I make a point to never write negative reviews, but I will make an exception. I went through the drive through and asked for a nacho grande with chicken (don't know if that is actually the name it goes by). Waitress seemed to know what I meant. It was over $14 with tax. I got handed a bag and thought it felt very light. When I got back to work and opened it, I was stunned by how small the portion was and how awful it looked. The two guys I worked with both looked at it and said "Take that sh-- back". It was about two small handfuls of chips......something that passed for cheese but was really, really, really watered down, and about 10 pieces the size of m & m's of chicken. I am not even exaggerating; it was that bad. (I asked for no peppers, so not sure if that was part of it or not). I think the restaurant should have been embarassed to serve me this food. It honestly looked like someone had already picked through it and eaten the good stuff and this was the left over food. I work within a half a block of this place and always eat out--but will never eat there again. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Salsa Verde in East Tucson, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. As a fan of their famous bacon-wrapped burrito, I was thrilled to see the evolution of their establishment into a sit-down restaurant. From the moment we called to make reservations and spoke with Bresa, the service was top-notch. Bresa not only helped secure us a table for our large group but also provided attentive and friendly service throughout our meal. The food, as always, was consistently delicious, and it's clear that they've maintained the quality that has made them a staple in the Tucson culinary scene. While I was slightly disappointed by the limited options for their Taco Tuesday special on the new menu, it was a minor setback in an otherwise fantastic dining experience. So I had to stop in this week They have an outstanding salsa bar their environment is great even though it was a little chilly they have beautiful frames on the walls. The restaurant was nice and clean. The young lady who helped us was very helpful she recommended the crispy tacos let me tell you they were the best ones I have ever tried in my entire life ! The beans were amazing I did substitute for charro beans. Overall the food is fairly consistent and is comparable to Filiberto's or other taco shop restaurants. The menu is dizzzyingly complex with some stores offering specialty items I don't see elsewhere (tamales, menudo, posole, albondigas), but the service at some is horrific and as a result I won't return to them. Specifically, the Nico's at Continental Ranch, is terrible which given the fact that there are at least two Filiberto's and as many as five or six other Mexican food venues within 3 miles makes it surprising. Regardless, my issues are that they tack on high percentage credit card pricing per item on their already high prices, which is not explained very well other than a small sign at the register. Their service is caustic, snide and insulting. I will not go back to that location, and am not ever going out of my way to have Nicos from any location in the future.
