My FAVORITE salad bar in Houston. I love being able to choose all my ingredients, but also have my salad prepared and tossed for me! I usually get the half kale and half salata salad mix, load it with veggies, a sprinkle of feta and get their awesome house dresing. Topped with baked tofu and a few croutons and BAM. Perfect salad. Its a tad pricey, but the serving is GIANT, plus you get free bread if thats your thing. Also great, helpful staff. read more

This salata has horrible service and horrible management. The manager is sooo mean to the workers and they look miserable. I gave this location a second chance and it failed my expectations again. Today the manager was paying lots of attention to this one customer. I went up there to ask for a bread Togo and he has the worse attitude and was going to charge me $1 for the bread which I was fine with but the other salatas just give it to you. April 23, 2018 I am amending my review of the Town Center Salata in Sugar Land due to the great response I got. I was contacted and told my feedback would be shared with the Sugar Land team. It must have been because the staff and manager were much more pleasant the last time I went. I now give them 5 stars for the improvement that was made. Great job! Previously, I had given Salata a 4 star rating, and wrote this: I work in Town Square, and I am vegan. So, having the option to go to Salata is very much appreciated. People complain about the price, but I get a large veggie salad with avocado for $9. That is totally reasonable in my view. If I were to buy all the ingredients in the salad and do all the work to make a salad, it would definitely work out to be worth $9. That said, I agree that the manager is rude and the staff does not look happy to be there. Today I was getting rung up, the manager rang me up and walked off. I didn't even get a receipt. I thought he was coming back. I asked a lady working near the register if she could see if he was done ringing me up. She looked at the computer and said, yup! God forbid you ever have to ask him for a to go container. I understand that things cost money and he doesn't want things wasted, but if I say I need a larger size than what they have out, I wish he would just give it to me without the nonverbal message that he really rather not. I make a point to smile at every one of the people making my salad. I say thank you. I say hi. Sometimes this gets a smile out of them. But why don't they start out smiling? I think the manager has a bad vibe and probably makes everyone that works there walk on eggshells. If servings are stingy, I bet it is because of him. It's actually pretty hard to get a good salad around here, especially one that isn't just a bunch of lettuce and croutons. I always get the spinach as my base leaf for a good dose of vitamins and then stack it with my other favorite veggies. They give a decent amount of protein as well and doubling up is only an extra dollar. Not bad for $8-$10. Great selection of veggies, meat, and sauces. The chipotle ranch and the Asian ginger are my favorites. Pita chips are a great free side too. Desserts are bland, cookies are over baked. Portion sizes have dropped a bit on the salads but still are alright for the price. Before, you could eat two meals with the salad. Some lighter eaters may still be able to do so. I am a weekly diner at Salatas all over Houston and actually live in the SL area, but after a few times at this location I will never go back and it's all because of the manager. I have never seen someone in the food service industry with a worse attitude and demeanor towards his staff and the customers. Two out of the three times I went there he was berating an employee right there at the counter (for probably giving out an extra pinch of lettuce...), I truly feel bad for his workers. It's a shame because all of the other Salata locations are very friendly and professionally run. Hopefully the manager will read Yelp someday and see the dozens of bad reviews he's got and change his ways! read more

I would say for a salata that's usually pretty darn busy, the employees here are really nice and do a good job of handling the rushes. The food usually is pretty good as well and I've never had any issues. I had the peach lemonade today and it had a funky taste, so that wasn't cool. Overall, if you need a quick healthy option, this salata does an okay job. read more

I go to Salata's all around Houston and this location is by far the worst. They skimp you on every section of the salad bar, esp the protein which seems ridiculous since they charge so much! This restaurant is not very inviting or friendly. I've been frequenting this location for a little while and they've gotten progressively worse. They skimp you on the selections. I came in recently and got a small salad with one selection of protein. The server took a small scoop of literally 4 pieces of chicken and put it in. I didn't say much except for when checking out, the manager, who always wears a black shirt, charged me for extra protein. I told him that wasn't the case but he said based on the portion and it was extra. Then proceeded to charge me $12 for a tiny salad. I was at my company's HQ in Sugar Land, and one of the higher ups said Salata was one of his favorite places. I stopped by hoping for a quick lunch, but the lack of parking and slow moving line dashed those dreams. I was impressed with all the choices, and I loved the selection of low cal dressings. I decided to make a southwestern style salad with black beans, jicama, corn, etc. At least a couple of the women working the line had a poor grasp of English which might have contributed to the slow line. A second cashier would help too. I really enjoyed huge salad and the surprisingly spicy chipotle bread, but I had to snarf it down quickly because of the slow service. read more

I like Salata. I like the concept, and hell, I'm not even a salad person. I'm more of a meat and potato type of guy, but I can get down with a well dressed salad. This Salata is in the middle of Town Center Square. There are only about three parking spots right in front of the store. (These are always full by the way. You might as well try and park in the garage and walk. And you might as well not even try to park on the first 4 levels, head on up to 5 for any open spots.) The first time I went, it was right at 12 o'clock. Lunch rush. I stood in line for 20 minutes for a salad. TWENTY minutes. Where are my priorities? The second time I went (after vowing to not to wait again) was again during lunch rush. I realize it gets busy, and I realize the people behind the counter can only go so fast - but both times it seemed that just ONE more employee back there would have sped things along. They also move at their own pace. A little urgency to get your paying customers in and out would probably benefit you. That said, the salad and toppings are all fresh and tasty. The dressings are all awesome as well. Side note: during rush hour this time, nearly half the tables were dirty. The other half were filled w/ diners. Where is everyone going to sit if you can't keep tables clean? Subtracting a couple of stars for parking, slow employees and dirty tables. read more

I love Salata and no matter what people say about salad places, this place definitely fills me up. Once you arrive, there is a long line of various parts of a salad that you can put. There are a variety of mixes of salad (I typically get the Salata mix) and you can go down the line and add as much as you want into your salad. Until you get into the proteins...everything does not cost extra so load up!! Add $2 for various proteins that they offer (I usually get buffalo chicken or chipotle chicken) WITH chicken, these salads cost $10 which might make you turn up an eyebrow on how expensive it is, but they load up on everything so much that the $10 price tag is actually a bargain. I've never eaten inside and honestly I may never, but it's always been clean and the staff is courteous. For the amount of salad you get, their prices are just right. I am digging this "customized salad". 3 different salad mixes and tons of toppings! They all looked fresh too. My salad was enormous. I chose the salata mix and romaine mixes. Then added cucumbers, radishes, tomatoes, eggs, some cheese, and pasta. I added the spicy chipotle chicken which reminded me of the chicken used at Chipotle. BTW most of the ingredients were in huge chunks, generous for portion but a little hard too eat. The herb vinaigrette was light and delicious but I think my breath was kicking for awhile. You honestly couldn't go wrong with any choices here. I was a little turned off at the price. A salad and drink will run $12. Not too bad but I could easily get a satisfying salad at Chipotle with protein for less than $10. Peach lemonade is sooooooooooooooooo good too. read more

I'm not a huge salad eater, but I love this concept! You can get as much as you want and just pay 8-10 dollars depending on which meat option you choose, not by the weight. We didn't eat inside or outside, the lunch crowd came in and Starbucks has a patio that is more in the sunlight, so we took our food across the street and had iced coffees with our wraps outside and people watched! :) It was a little pricey, but we both agreed everything tasted very fresh and had a punch of flavor! The lady manning the register (black, wearing Salata shirt), told me that they could only do "one or the other." Surprised, I asked "How does it take any more effort to pack half versus packing all of it to go?" She looked at my blankly, with no answer, and them stammered a typical "Institutional No" answer stating "Oh I don't know that's just what they tell us." The negative side is that the staff is unfriendly, and that's probably due to the manager or franchise owner who seems to micromanage them. No smiles, no greetings...they all act like they're doing you a favor by showing up. They are extremely stingy with certain toppings like fruits and cheese. There is a huge upcharge for proteins and they give you very little for the price. There are better salad options in Sugar Land Town Square. I am a strict vegetarian and I love all of their vegetarian protein options (3 types of beans, tofu, eggs, cheeses, etc) and the huge variety of vegetables they have.
