I enjoyed the variety of food. I was there for lunch. I think the choices would increase for dinner.

Ask the Community - Sakura Buffet

For their lunch buffet, what exactly do they have in general? Is Sushi one of the options? I'm…

Yes! Lunch buffet has regular buffet options... fried rice, lo mein, chicken teriyaki, crab rangoon, pork dumplings, soup, salad, veggies, desert and ice cream, etc., but also a pretty large variety of sushi and nagiri and hibachi that all comes…

Do they have crab legs every day?

No for lunches, think maybe only dinner. They speak English so you can call.

Tuesday, Aug 25, hot as hades and with a reservation, we were escorted by many unoccupied tables outside and seated at the very last table. It was in full sun within 30 minutes and even with a fan blowing right on us, it was too hot to enjoy. They had to squeeze in one more table and clearly with no consideration for guest comfort. That table should not exist for summer late afternoon/ evening dining. Our seating ruined the whole experience.

Service was great from start to finish. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. She brought us champagne on the house for our anniversary which was very nice. She also helped get us a table in the bar area for after-dinner drinks even though it was packed in there. She went above and beyond. The foot was amazing! Usually I'm very underwhelmed by bao buns but these were the best ones I've had. They packed in enough flavor that the buns didn't mute everything (what usually happens). We also had the brisket fried rice which was great. I wanted the meat flavor to come through and stand out a little more from the rice but overall very good. But the miso black cod stole the show. Wow this dish was incredible. The fish absolutely melted in your mouth. I don't even know how they got that amazing texture and flavor on it. Also, awesome cocktails. Their signature cocktail was perfect for after dinner.

We were seated and had our drinks within a couple of minutes. The menu has a lot of choices, but we went with the long time favorite, spicy tuna roll and bento box lunches. The tuna roll was delicious and made fresh with quality ingredients. There is nothing worse than expecting fresh sushi and getting that slightly off tase. This was a good start to the bento boxes, which didn't disappoint. For starters we had the miso soup, which was better than many miso soups we've had in the past, it was very fresh and flavorful. The Mongolian beef and California roll were flavorful and the gyoza was crisp. Hubs liked the salmon and tuna roll that his bento box came with. They also offer a variety of sushi rolls, Asian grill entrees like NY steak and shrimp, or Nigiri/Sashimi which I always remind my husband not to order, since this never fills him up and he eats half of my dinner. His answer is he developed a taste when he was in Japan and it's now his favorite dish. In addition to all the tasty food, the restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere, the staff is friendly and helpful and this is a place that you look forward to visiting again.

My hubby ordered Nemo's Snapper Fish Tacos (2) priced at $18.95 and served with Caribbean rice, warm tortilla (Wheat or Corn) green cabbage, lime, queso fresco cheese, pickled onion condiments selection and creamy apple salad. I ordered their so-called specialty: the Nemo's Ultimate Miso Sea Bass--advertised as a "legendary signature dish served with a citrus-ginger butter sauce and asparagus." It arrived at my table practically frozen. After sending it back, I ordered the ginger steamed snapper, which was completely flavorless and tasted like cardboard. The only saving grace of the entire night was the service and the wine (a Txomin from the Basque Country). Save your time and money. Do not eat here.

Loved the scallop bowl, the chicken yakitori, and the orange roll. Seems overpriced but the portions are decently sized. The restaurant was empty aside from one other table. Entering the restaurant and taking a look behind the bar, we noticed a toaster oven and a microwave. We did not seem to notice an actual kitchen. We were seated immediately and we checked out the menu. Not your typical Japanese menu but, we are adventurous and we chose a couple of dishes to try. We both ordered a sprite. We were brought two glasses with ice and two, unopened cans of Sprite. Classy? For the cost of lunch for two here, I think not. Oddly, the restaurant does not give you free rein over your own soy sauce. Instead, they give you the little dish and they pour a little bit in it at the table then take it away. Interesting. We ordered the chicken yakitori appetizer. This comes as three skewers. Unfortunately, the cut of chicken they used was mostly fat globs and had a strange, chewy texture. $16. Not a fan. I ordered the sake salmon maki. It was made with brown rice and had little crunchy round bits on the top. It included a little ginger and about a dime-sized amount of wasabi. The sushi was good. Different, but tasty. But, $18 for a 6 piece roll. Lofty. My husband ordered the hon maguro tuna carpaccio. This dish is basically 8 thinly sliced pieces of tuna sashimi with a balsamic glaze drizzled over it. Good, but not worth almost $30. Again, way overpriced. The service was lacking and lazy, making us wait longer than necessary for our check and a little annoying by leaving us a business card clipped to our $100+ receipt. I don't know who is giving this restaurant high ratings but it is definitely not worth the cost or the quality of service. One and done.
