). We were both extremely pleased. His beef came with an interesting spice/ salt concoction on the side, which the waitress explained he should squeeze the lemon wedge into and then dip his beef. It was gooood. We didn't have room for dessert after polishing off two apps and most of our entrees, so we finished with Thai coffee (pic). The coffee was served with the filter dripping from above the mug and condensed milk lining the bottom. It was very rich and sweet. My husband and I love Saigon Spring Restaurant! We stop there when time allows whenever we are driving down toward Albany. It's conveniently located, just off the Northway, and the food is great! They have a good menu with many choices, including with or without meat, and also some vegan options. The wait staff is always courteous and helpful, with only a short wait for food. I was craving some Icy Point rolled ice cream for dessert but wanted something warm and filling for dinner. I had decided to grab some pho, but my usual spot was quite far from Icy Point. This is wonderful Asian restaurant. I ordered pho bo and pork summer rolls and was pleasantly surprised to see what was delivered. I ate half of each the first day and was happy that the leftovers could be made into two lunches. The rolls were bigger then expected but I think that was a good thing. The pork was well seasoned and tangy wrapped w crisp lettuce, sweet basil and cool refreshing mint all rolled in thin rice wrappers. There were also verchimelli in it which added a wonderful texture to them. The dipping sauce was good but not as flavorful as I would have thought it should be. The pho no was delicious they listened to my request for no jalapeños. The mix ins of sprouts, basil and lime were plentiful. The hoisin sauce could have been more, I did not use the siracha. The rice noodles were plentiful, the broth pretty much the right temp. The brisket and thin beef were plentiful but I had to microwave the broth with the thin meet strips as they were delivered raw. In the restaurant they are raw but the soup is able to cook it, I personally got a little nervous and to be safe microwaved it. The broth was tasty and spiced good- I think it could have used a bit more spice but it was still delicious. read more
