My husband came here for lunch one day and liked it so much that he wanted me to check it out as well. I tried the Thai lemongrass soup per his recommendation and loved it, it had a nice spicy kick to it and a lot of flavor. It's probably one of the best soups I've had in a long time. Awful. We were encouraged by some of the reviews and the fact that the parking lot was packed on a Wednesday and ordered food to take home. We ordered a noodle dish which was mushy, tasteless. The red curry shrimp dish equally poor, shrimp was mushy, tasteless with very few vegetables. The calamari salad was awful. Steamed white rice was the best thing we ordered, how sad is that? Quite nice. We've been here a few times over the years during our annual Rehoboth vacations. Definitely, in our experience, one of the better Japanese restaurants here. Sushi is very good. Nice variety. Great flavors. They also offer some other non-Japanese dishes like pad thai. We got a bit of both. Our son (15) is a sushi aficionado. He also must remain gluten-free. The eel that Saketumi uses in their rolls is not pre-flavored. He was ecstatic since most restaurants get pre-flavored eel which normally has gluten in its ingredients. He was in puppy dog heaven, eating his eel rolls, a delicacy he hasn't been able to have in a very long time. Wait staff is very attentive. Atmosphere is quite upscale. Visited here this past week while on vacation in Rehoboth Beach, DE. The restaurant from the outside looked clean and classy. Inside was even nicer. We were seated immediately and the wait staff were knowledgeable about the food being served. The appetizer was delicious and the sashimi was very fresh. When the rolls of sushi arrived, they were neatly placed on a dish. It all tasted so good. Why only four stars? I felt that some of the prices were a bit outlandish. Perhaps that's the usual price of sushi and I'm obviously missing something. My total was well over $70. Good restaurant if you want to get away from the boardwalk and crowds. read more

It's not swarmed in the downtown Rehoboth crowd, but still offers quality and unique entrees and sushi of their own. (My favorites are the Volcano, Chesapeake, and Dynamite roll!) If you're not into sushi, there are many starters and entrees to pick from. (Try the Rock Shrimp Tempura or the Chicken Lettuce Wraps!) Came here on a whim over Labor day weekend for takeout while my boyfriend and I were down at Rehoboth. The guy working the front desk was super nice and answered all ohr questions about the menu. We got a sushi roll, dimsum platter, and the lettuce wrap. The chicken for the lettuce wrap was a bit oilier than i wouldve liked but it tasted great. Although the food was very good as well as the service I left this establishment with a blistering headache because at least two of the bar patrons had been overserved. Not our usual experience but then we have never been seated in the back room so this could be an everyday occurrence. Many folks at the bar seemed to have been there for a very long time and all were loud but the two cackling patrons won the day for loud and obnoxious. We went to Saketumi for lunch today. I had the Japanese Bento box. There was something hard (bone) in the shumai (Japanese dumpling with ground pork) and I nearly broke a tooth. The manager asked if I wanted more shumai and I said no. He said how about spring rolls and I agreed. Before he returned with the spring rolls I found a seed in my pomegranate spritzer - then when eating the steak that came with the box 2 pieces had so much gristle that it was inedible. When he came out with the spring rolls I told him forget about it and just give me the bill. He complained that he would have to throw them out. The shumai that my husband ordered never came out - but we were charged for it anyway. I just wanted to pay the bill get out of there. Under name the manager wrote "stupid customer". That was the tipping point. We walked out and will never return. read more

We came here for lunch and I thought the place was exactly what I expected it to be. We ordered the largest sushi platter that they had. Some of the fish was good and some of the fish was fishy. I'm not sure if this place has an off-season like the rest of the area but the fish wasn't the freshest. That being said we also didn't expect it to be the best sushi we've ever had. Today was my second experience and both times I was left disappointed. The focus of my review is their sushi rolls. First, many of their menu choices are just odd. Mozzarella in sushi - just wrong. Four specialty rolls that use kani - ie imitation crab stick - real sushi eaters don't eat. I know California rolls use imitation crab but that is sushi for 10 year olds. Fried calamari in sushi rolls also just wrong. Nonetheless we tried to focus on raw fish sushi rolls and found the choices limited. Tuna tuna surprise roll has something called goma sauce which i just found odd and unappealing. Dragon fly roll is basically shrimp tempura with fresh tuna - unfortunately the shrimp was flavorless and had zero crunch. Reminded me of supermarket sushi that was prepared 12 hours before you purchased it. The tropical mango roll was good but nothing special. The best roll we had was the Alaska roll - ie salmon with avocado - pedestrian by sushi standards but was also good. We also tried two Asian items. The shumai was weirdly spiced and off putting so don't recommend. The fried rice was overpowered with curry. I checked online and 99% plus of all recipes do not use curry - why? because this is not supposed to be an Indian dish, it's Asian and more specifically Chinese. The fried rice is actually terrible - I don't recommend. The seaweed salad however was a meal highlight and had great flavor and crunch. Have a Mai Tai drink - they made a nice cocktail. Overall the chef tries to be fancy and force combinations and spices that simply don't work. This coupled with the lack of appealing sushi roll choices will leave sushi eaters disappointed. I might go back in a pinch but will not be a regular until they revamp the menu / chef. read more
