Honestly I don't understand the hype. Given location and area, I will say they have good sushi with a solid price. Are there much better places in Las Vegas, yes. My knock is we had a very large order. If only sushi I'd probably give a 3-4. But anything other than sushi is a joke. My photo is of the beef teriyaki, more expensive than pretty much every roll and the quality was terrible (giant plate of gristly beef). Somewhat appalled an establishment would sell this to someone and think "I bet they'll like this". Regardless of how good the sushi is, if a place is willing to sell beef like this, my concern is for the actual sushi itself and what they'd be willing to put on a plate for a customer. read more

I ordered doordash for the second time at this place and felt cheated both times. I ordered a lemon salmon roll and the French kiss tempura roll. Each costed about $13 each. The rolls were thin and barely had anything in them. If I wanted just salmon by itself I could have just ordered that. I also ordered cucumber salad and the dressing was watered down. Not sure if maybe they just didn't drain water from the cucumber. We prob won't be ordering from here again. For what they give they are expensive. As far as taste is concern it's mediocre in my opinion. read more

My husband is vegetarian and I do not like sushi - but we found ourselves at Sakura Ya the other day. Why you might ask? Because we have heard such amazing things about this place we had to try it out. They have a plethora of vegetarian rolls for my husband to eat (all of them were delicious) and there are other things on their menu that aren't sushi - I had the chicken teriyaki entrée and it was so savory and plentiful. We also had our two littles with us and they split the yakisoba noodles with vegetables. Sometimes it is hard to get them to eat when we are out but they were OBSESSED with the noodles. Thank goodness these dinner dishes were quite large or I would have had to order a second one. Our server was absolutely fantastic and attentive - especially when it comes to our children. She showed them how to use their chopsticks and also brought them little candies at the end. She really helped make the dining out process a lot more enjoyable - if you have kids then you know how hard it can sometimes be. Even though we are not big sushi people - when I want some teriyaki chicken and my husband wants more vegetarian sushi - this will be the place that we go hands down. read more

If you're in a hurry, do NOT go here. We reallllly wanted to love this place. Especially since it's a new(ish) sushi spot in the neighborhood. HOWEVER, aside from it being super busy Friday night, service was horrible. Place was extremely small. No biggie. Sat for 10 min before drink order. Decided to place our entire order at once as we could see they were entirely too short staffed. Sat another 15 min before water/drinks delivered. Took 30 min for warm gyoza to appear. It was okay. Finally, after 45 min my husbands chicken teriyaki was delivered with piping hot rice and miso soup. I took one bite of his chicken and it was cold. Literally. This was after my husband witnessed the wait staff going back and forth from delivering food to handling food over and over without EVER washing their hands. My husband can eat pretty much anything but this wasn't gonna cut it. The cold food was our breaking point. Paid them for the sake & gyoza and left. Maybe we'll try another day when not so busy? Who knows. Probably not. My husband is unforgiving with certain things. read more

Has a small dining area and you can order online and take out or get it delivered. Because I love Japanese food, I patronize this restaurant in the Smith's Market Place. It's a cozy little place. Food and service are good. The amount of the food you get is good for the price.

They have a great lunch special here and the portions are pretty generous in that you get a 3-course meal with their lunch specials (comes with miso soup and salad) with their entrees. We ordered their sushi lunch special and a bento box and were satisfied with what we ordered. The service was friendly and we will definitely return back to this location. I wouldn't say this is a top-notch quality Japanese restaurant, but if you want a quick fix and affordable place to go to for Japanese food - this would be it. read more

This is a great local place. When I am going for good food and not authenticity. The menu is tailored to Western tastes with a huge fried and cooked rolls selection. I have tried a few and while it tasted very good - it's not my "taste". The sashimi and raw sushi rolls are pretty fresh. And the staff here is really lovely. We like this place so much that many times we will head in before shopping at Smiths and pick up on the way home. read more
