The food is always fresh and well-made. It is very affordable and the customer service is great too. Ok, so one of those places "you get what you pay for". If you're on a budget, can hang out for a few hours to eat, and don't care that your sushi may be questionable, here you go. Service was awful. There only was one girl working the tables. One sushi chef, and perhaps his wife cooking in the kitchen. Anyway, no one was bussing the tables, no one ever asked how the food was, no refills. I had teriyaki beef with Alaska roll, and Sarah had teriyaki chicken with spicy tuna roll. We ate the teriyaki and waited, and waited for the Alaska roll. Not bad, I did like the heaping serving of wasabi and ginger. Then, we waited and waited and asked about the spicy tuna roll. It came, tasted like it was sitting out for awhile... Instead of waiting for the check I went to the cash register to pay. On the way, I was greeted by a nasty spill (hopefully not something else) on the floor, that no one was cleaning up. Came in to have a quick dinner with my bf. ordered some drinks and some rolls and sushi. Took 15 mins for us to get our drinks and waited a little longer for our food. When we got too hungry I asked the waitress with long hair to check on our food. She instantly changed her body language and had a bad attitude told us "I took the order and they are making the food" pointing to the chefs. Ummm yeah we know this but can you check on it? We told her we would like to have whatever Is ready instead of having everything out at the same time.. Well we waited and got all of our food at once . Sigh .. Then when we ate our spicy crunch roll we notice that the roll was not only skimped of the tuna but they had rolled the RICE in to the roll. Didn't say anything because we were too hungry and just happy the food was out. Before we left I had left a comment drawing the sushi roll showing that it was half rolled with rice and said it was a disappointing experience. My bf tipped 15% and we were getting into the car when the sushi chef came out and said "thanks for this" and waived the note I had left them.. Then he said you don't like the food "DO NOT COME BACK" I was shocked and told him I wouldn't and left. What kind of place are they running here? I have worked as a server and worked with many sushi chefs before but I have never experienced such bad service.. If anything he should have told me to come back for a better experience next time. Horrible! Quality was very bad. The miso soup tasted extremely fishy. I couldn't eat it. My boyfriend ordered a chicken bowl which states comes with rice and vegetables. Next to the description there is a picture of a chicken bowl with carrots and broccoli; when he was served the bowl it had lettuce and dressing in place of the vegetables. We asked the waitress and she said the lettuce is the vegetables. Then she pointed to the back of the menu where it discloses (In fine print) that what is served may differ from the pictures. I though that was ridiculous. Then they charge you for hot sauce without disclosing that to you. Horrible experience. I would never go there again. read more

Do not come here unless you have 2 hours to spare. The service is really bad and super slow.... as if there were 30 hours in a day. My friend and I sat down and we ordered about 10 rolls. We patiently waited for our sushi, but it took forever. What pisses me off is that 2 people came in to order to go and they left within 20 minutes. The sushi is good for the price, however the service is pretty slow, even during the slow period of the day. There were two booths and one table filled when I walked in to order. Seven people in total eating at Sake Sushi. I had my TO GO order taken down and charged within three minutes of my arrival. The host told me it would be about 10 minutes. Someone walked in and ordered a to go order right after I did. 40 minutes pass by and she leaves with her order, and I've still got nothing. Keep in mind, those seven people dining in had already gone and left, and of course a couple more people came in to replace those seven. While the new batch of dine in customers had taken their seats, and were eating their appetizers, I was still waiting for my to go order that was now 50 minutes in the making. read more

I guess the economy really took a toll on this place. They raised their prices and the quality of the fish is no longer as good as before. It use to be 20% off of your entire bill, but now they put 20% of each item...which means that they can raise their prices to make you think you are getting a deal, but in reality you are actually paying more than before. I used to love this place. Me and my friends used to come here all the time because it's so cheap yet really good. However now I don't think I'm going back. Actually this is a Great little Sushi place for the money. It's a dollar a piece every day all day! The rolls are 20-30% off, they give nice portions and DON'T load up the rice. The service is friendly. My friends and I meet there for a quick cheap lunch and I order to-go often. You can eat well for under $15. However, I've ordered sashimi a few times and give them low grades on portions and value (not their strong suite). Over all I give this place 4 stars for big value, quality and effort. read more

This is my favorite Sushi spot! I go to Mt. SAC right across the street & it's so convenient & such a popular spot for college kids to grab some quality sushi. Their prices are great and you receive a good amount of pieces with each order. I always leave here happy and full. I recommend the baked salmon roll, baked lobster roll, and the deep fried California roll. The service can be a little slow at times but it's because it gets busy here. I love this place! When I used to go to Mt Sac, this was our after class hangout if we were low on funds. The Golden California Roll is amazing, it tastes like it was dipped in funnel cake batter and fried. Their Mango Sushi roll is great, as is mostly everything else on the menu. A quick place to catch some fish if you have the time and little extra cash i guess. I was craving sushi tonight and happy hour at another sushi restaurant had just ended. I then remember a sushi place nearby campus. The restaurant itself was cozy and quiet. It didn't get busy until after I left. Food: The fish was decent but nothing special. Some of the fish on my Nigiri and sashimi plate were still "icy". Other than that I guess it's not the worst sushi I've eaten. Service: Usually when you walk into a sushi restaurant you are greeted by the server(s) and sushi chef(s). When I walked in the sushi chef didn't even bother to look up. Service is pretty slow compared to what I'm used to. The server was in the kitchen most of the time. She did not refill our drinks when they were empty. Did not check up on us until AFTER we finished eating. I still left a decent tip regardless.. I would not go out of my way to come back here. However I will consider it if I am in the area and craving sushi again. read more
