So let me start by saying I only get my hair straightened once a year so that I can get a professional trim. With that being said, this is the only place I trust to handle my hair. I'll start with the negative and end on a high. I booked my appointment with Yodit the owner. That's the only person I've ever booked with. Meaning the only person I've trusted for at least the trim portion of my hair. She's only available on certain days so I had to schedule my appointment even later than anticipated due to her limited availability. Well wouldn't you know when I arrive she isn't there?? Not only that, in a prior year (remember I only come once a year), they tried to give me to someone else when I booked with Yodit then too. So, I almost decided to leave when they said Yodit wasn't there but I already took time away from work. So I said a prayer for my tresses. Cause honestly... the women who do the initial shampoo and blowout do the heavy lifting... at least for my hair. On to the positive, Elsa did my wash, deep condition, blowout and initial flat iron. She did an amazing job! My hair is thick and is a real labor of love. The detangle was superb resulting in a great wash/massage. Heran did my trim and styled my hair. When they said Yodit wasn't there and that Heran would do my hair I stayed because I've seen Heran mentioned in positive Yelp reviews. Heran communicated how much would be trimmed and showed me before starting. Gotta love communication. I walked out with healthy hair and a happy face. So a win in the end. The salon is pricey but I'm willing to pay it cause I'm always happy with the end result. I'll be back next year, ideally with whomever I book. Quick notes about the salon: Masks are required Hands are given hand sanitizer upon entry Tips are given via digital apps Street metered parking There's a small step to enter, so I wouldn't label it "wheelchair accessible"

I went in for a cut and keratin treatment with Gayla. I am so satisfied with the results! Gayla took her time to talk me through each of the processes and was very responsive to my concerns. She is incredibly detail oriented and took her time to ensure I got exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be coming back for future services with Gayla!

This review is an update for their new location and covid precautions. I visited the salon in late July after a long hiatus due to covid. Their new location is two blocks north of their old salon ( directly across from the brand new Whole Foods). I was super impressed with their covid precautions. It was on the same level as my obgyn office. When you walk in they immediately give you a covid questionnaire. Masks are mandatory. I found most staff to have two masks on in addition to their face shield. Every station has hand sanitizer and they wipe down every chair after use. You can even pay ahead of time if you want to avoid checking out process. As always my hair felt healthy and beautiful and I was able to restock up on some shampoo and hair oil. Free parking was easy to find but I had an early morning appointment so I'm not what the situation is during the afternoon.

I'd absolutely suggest this salon and would recommend Heran! She is attentive to what style of cut I'm looking for but I also just trust her to do what I think is best. All of the staff is super sweet and my hair's health has started to improve since coming here. I usually sit under the steamer and do a hair mask. Prices are absolutely fair for the quality of cut you receive.

My go-to salon whenever I'm in DC! I've gone on two occasions with two different hair stylists and both times turned out amazingly. I have 3C curly hair, but I often straighten it. Both stylists have been very professional and taught me more about how to maintain/take care of my curls. Well, I hope to come back again the next time I need to color my hair!

BEFORE - last two-strand twist + twist out was about a year ago.

I feel like I just leveled up. I walked in thinking I would get a two-strand twist, but was lovingly guided towards what I really wanted. I twist my hair so that I can achieve the twist-out look, but I didn't know (and NONE of the 5 or so different stylists I've seen over the years of having natural hair have told me) that I had another option, right there in their seat. I'm so grateful for Dionne at Salon Revive for helping me figure out that I could achieve my hair goal more easily--without the hours of twisting and untwisting! She asked what I really liked about the twists and to show her the look I enjoyed afterwards. Taking that little bit of time to discuss what I really wanted helped her enlighten me with my options. And learning from her how my hair got so tangled in the first place (and that it really wasn't my fault because of the look I go for) helped me feel less shame about what I've been doing to my hair. People have asked if I cut it. No, it was just very tangled because I didn't know to comb it out after taking out my twists or twist out. Dionne detangled my hair, washed and moisturized it, trimmed it, and then gave me a natural curl, all in about 2.5 hours. SO grateful.

I got a treatment, trim, blow dry and flat iron style at Salon Revive in Washington, DC. Awesome experience.

AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE I recently moved to DC so naturally I was looking for a salon that would specialise in treating natural 4c hair. I have had bad experiences in the past where my hair was damaged to the point where I had to cut off all of my hair. I looked at the reviews of Salon Revive and decided - despite my concerns about a few reviews - that I would give this salon a try. I read so many wonderful things about one of the stylists, Lily, that I decided to just throw caution to the wind and go. The entire operation is very professional and the ladies are warm and kind. Lily was everything I had hoped for her to be - professional, sweet and very caring towards my hair. Make no mistake - these ladies care about haircare, not just styling your hair. I initially wanted to get a treatment and a rod set, but ended up getting a steam treatment (awesome experience), a trim (basic dusting), a blow dry (not damaging at all) and a flat iron. My hair came out beautiful. What I really enjoyed about Lily besides our conversations was that she showed me how to care for my hair. She even showed me that my hair can look amazing in wash n' gos. This was very helpful considering that I can't go to the salon every week. The salon uses Aveda products, which are very good. A bit pricey, but worth it. I bought an oil treatment that is amazing. I truly enjoyed this salon and I now consider it my salon in DC. I am grateful to all of the fine folks who commented positively about this salon and helped me to make my decision. If you're a naturalista, please book your appointment. You won't regret it.

I want to update my last review. (I'm giving five stars for customer service)I got a call today from the salon. They saw my review and wanted to right the wrong. In their defense, I never called back to complain, so I never really gave them a chance to address my problem. They invited me back to the salon as well as offered me a refund. to me this is huge because #1 they are returning the money that I spent for the haircut I was displeased with #2 by inviting me back, shows to me they stand by their quality of work and customer satisfaction I really appreciate this level customer service. In retrospect I recognize I really should have just contacted them and expressed my displeasure with the haircut

Holy. Sh-t. !!!!!!…read more I can't find enough superlatives to describe Enders and the Burrow team. Enders (in collaboration with Ryan) fixed my hot hot HOT mess of a "balayage" (for which I paid $$$$) basically on the fly, in a fraction of the time, at a small fraction of the cost. Jarrell at the front desk is amazing. More adjectives: cool, high-energy, positive, perfectionistic, artistic, welcoming, amazing playlist. Best salon by far in my 8 years in DC!! My only regret is not finding them sooner.

This was supposed to be a quick bang trim that turned into the worst haircut experience of my life…read more I went in for a trim and the stylist who cut my hair, Jen, made me extremely uncomfortable from the moment I sat down. First, I asked where I could put my bag down and she insisted it didn't matter and this would be quick and then was trying explaining how I wanted my bangs trimmed bc I want to grow them out and she was very dismissive about it and told me to relax and again, insisted that this would just be a super quick bang trim. I went to take my cardigan off bc I had waited around for a while and it got hot, and she said "whoa I didn't know you were going to get undressed." Generally, I felt rushed and thought that comment was weird but I tried to move past it, maybe she just a different sense of humor that's not for me but I don't really care, I just need a service done well, especially since I had to go to a wedding in 48 hours. But the part that bothered me the most was when she put the black cover around my neck, I went to move my hair from being caught under the black robe bc it feels uncomfortable for me, She literally said, word for word, "ma'am I need you to calm down. jeez people in this city are something else." I didn't know where she is from or what she thinks about people who live in this city but it is obviously very negative and was projected onto me. For context, my stylist was a white woman and I am a POC. FYI: People actually do have anxiety disorders and may need folks to be somewhat decent and welcoming in order to feel relaxed and not rushed in and out... I wouldn't have even cared about any of this if the haircut was good, but when I went home and brushed my hair properly it was literally cut at an awful uneven angle and Maybe they are nice if you're paying hundreds for a cut or color but they are not nice to folks going in for quick touch up services and apparently people in DC are "something else" so they already have preconceived notions about some of us I guess.

Over the past five years, I have regularly visited Japanese hair salons in Los Angeles, New York City, and Boston while traveling frequently. In those experiences, even when a haircut did not fully match my preferred style or length, the technical quality was consistently strong, and any adjustments were handled professionally. Unfortunately, this experience was very different. One of the defining characteristics of a Japanese haircut is the smoothness, softness, precision, and careful organization of the layers. In my case, the cut lacked those qualities and appeared uneven and poorly structured (the photo from the back). I was also disappointed by the salon's management. Based on my experience, the overall operation and quality control did not reflect the standards typically associated with Japanese salons. Update (May 2026): Over the past 4 years, I have been with my Japanese hair stylist in New York. I returned to the salon to see Keiko because I was hoping to find a long-term stylist in Washington, DC. I had not had my haircut for 7 months prior to that because I delivered a baby in December 2025. Ozuki appeared to be one of the few salons in the area offering Japanese hairstylists. Immediately after the appointment, the haircut looked good due to the styling and blow-dry. However, within a few days, the shape became difficult to manage and appeared increasingly unstructured. The photo on my ID, taken approximately three weeks after the haircut, reflects how the cut settled over time. In contrast, the Japanese haircuts I have received elsewhere typically maintain their shape and balance for several months. Despite my concerns, I scheduled another appointment six weeks after the first haircut with Keiko because I genuinely hoped the issues could be corrected and that I could establish a relationship with a local stylist. At the same time, I let the management know that my haircut had bad form and hope that it can be resolved at the second appointment. Unfortunately, my interactions with management, Liz, were once again disappointing. Rather than addressing the concerns constructively, the response left me with little confidence that the salon could deliver the level of quality I was seeking. This is the first Japanese salon where I have repeatedly had unsatisfactory experiences. Based on the consistency of those experiences, I am not convinced that the salon operates at the standard typically associated with Japanese hairstyling.
