Very clean and inviting when I first walked in and greeted right away. One of the owners said they have been open at this location for 11 months. This is my first visit and it did not disappoint... Saloma's Panamanian Cuisine, a hidden gem in Fleming Island, offers authentic Panamanian dishes that are like a party in your mouth. The fish ceviche and Panamanian Platter are excellent choices for sharing, and the chicken soup is flavorful and rich. Save room for a cup of Cuban coffee and the homemade flan, which is delicious and rich but not too sweet. Be sure to ask about their homemade sauces, which add an extra layer of flavor to any dish. First visit we will be back! Excellent service- very attentive and thoughtful! I brought a collapsible bowl for my dog to have water & asked for 2 cups of water- server asked if it would be for our dog & brought out a large stainless steel bowl full of ice water! We sat at the table outside - Since we had a service dog (in training) they offered for us to sit inside but it was her first time at a restaurant so she is still learning how to sit near us at a table & we don't want to get in anyone's way. Cozy ambiance inside well kept mom & pop type hole-in-the-wall several tables and booths inside & 2 small tables outside. Fantastic food I had the roast chicken- it fell off the bone it was so tender & moist. I poured the kidney beans onto the rice & they were home style comfort food delicious! The other human had the pulled pork sandwich topped with pickled onions & he said it was fabulous! Reminded him of food and old friend once made. Well, I was hungry And didn't get a chance to take pictures of our entree but I had the lechonara with rice, red beans and sweet plantain, with chimichuree..... man, I ate it all lol!.... my wife had the roasted chicken with the same sides, she didn't finish it because of the quantity. My mom is from Panama and I wanted to treat her to food from back home. I was surprised that they weren't more packed because the food is amazing. Restaurant - It's tucked away in Fleming Island. Very beautifully decorated, with plenty of seating. Felt like home. Service - The owner was so nice and sweet and catered to our requests and questions. Some of the sides my mom asked for I didn't see on the menu. So if you're from Panama and you think of some of the typical foods, more than likely they have it. Food - We ordered a variety of food. Started with the variety of different appetizers. I may cook a lot of these at home, but it was great seeing the variety of chicken and steak and sauce options. I also love when I don't have to cook it. The food was full of flavor. We got very typical dishes that we miss and again very flavorful. Nothing was overwhelming. Finished with a brownie and Chicheme drink. Really good. It was a hike for me, but worth the drive and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend if you're wanting to try Caribbean/Hispanic dishes that are different than the usual offerings. Small business that I would keep going back to. read more

I would like to first say that this restaurant was empty upon our arrival ( which should have been a red flag) Lol. However, the place was very well decorated with beautiful Panamanian decor made by the native Sand Blast Indians, who are the indigenous people of Panamanian. The restaurant overall was very clean, with adequate seating to include a very nice coffee bar for additional seating. Most importantly the wait staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. Outside of all the above aforementioned, the food did not fare as well. I ordered the roasted pollo chicken which was very tender but to salty, white rice was dry, lentils were cold, and the yucca had been over fried. My wife order the chicken breast that was also salty and over cooked, along with the empanadas, and yucca that were frozen and deep fried. In addition, my daughter order the tenderloin platter that was tough as leather and couldn't be consumed. The price point was very high for so poorly prepared food. Salomas Panamanian Restaurant will not be on my list of favorite destations to go when I am hungry. I was very disappointed and will not be back, and will not recommend to my friends and family. read more

Knowing legit Panamaian food, it does not disappoint. They will be slowly expanding their menu as well. So far I've had the ceviche, Panamanian platter, cafe con leche, tortillas,hojaldres, kidney beans, salchica guisada and the chicheme. Every bite and sip has been outstanding! The fried pork dish Lechona de Féria was absolutely fantastic. Paired with traditional fried yuca or plantains with their traditional rice and lentils is truly worth a trip to try. Not only is this restaurant one I would recommend for anyone, but in Fleming Island it is a welcome different cuisine to experience locally. They have a menu of home style authentic dishes that I will be returning to try. Lastly, I would state that prices are absolutely reasonable, and to benefit and support a local small business is worth a trip to try them out. The food is not good the chicken was dry the beef was horrible I do not recommend. The yuca was so hard it could break ur teeth . The only thing was good was the rice. The lentils was cold . It took about 15 MINUTES to get the food and it was cold. Too pricey for the amount of food. I got an empanada he had mystery meat and it tasted frozen. Not much of a menu. I will not be going again. Monday afternoon is a quiet time at Salomas. I was greeted by GG and her son, Arturo. The menu may not be so easy to read for english speakers but the staff is very helpful. The music is contemporary but familiar, nice chill tracks that you can enjoy yourself to. I ordered the "Special Steak" churrasco with chimichurri served with two eggs on top cooked to order with fries. The steak was cooked beautifully and seasoned well. The eggs were cooked as I ordered them and were much more fresh than a lot of places can say. The chimichurri was the best I have ever had, I have made my own in the past and I have bought pre-made but neither came close. The fries were crispy and salty, slim cut just the way I like them. They are fast food style potato fries but yucca fries are also offered. The in-house habanero hot sauce is so flavorful but heed Arturo's warning, it is spicy. The flan is made slightly different here with caramel on top and bottom, a nice touch. Ice cream sundaes are also offered here with and without cake, I'll have to come back to try them. read more
