It seemed a bit pricey at $10.50, but the portion size (including side of rice and refried beans) is enough for two people to share. Skip the carne asada tacos that were $5 each. I was so excited for this opening. I drove past it every day and watched as the building got remodeled for the opening. I finally had the opportunity to try it yesterday and was really disappointed. I got the Capitan with asada, la baby with chorizo, and a barbacoa taco. I also had queso, which was probably the best thing on the menu, although the chips were too salty which is the opposite of most places! All the tacos were just bland. Not horrible, just not much flavor. I think my expectations were just too high. The corn tortillas were great but the flour tortillas were thin and just like the raw ones you get at the HEB refrigerated section. Very thin. We requested service and the waitress who served us was a person with no professional education and was negative. I asked a question that contained a dish on the menu and she answered that the The information was in the letter and I replied, "Can you tell me?" which made him angry and took the menu out of my hands. Then a guy named Alex appeared and aggressively took the other menu from my companion, which I complained about and he told me no. I was going to provide service, the situation became difficult and I was even pushed by a woman to leave the restaurant. Overall pretty impressed with this spot! Stopped in here randomly when driving down Guadalupe. Got the breakfast burrito (which they serve all day) with potato as my main filling and added asada. The burrito was super yummy and filling. Their salsas are also great to put in the burrito with the tomatillo and jalapeño ones being my favorite. The Pastor Molca Bowl was also very good, albeit not necessarily a bowl and more of a tray which you would normally be served fries in. Even though the serving size was a little disappointing, the flavors made up for it! Would definitely recommend stopping by. Came in looking for good chilaquiles near campus. Ordered horchata, chilaquiles with mushroom filling, and the barbacoa and chicken tacos. Horchata is good but has a tiny bit of cinnamon sediment, but it adds to the flavor. Chilaquiles are absolutely delicious, especially with a bit of red salsa added on top. My partner had the barbacoa and chicken tacos, which he liked quite a bit! They had 4 types of salsa, all solid and the spicy ones definitely packed a punch. They did forget the egg on my chilaquiles at first so they gave us free guac and chips! Horchata also had free refills! Their happy hour special looks great as well. Had a really great time. A group of my 8 friends sat comfortably outside on their patio. Their el captain tacos were amazing and their drinks too. The manager checked on us and was super nice. Just like the one in Dallas, this place was amazing and lived up to the hype! We enjoyed our tacos and I think I had the best chicken quesadilla I've ever had in my life. The margaritas were solid (not my favorite in town, but pretty good). The staff and ordering process was a bit unorganized but may just be new growing pains. The patio is super cute and shaded. Umm WOW! My boyfriend and I went to this place twice over the weekend after trying it for the first time because it was so delicious. I got the chicken tacos and he got the El Capitan tacos with chicken. The crispy cheese on the el capitan was insane (I tried a bite) and the chicken was marinated to perfection and not chewy at all (my biggest fear is chewy chicken...bleh!). Okay and the refried beans were some of the best I've ever had. The michelada was great and atmosphere was very relaxed and enjoyable (could have had better music though). PLUS! The second time we went we had to wait a little longer for our food and they gave us free queso and chips and were so attentive. Another highlight was the salsa bar. They have 4 housemade salsas that are made daily that you can self serve (my favorite is the hottest one, so amazing). Overall this might be one of my new go-tos in Austin. I try to visit Austin at least once a year, and I am always on the lookout for new, fun restaurants to explore. This place is in a great location, close to downtown and other pretty, walkable neighborhoods. The servers were enthusiastic and friendly, and helped me decide what to order. The wait time wasn't long at all and the seating was eclectic and comfortable. Very "Austin" vibe. The frozen margaritas were refreshing and delicious. I stayed classic with a burrito, but next time I'll be sure to check out the El Capitan, or the all day breakfast. This place is the real deal, food-wise and in all other ways. Austin has a bunch of taco places but none of them are as authentic as this one. The decor is so thought out, every detail makes being in there just feel nice. Our table got an assortment of tacos and salsas, along with a pitcher of margaritas. The Jalapeno and the Piquin salsas were both fantastic, the Jalapeno being the shining star (IMHO).
