Salsa Bravo We started out going to Fat Olive (a restaurant visited by Guy Fieri) but we were told that it would be an hour and a half wait ... so we drove on down the block to ... Salsa Bravo. A very pleasant Mexican restaurant which had also been visited by Guy Fieri, and like Fat Olive, had been given a well-deserved outstanding review. We were seated immediately in a booth. Our waitress (Arya) was most attentive, and full of energy. My wife ordered the Navajo Taco (with pickled onion). It was huge and very flavorful. (Also, a choice of Guy's). I ordered the 3-taco plate with deep fried taco shells and they also had pickled onion. I took a combination of pork and chicken. My plate was served with rice that was a little dry but I added some sour cream and red salsa and it was great. The chef makes everything fresh from scratch each day, and it shows. Three different sauces are served with your chips. Each with a unique and delicious flavor. We each ordered a margarita to go with our meal. I don't know what happened, but, the food has gone downhill. We ordered the Classic Carnitas Burrito and it was terrible. The pork had been so over cooked it had turned to tasteless mush. The refried beans were equally tasteless and the rice was crisp from drying out and old. The service is friendly and efficient, but the food is lacking. Here on vacation from Tx, so I know Mexican food. I will say I was pretty impressed. It was a little pricey, but all things in Flagstaff are. I got the Navajo Taco, what Guy ate, and it was delicious. It was about $20 but I only ate half the first time so it was two meals for me. Such a good place if you're wanting some good Mexican food in Flagstaff! My boyfriend and I set reservations for 7:30pm on a Thursday and were seated immediately, it wasn't too busy at the time. We ordered the "What Guy Ate" Stuffed Sopapilla and Peach & Habanero Carnitas Burrito. Both of the meats in the dishes--- smoked chicken and the braised slow roasted pork were amazing! The portion sizes were quite healthy, and we had plenty of salsa from our complimentary appetizer to pair with the dishes itself. The food was delicious! The only reason why it wasn't a five star review because service was a little lackluster and those who helped us seemed disingenuous. Much too full for a dessert but I would go if you are in the area! We also went to their sister restaurant, Fat Olive the next week because the food was that good! read more

What a disappointment. Found this place through Yelp and even waited 45 minutes to eat here. The staff was night but the food... I picked this place hoping to enjoy Chile Relleno and unfortunately it tasted pickled. I've never known an Anaheim Pepper to taste like that (Poblano is the traditional pepper used in this dish). I tried to eat the rice and beans but they were bland. I asked for some tortillas on the side and those were a 10/10! I got full off tortillas and deep fried ice cream. Hence giving the second star. When I told the waitress about the Chile Relleno, she asked if I wanted anything else and I ordered two tacos. Honestly they tasted like they were from Del Taco.. I took what was inside and put it in one of those amazing tortillas. However, when the bill came, I was disappointed to see they didn't take my Chile Relleno that I did not eat off the bill. Instead, they just removed three dollars for the inconvenience and charged for the tacos. I was prepared to be charged for the tacos, but not for the meal I didn't eat. If it wasn't for the tortillas and deep-fried ice cream, I would rate this one star. I would not recommend. read more

First, it's expensive. I ordered a two item lunch special, consisting of a burrito, enchilada, rice and beans. The menu didn't say "mimi" burrito.. it was the size of an egg roll. Seriously, I've had larger mimi burritos in a sampler platter. The say "fresh hand stretched tortillas... maybe, but this one was several days old, very dry. There were 3 salsas, my personal favorite was the green one which was a little bit sweeter than the other 2. The portion size for the entrees were not lacking at all! I ate here many years ago (pre-pandemic) and remembered liking it, so we made a point to try it again on this trip to Flag. Atmosphere was nice, restaurant and restroom were both clean. Our server was super friendly and helpful, although the staff bringing out the meals looked confused. We asked for an extra plate and were half way through our meal before it arrived. Sadly the food was just disappointing! We needed knives to cut through the tortillas because they were so tough. The beans and rice were very bland (so sad because these are Mexican restaurant staples!) My enchiladas were lackluster and I didn't finish because they just didn't taste that great. (Not worth the calories). And the price was high for the value received. Also, heads up: you will be charged $1.99 if you accept a second serving of chips. I'm sure this was on the menu somewhere, but I didn't see it. And actually don't mind because I know things are expensive these days, but being told would've been appreciated. Everything our family ordered was delicious and would absolutely order again! The service was fabulous, Emilee made sure we understood the menu, as it was our firat time visiting the restaurant. My husband I both enjoyed the elderberry mojitos. A unique twist on a regular favorite. She shared with us the first round of chips and 3 flavors of salsa were on the house. She described the flavors and checked if they were to our liking. The mild pico was delicious and fresh tasting. The medium tasting-red salsa was not over-powering and did not taste as though it was from a can. My husband's favorite was the spicier of the options. I had the roasted pork enchiladas, with the cream cilantro sauce at Emilee's recommendation. My 15 year old tried the chimichanga with the pork and the same sauce. I do not know who I need to pay for the recipe for this sauce, but WOW.... I am again drooling just in memory of it, so delicious! It paired so well with the tender pork. Our son ate the kids meal soft taco with rice and beans. My husband went the route of Peach Habeñero Carnitas, who is surprised. He felt the heat was not too much. It was "sweet but with a kick." Unfortunately, this NOT the same Salsa Brava prior to COVID. Don't know if COVID had any impact, but definitely not the same food. The first tell tale sign was that the restaurant was pretty empty at 4:30pm on a Saturday night! I made reservations at 5:30pm thinking it would be crowded as previously experienced and the wait would be long. Even after we completed our meal, the restaurant was pretty empty. Previously, everything was creative and flavorful! This pass Saturday, I ordered the Classic Carnitas. It was OK, very ordinary that's available at many Mexican restaurants. Also, the "all you can eat" salsa bar is GONE! I looked towards the wall for the awesome salsa bar and saw additional seats. I asked the waiter "is the salsa bar gone?" He said "yes", but I could order additional salsa as needed. All the different salsas is what made Salsa Brava... BRAVA!" Making it worse, an additional order of chips and trio salsa for the table incurred an additional charge of $5. Lastly, look for an additional 4% Flagstaff Service Charge on your bill. Not the Salsa Brava's charge, but something to consider. I will always remember Salsa Brava like it used to be. read more
