I am so happy I finally made it to Sallie's Bistro in Dunedin. From the moment you walk in and are warmly greeted by Kieran, one of the owners, you feel like you are set to have a lovely dining experience. It's been on my list to try for a while since they opened. My Friend and Broker at Coastal Properties Group Forbes said it is wonderful and one of their favorites. And it's often mentioned on FB and Instagram for N Pinellas Foodies, Palm Harbor and Dunedin Happenings as well and I can see why. Small but well curated, Belgian beer selection. I had a refreshing white Belgian Ale the owner recommended. The Chef started us off with a yummy & balanced amuse-bouche of an apple and curry soup which was yummy surprise. My husband had Carbonnade a La Flamande with Frites - (Beef stewed in Belgian triple Ale & Callebaut dark chocolate). He called it a luscious Belgian Mole and it was so good he was basically licking the bowl surreptitiously and I couldn't blame him. The sauce Chef Michele creates is that good. And another Star Dish is their Fresh Mussels. They offer them with at least 4 or 5 options but all are steamed in the traditional style and so fresh! For mine, I chose the addition of Garlic, Fresh Parsley and a Touch of Cream. They were divine especially with those perfectly crisp imported Belgian Frites (french fries). Our friends tried a few items from their recently added steak menu as well. Overall a true gem and a must try for an upscale evening with elevated and fantastic food by a gracious and talented team. #EatLocal #YelpTampaBay

Outstanding! Service was impeccable and friendly with a nice intimate ambiance. We decided to order from the daily specials menu and were not disappointed! We received an amuse bouche of mushroom soup to start. Ordered the Cheese croquettes and they absolutely lived up to the hype, and not to be missed. My friend enjoyed the Bouillabaisse and I had the Boeff Bourguignon. Both had savory flavors and were plated beautifully. Our checks came delivered in cute boxes. We didn't save room for dessert this visit, but I will be back for sure.

A hidden gem in Duneden. If you want to try something different in food, this is the place to go. How many times can you say you have tried Belgian food. From the start (Mussels Croquettes) to the finish ( Fish Stew and Carbonade) everything was excellent. Everything is cooked and served by a husband and wife team who were nice enough to come talk to us after dinner. Prices are very fair for the quality of food served. Quiet quant dining room. Definitely worth a return visit to try some other dishes

Always delicious and very creative. It's Belgian cuisine with a flair for the exotic, and has an excellent wine list which matches their gourmet menu. This restaurant is a true "Mom & Pop" being run by two incredible people.

This was such a pleasant surprise! We travel a lot and this was probably one of the best meals we have ever had. This is a well kept secret--next to Walmart! The food is excellent, The chocolate cake is to die for! The service is impeccable and the ambiance very intimate. We will definitely be back!

Always a great meal We had another terrific dinner at Sallie's Bistro last week. Wednesday is their mussels night so if you're interested in having a huge bowl of luscious mussels and having a choice of six different sauces AND a free beer, call and reserve your table! You will not be disappointed. We were joined by friends from out of town, who thought their meal was delicious. Service is friendly and efficient. Their amuse-bouche was a small cup of soup and a crisp roll and butter beautifully presented. We started our meal with Sallie's shrimp croquettes, a favorite of ours that we always begin our meal with. Then we had baguettes with two different flavored butters. We all ordered mussels, distinguishing our individuality with different sauces and beer. Pomme frites and more bread to soak up the sauces was served. There is a regular menu and the owners offer special seasonal menus as well. Everything we've had on past visits was always delicious. We love this restaurant. It's somewhat hidden in the opposite corner of the Walmart shopping center on Main Street. Don't let this deter you. It's a real Belgium bistro. The husband and wife team, Michelle, the chef and Kieran, front of house are always welcoming. Treat yourself and go.

Ahhhmazing! Don't let the spot fool you. The food was spectacular! Been to a few small bistros in the area which are great but I think this IS my favorite spot. Had a vegetable broth, small toast prosciutto with other intricate ingredients as we waited and it was oh so tasty. Then I had the filet mignon recommended, it was so tender juicy full of flavor. My husband had the short rib it was also good he loved it. Not to mention that even short staffed the service was great. Chef Michelle also came out to greet everyone that night. FYI I reserved another dinner night for this weekend

Finding a great new place to eat close to home is alway great, but what about finding a place that is run by owner husband and wife that completely exceed your expectations! Chef Michele is beyond incredible. Probably one of the best chef's in Tampa Bay. Kirin is very welcoming, and makes great recommendations for pairing food and beverages. Great friendly staff. Every bite was like a tiny taste explosion. My taste buds were quite grateful. Definitely add this to your list of top restaurants in Tampa Bay!

One of my girlfriends heard about this restaurant and asked me to come along to try it and my goodness, it did not disappoint! I chose the Fall prix fixe menu with the wine pairings and I was truly blown away! Not only were the wine choices perfect with every dish, but every dish was delectable! My favorite item was the pumpkin bisque with bacon jam toast! Service was incredible and the ambiance, decor and lighting were gorgeous too. It has a 1920s glam feel. It's perfect for a romantic date night! Very excited to have this slice of Belgian heaven here in Dunedin and can't wait to come back for more!

We went during their soft opening phase, and the food was outstanding. Every dish was flavorful and service was on point. Usually at this stage, a restaurant is still working out the kinks, but everything was spectacular during my visit. I'm not sure how long these dishes will be on the menu, but the oyster mushroom bisque and the croquettes were incredibly flavorful, the cod was well seasoned and cooked, the caesar had great flavor with a somewhat lighter-feeling dressing, and the red beet panna cotta was astonishingly good. So pleased to have found Sallie's!

    Bay scallops pasta

My parents convinced me to get the mussels, and I never get the mussels (you normally have to request mussels with your reservation on open table in the notes, Wednesdays only, but they had extras due to a cancellation). I'm glad they did. They were phenomenal, the garlic & parsley flavor was prominent but not overwhelming. The mussels by themselves were delicious, so fresh (ordered the night before!), and the portion was enormous. One order could easily serve as a huge appetizer for 3-4 people. Plus, came with fries and a free beer. My parents also greatly enjoyed their dishes. Bay scallops and pasta for my mother, and a Belgian mixed seafood stew topped with cheese for my father. The pasta came with hearty chunks of mushrooms as well. The inside had a nice ambiance, dark ceiling and marble tiled floors. Gentle piano lounge music played the whole evening, and the other full tables gave a nice background murmur. Don't let the location fool you, you forget the outside world the moment you sit down. My only regret, is waiting until my last evening in town to come. I'll have to make an earlier reservation on my next trip so I might be able to come twice in one trip.

The weather wasn't the best and we had some time to kill, so we took the hour-and-a-half drive to St. Pete--and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. As soon as we stepped out of the car, the music alone set the tone for good vibes and a welcoming atmosphere. As we approached, there were a few people in line ahead of us, so we took our time looking over the menu. While we were deciding, you could hear the ding of DoorDash orders going off like crazy (definitely a good sign). When it was our turn to order, we were greeted by the owner and mastermind behind it all, Ray. Ray was very personable and outgoing, answering any questions we had and offering great suggestions. He was truly a jack of all trades and handled everything like a rockstar. While we waited, we sat at one of the wooden tables and chatted with other customers, who had nothing but great things to say. There was also a nice selection of drinks, ranging from soda and water to beer and even shots of tequila. To start, we ordered the Loaded Pulled Pork Fries. The pork was extremely tender and juicy, having been perfectly smoked for nine hours. It was served over a plethora of fries and topped with BBQ sauce and their house-made sauce. You definitely couldn't stop at just one bite--but we had to save room for more. First on our list was the famous Rapture Sandwich, which earned a solid five stars across the board. Made with shaved ribeye steak, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and Ubuntu's special house-made sauce on a pretzel bun, the flavors complemented one another perfectly. Unanimously, this was one of the best steak sandwiches we've ever had. Next up were the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Tenders, and OH MY--let me tell you! These tenders were chef's kiss. They were cooked to the perfect crispness, and the sauce was out of this world. I have never tasted garlic parm like this before. Honestly, this was one of my personal favorites. After that, we tried the Take a Bao sandwiches. You can choose between pork or dynamite chicken, and we went with the chicken. The bao buns were like biting into a cloud--they were unbelievably soft. The chicken was marinated flawlessly and topped with cilantro and black sesame seeds. Definitely a go-to item. Ubuntu also offers a variety of vegan options. The Impossible Empanadas were superb--you would never guess they were vegan. They were cooked to a golden brown, crispy, and full of flavor. If I didn't live in another state, I would have ordered one of everything on the menu to take home for everyone to try. I highly recommend making a stop at Ubuntu--trust me, you'll be glad you did. This place is truly off the charts! To the staff at Ubuntu, I wish you continued success and encourage you to keep striving for excellence.

When I sat at the bar I saw them pulling the food out of plastic containers in the fridge and warming it back up. The portions are small and the prices high, so come knowing that. That said, the food has always tasted good. The service was okay. My biggest issue, I tried to come eat here with my pre-teen kids once after a sports game they played and was asked multiple times if I was sure this was the place I wanted to come. Did they think I can't afford it? Did they not want my kids in the restaurant? And on that note, the food is not kid-friendly really.

My Brother lives in St Pete and takes our Mom to eat there or calls in for take-out at least 2-3 times per month. We arrived tonight (Thursday) around 7:45 PM to bypass the dinner rush. Walking in to be seated, I noticed several empty tables that had not yet been cleared with several people waiting outside to be seated. I was told "there will be at least a 10-15 minute wait, to give my name, and to wait outside." I thought maybe there were enough people waiting already to take up the empty tables, but that wasn't the case. We sat outside in the cold waiting and watching the guy stand at the bar doing nothing to help bus the empty tables, some of which were right by the window. After 15 minutes or more, we were finally called in last walking by the same uncleared tables, led to another table as the table cloth was being placed on it, no menus, no apology for the extra long (unnecessary) wait outside in the cold. When we finally placed our order, we waited some more. Finally our server said "there was a mix up and our order had not gone through." When Mom's favorite seared salmon finally arrived, it was dry and overcooked. I have never written a bad review on Yelp in my life. But, I hated to see my precious Mom & Brother treated this way.
