I really wanted to like this place since it's walking distance from home. Sadly, this was the second time we've been to this restaurant in 5+ years (we didn't have a good experience the first time) and it will most definitely be our last. First off, we were met by the Asian waitress who was clearly annoyed we didn't have reservations but decided to seat us anyway. She plopped down our menus, took our drink and food orders and was never to return to our table again. When the other sweet waitress finally delivered our food, it was mediocre at best. Absolutely amazing sushi and an even better staff. I was lucky enough to try some otoro and black snapper during my visit and the sushi was prepared splendidly. Definitely have it with fresh wasabi and minimal to no soy sauce. Salmon is cooked perfectly and the sake list delivers as well. Food is great but if you order through phone, double check the food to see it's correct. Especially the prices they charge. I placed an order of over $90 +15% for tip and even went over my list of ordered food with the lady on the phone TWICE and still got two entrees totally wrong. One particularly confusing one was when I told her twice I wanted the BBQ Pork entree but got charged for the BBQ Short rib ( which was priced higher than the BBQ pork) but didn't even receive either and got some Fish entree that went totally to waste. Highly disappointed considering this is the closest sushi place to me and I'm new to the area. I was contemplating going back and getting a refund on the wrong entrees or switch them but decided to bite my tongue and let it go since small business and restaurants are not doing great right now, but with that being said, I would expect better service and communication considering the circumstances of our country. A nice restaurant with good atmosphere. You can tell the owner or manager is trying hard to give the customers a good experience. They have a nice variety of selections and the prices are reasonable, pretty average for sushi. I felt some of the waiters were slightly lacking in their attention (my roll wasn't made to my specifications, I had to ask for drink re-fills as well... over all just not the attention I'm sure that manager / owner wanted his staff to give. Nonetheless I did enjoy my experience here and I would come back. Funny thing I noticed is they had candles everywhere in the woman's restroom... did smell nice, but having candles on the floor might be a fire hazard? This is why I love Yelp!! My girlfriend and I had no idea what to have last dinner last night. she got on yelp and found this little restaurant near the area. At first we thought it was just another hole-in-the-wall Sushi place. As soon as we walked in the staff was very attentive and cheerful, they gave us the choice of seating at a table or the bar. We chose the bar. We ordered the Spicy Tuna roll, the Jalapeno Bomb and a couple other dishes that were amazing. The chefs were very accomodating, since Ironically I have a shellfish allergy. They made our dishes perfectly and replaced some items so that I could enjoy their sushi. Everything was amazing!! the flavors were just right on every bite! If you go here. choose to seat at the bar area, that way you can see how masterfully they create every sushi roll. I can't wait to go back to this place!! read more

Damn delicious. I go to sushi places almost EVERY week for past two years or so. This place has some of the best (fresh) sashimi around the area. I'm a big fan of Toro sushi, its awesome here. For that I'd give them 4 stars based on food ONLY. About the service... Only if they had a separate starring system for service. They have really bad service. I went on a Friday night with a party of 7, the restaurant was kind of quiet. I can't really pin point it, but their overall service only deserves 1.5 out of 5 stars. Would I go again? Most likely not. The food definately isn't worth the wait. The last time I went was on a Friday night, party of 6, and NO they were not busy... at all. Any avid sushi eater knows roughly how long it takes to make "Chirashi." All my friends received their food, ate it, and then we still hung around for roughly 20 minutes before the waitress came back to ask how everything was. When I told her, she told me that "They were still making it." Bottom Line: Service is really bad. Waiter(waitresses) are friendly, but very inexperienced. I've only been there twice, and I have had bad experiences twice. I'm not looking for a third. read more

You can easily miss this place if you're just driving by, considering it's tucked off to the side. It's located in the same plaza as the Ralph's. My husband and I came here a couple of times for early dinners. There was never a crowd, which was nice because we always got seated right away. The restaurant is kinda small, so I would imagine there might be a bit of a wait during peak hours. The servers are not the most friendly and almost a bit too in your face. When they talk to you, it's almost like they have no sense of personal space! There's also a slight language barrier, as my husband once asked them a few questions about their menu items and they seemed really confused. Their Korean BBQ ribs are pretty good and come with a ton of onions! They come on a sizzling stone plate like the ones you see at soon doo boo restaurants. I personally love their pork katsu, which is perfectly fried. Their chicken teriyaki is just okay and their chirashi bowl is small, so it's hard to get full off of. Generally, the majority of their meat dishes come with a fairly large amount of protein, but all of them come with a meager portion of rice! I swear they only give you 1/4 of a cup or less - no joke! Good if you're watching your carb intake, but bad if you eat a proportionate amount of rice to meat. They charge $1.50 for an additional tiny bowl of rice, which is absurd! Prices are truly outrageous here, as most of their dishes cost at least $13 and don't even come with a full bento box of sides! Nonetheless, the quality of the meat is pretty good and the plaza it's in has plenty of parking. Still a decent option for Japanese food in the North OC. read more

This did not sit well with me, especially since there were three sushi chefs behind the counter. To be fair our waitress was apologetic and offered free ice cream. That gesture didn't win me back. The sushi is good, period. The reason I gave it a 3 is because: 1. The service. They made me feel like I was bothering them. NOT friendly! 2. It wasn't busy AT ALL but they took FOREVER to bring me my first item I had ordered. 3. They got my order wrong. I ordered a spicy yellowtail hand roll & he gave me yellowtail sashimi. I started eating it because I honestly couldn't even remember all the stuff I had ordered. Once he realized, he asked for my plate back and threw the last 2 pieces that I had on my plate into a "hand-roll" and handed it to me. I had to ask him to add the spicy sauce. Very disappointing! 4. The prices. Very expensive (for what you get) & they don't even offer all you can eat! -bummer!!! 5. Usually when you are done with one dish, most places don't take long to pick it up, but this place left ALL of my dishes around me! 6. I went in there to eat alone, which I don't mind & usually when I do - the guys behind the sushi bar usually are nice & talk to me. Not these guys! It was not a good experience. My new favorite sushi place by the house :-) Finally!!! The staff is so friendly and on top of their game. I think the female owner roams around the restaurant making sure everything is okay. she was very nice and made you feel like you have known her forever. The sushi is fresh and the rolls are packed tight so nothing falls apart when you pick it up. Great selection of rolls and they have a good selection for their $1 sushi on Mondays. We asked the sushi chef to come up with something new for us since we were still hungry but not really sure which roll we wanted and he came up with an amazing concoction. This is a Korean-owned joint in the North Orange County area that has a "lot" of sushi places but not a lot of great sushi places. I wouldn't put it on par with a place like Ohshima (in Orange) but it is an excellent place if you like rolls and more mainstream stuff. In fact, it's our favorite sushi place in the North Orange County area. The servers are always very kind and the owner has always come by to check on us and say hello to our 1-year old. Our drinks are always refilled and the food is spectacular for the area. Sashimi is generously cut (our favorite is the salmon). We did visit on a Monday once and were surprised to find $1 sushi. What a treat. I believe Yellowtail and some other fish were a little more, but salmon was $1. My mouth is watering thinking about it ... we might go tomorrow. read more

I give them a 3.5 star Small quiet Sushi bar in Placentia, in a secluded section of a strip mall. It has a neighborhood feel and is usually not too crowded. Inside is very clean and modern look with a TV screen to catch sporting events and the like. Wait staff is pretty friendly and they have $1 sushi nights on Mondays and 50% off Asahi beer on Tuesday nights. The $1 sushi is limited to 5 types of sushi. They have all sorts of interesting rolls named after the city and neighboring cities. They have a california roll with spicy tuna on top, yummm that is good. They also have japanese style dumplings, udon and salad. I like to order many different items (a lot from the appetizer section) and fill myself up that way. They do have a somewhat fusion section where they offer some Korean type dishes as well. It's walking distance from where I live, so it's a great place to grub on Japanese food, without driving far. They have outside seating available (perhaps I'll try it out this summer). They have your choices of beers and sake. I believe they may have soju as well but I am not sure. It's not the best quality, but its decent and worthy to go if you are in the area. read more

One of the better sushi restaurants in the Placentia-Yorba Linda area. For a quick sushi fix this is the place to go. The decor and ambiance is great, it's inviting and holds down a nice homely feeling. The sushi decent, I cannot say it's the high-end stuff, but for the price I can't complain. They do manage to bring in good fish. I've had sushi where it wasn't fresh, the quality was obviously compromised, I think for the sake of everyone's well-being when it comes to eating raw fish, I recommend always looking for top quality. The plating and the presentation is quite good. I've read other comments about not getting the ramen here, that's basically comparable to store bought top ramen. We got the udon, and can't say it was the absolute best. All in all, I would just say not to get that here either. Stick to the sushi. read more

When I walked in and heard SHINee's "Lucifer" and Narsha's "Bbi-Ri-Bop-A," I thought to myself, this place can't fool me, it's KOREAN. Luckily for them, you don't have to be 100% authentic to provide a passable meal. Today I came in with a friend for the first time because I heard about their Monday $1 sushi special. Instead I opted for their lunch sushi combination (4 pieces of sushi-tuna, white fish, salmon, and shrimp + popcorn lobster roll) and my friend ordered a bento box with a spicy tuna roll and beef teriyaki. The sushi did seem a bit dry but that would make sense when you consider Anthony Bourdain's warning: never order fish on Mondays (it could be leftovers from the restaurant or the seafood vendors). All in all, it was a decent meal. a lot more filling than I expected and the rolls that were said to be spicy were actually somewhat spicy (the spiciness tends to develop as you're eating it, instead of tasting it immediately or getting a kick at the end). I thought there might have been too much sauce on some of the dishes, but that's just my personal preference. We did also ordered tempura ice cream, but I have had it better at other places. The crust wasn't warm or flaky enough and there wasn't much chocolate drizzled onto the plate. If you're a sushi connoisseur, then the sashimi is sure to disappoint. But if you're into sushi rolls, it's a nice place to try. read more

I love this Sushi joint. I have definitely had cheaper, and maybe even better sushi. But I consistently enjoy myself the most here. The sushi is always excellent, and more importantly the service is outstanding, albeit a bit slow at times. This place is run and owned by a very nice Husband and Wife team. I don't think I have ever been there without seeing them. I have to take issue with Becca's review. She gave a subpar review based entirely on bad service. It always makes me curious that someone would complain about service at a place where the service has always been exemplary for me. Perhaps just a difficult customer? Most reviews on here site the customer service as one of their pros. The sometimes bit longer then usual wait for sushi, is not enough to lower a star in my opinion. Definitely a great smaller sushi restaurant! Everyone there was SO friendly and nice. The service was amazing too. Once the sushi was made, it was at our table within 10 seconds. And I absolutely loved how when we got up to leave, everyone (and I mean everyone from the owners to the servers to the sushi chefs) said goodbye to us! And it was our first time there. It was a very nice experience. The food was great too! I didn't have any of the sushi, but I ordered a cooked entree and it was amazing. The other people I was dining with had the sushi and enjoyed it. We all left the restaurant completely stuffed from eating so much. We will definitely be back again!! read more

I was excited to try this place after reviews I read and a friend's recommend. Though the place was very nice, clean, and attractive, I ended up very disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the wait staff and hostess were all very nice and attentive. The manager was too when I had my issues. Though the bar was pretty much empty, it seemed an eternity before the chef even acknowledged me, let alone asked what I would like. I asked for the lobster roll not to be baked (YUCK) and they would not do it. So, I ordered a Poke salad, which also too a long time. OK I can let this go... until I started eating. This beautiful salad that I waited for and was excited to eat once I saw it, was terrible. The fish was BAD. A mixture of fishes, which I appreciated, some were fresh, some were foul. Thankfully the server and manager were both very apologetic and took it away with no incident. I ended up leaving (three strikes, you're out). We got there at 2:10, we didn't know they close at 2:30 for lunch. They still let us in. The owner said that they were going on their lunch, but we're welcome to stay, just order before 230 and we'll be good. We ordered the gold dragon roll, the dancing roll, salmon sushi, tempura vegetarian rolls, and some mochi ice cream. OMG the dragon roll and dancing roll were delishhhh. I was debating writing this review because selfishly I don't want more people to know about this gem! ;) My husband and I went here for dinner last week since we live so close, we thought we'd try it out! I was beyond impressed and by seeing another customer order the noodles, I thought I would give them a try! If you know me, this is NOT like me whatsoever. My husband gives me a hard time because I am not a noodle person. However, I felt like going out on a limb and I'm glad I did! By far the best noodles I've had! SO delicious! My husband order an entree with scallops on a hot plate as well as a roll. He said the roll was good (can't really mess it up) and the scallops was really good. I did only give them 4 stars because the scallops were slightly pricey but I do have to say he got a lot of them so that was okay to me for the price! ;) I also gave it a 4 star because overall the prices did seem a bit high in comparison to other sushi places in the area. However, I was a HUGE fan of this restaurant so I let it slide with the nice ambiance and FANTASTIC service from everyone that worked there! Truly they were working together!
