I really enjoy coming to this churro truck. Their churros are so fresh and delicious. I also order their fresas con crema which is also very delicious and the only place I like buying them from. The strawberries are always sweet and they put the right amount of everything on it. I usually order from them at Lorena and Whittier blvd. (Almost in front of the Lorena Pharmacy). When I asked what time do they arrive they said 430pm. There have been times i haven't seen them parked there at that time so if that's the case they usually have their cart stand and not the truck. Definitely worth coming here. I feel fortunate to live a few blocks away to be able to enjoy it. read more

Well, being that I drove into work today and it was a Monday, I remembered it's $1.00 tacos at Barragans on Sunset, so I invite my friend Sonia to join me. We go and throw the munch down on those delicious tacos and afterwards "she" tells me, "Hey, lets go get some churros for dessert." So we walk down to the corner of Echo Park & Sunset and low and behold, there is the churro truck. We walk up, order our yummy dessert treasures, that were made especially for us. I arrive home, and immediately take them out of the bag to photograph 'em. I eat one, and I must say, they were actually pretty decent. A light crispy crunch sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar on the outside, and a chewy goodness on the inside. It was perfect. If and when I'm in that neighborhood again, I'd definitely stop and get some again. From what my friend tells me, they're only there M-F and have apparently been situated at that corner for about five years. So whenever your in the hood, I say stop by and pick up a bag for now or later . . . I shared my churros with my daughter and friend, so I only got to eat two, wis I had ordered two bags . . . I raced back into the car and my bf and I immediately took a bite. Sure, it was fresh, hot, and sweet, but that was about it. Perhaps it was all the hype but it was nothing more than just any other churro. Yes, it's made fresh to order but when you look at it, it's literally dripping oil. Since my bf used to own a restaurant and knows the ins and outs of cooking, he said that the churro itself tasted like old grease being reused over and over again. Being in Los Angeles, it never gets truly cold. You may need a jacket or a hoodie now and again but we don't have the experience of chiseling frost off our car in the morning or slipping on ice and breaking our hips in our 20s or 30s. There is no doubt that the cold weather is a huge negative that brings several transplants to our fair city year after year. I have to wonder if those same people sometimes miss the certain comforts that come with cold weather like logs in the fireplace, hot apple cider and Bill Cosby sweaters. There are certain smells and tastes that become synonymous with the fall and winter for these people and unfortunately those tastes get co- opted by Starbucks with pumpkin spiced this and peppermint spiced that. We in California will never know the warm relief of hot cider in the icy blizzardy cold but those in the flyover states will never know the smell of fresh churros being fried up on the streets in nippy-oh-no-i-need-a-hoodie weather. The corner of Sunset and Echo Park always smells like baked cinnamon but something about the way it fills the air in the brrrrrr seasons is as magical as a Peanuts Christmas Special. The price is right and for a few bucks more you can dip your churro in delicious strawberries and cream. It is beginning to be that time of year again. He keeps his truck meticulously clean. Seriously, I have no idea how someone operating a deep fryer all day can keep counters that sparkly clean. Even the windows are spotless. The churros are made to order, so you wait a few minutes for your fresh batch - and it's worth it! I just got back from Spain and these are perfect for dipping in chocolate. Honestly, they are just as good as churros I had there - if not better, since I'm not dropping $1k on a plane ticket. But I had a bad experience, and here it goes: I had wandered down the street, excited for the Churro Truck (which is oddly absent on weekend evenings), and when I got to the truck, to my dismay, there was no one working it. Nobody home. There WAS, however a young looking guy talking to two younger looking girls nearby and they all glared at me when I walked up. The guy said to me, "can I help you?" As if to challenge my observation of them noticing me. And I just responded "Do you know if the guy here is working? Er, where he is?" The young man then circled the truck, entered and said "yeah, what do you want?" Okay, fine. Sure, he was probably about to have a lovely threesome with two middle-schoolers but how the hell was I supposed to know he worked there? Yes, Alex, this isn't Spago, this is a Churro Truck. But come on, aren't I the one giving you the money to support your business which attracts your clientele (aka, your two hot tamales)?
