I had The Rivera, a mushroom, spinach & Brie omelette that was fluffy & perfectly cooked. It came with fresh fruit & a shot of beet & carrot juice. My orange juice was obviously freshly squeezed. We are regulars. We love eating there because the food is delicious and it's quiet and clean. Leo is an amazing person as well.

Our party of 7 was seated right away for lunch. The restaurant isn't huge, but it's decorated nicely and is comfortable. I'm glad to know it's there, as I didn't realize it before. I ordered the chicken topopo with a few special requests to meet some dietary needs, which they were happy to do. Our server was friendly and efficient. On the positive the waitress was friendly. The colorful table and chairs are nice. The food was bland. I had a chicken chimi which came with beans, and a bit of lettuce, no cheese. Nice cozy little place. Unfortunately the food was bland. I ordered Leo's enchiladas which looked good but had little flavor. I would have ordered a second beer to finish but once the food was delivered service disappeared. Beans were ok but no cheese. I ate lunch at Leo's today with a few friends. Quite frankly, I was VERY disappointed. I ordered a chicken a Chicken Quesadilla with a side of rice. The quesadilla came by itself on a plate. Usually, when I go to a Mexican/Hispanic Restaurant and order a quesadilla it also comes with a small dish of guacamole, a small dish of salsa and a small dish of sour cream. There was very little chicken and a lot of Cheese and it was extremely greasy. The side of rice was luke warm, if that. The waitress serving us-the only one- was friendly and smiled a lot. Our water glasses were never refilled--which is something I get at a pizza place. The restaurant was clean and done quite nicely. This place is a hidden gem! They just remodeled the dining room and it is beautiful. Leo, Maria and all the Staff are very friendly and after just 2-3 visits, they treat you like family. Food is great, I've tried most of the items on their menu and have not found one I would not recommend, all have been great and portion sizes are generous. Their Salsa is perfect with their chips, not bland tomato paste like many restaurants, with a little bit of a bite, but not too hot and with a perfect flavor. Margaritas are great; the large size isn't shown on the menu, but just ask for it Large (very well priced). The cost of the food is also very appropriate. I take all visitors here at least once. I went here to join in a friends birthday party. Its not a huge place. The staff was friendly and joked with the patrons. We all ordered something different. The cheese crisp was super yummy--but, how can you go wrong with a cheese crisp!! I ordered flautas. They were not like the ones at my favorite mexican restaurant--but they were "ok". Later upon getting home, I proceeded to be sick to my stomach. Nobody else had this issue--so am guessing it was just maybe an issue with the beef in mine, maybe it was just something with the beef. I have heard great things about their specialty plates--so I will be trying that next time I go. A patron did report that the womens bathroom toilet was backed up. I had dinner here tonight with four friends. I had the Combination Plate #9 ($14.95), which included a chile relleno, carne seca, two large tortillas, rice and beans. There were also the usual bowls of chips and salsa. The chile relleno was a lot spicier than most are. The tortillas were very good. I liked the salsa. The rice, beans and carne seca were unexceptional. Overall, it was a pretty good meal. Service was OK. As for ambiance, there isn't any. Leo's is a small place, but it's graced by Leo himself, who is absolutely charming! The food is excellent! I haven't found anything there that wasn't absolutely delicious, and their margaritas are the very best! The waitress remembers us when we go there about every six+ months! My wife and I had lunch at Leo's because I and some fellow employee's used to have lunch there occasionally in the early 2000's when i worked nearby. It was like stepping back into a delightful time capsule for some of the best burros we ever had. The place was just as I remembered it complete with the little lunch and dinner menus and the plastic glasses for drinks. It is still run by the family and probably one of the best authentic Mexican food restaurants in Tucson. The prices were in line with other places and the staff is still so cheerful and friendly. You definitely would not know it walking up to the restaurant but this place is fantastic, and delicious. I ordered a chimichanga and my partner ordered a combination plate with a beef tamale, two tacos and enchilada. When I asked for my chimi to have half carne seca half chicken I got a puzzled stare. While I was surprised this was a new request, the waitress, who was so nice throughout the meal, was willing to move forward with the order with a warning there may be an additional charge. Given the extremely reasonable prices here, no worries. When the food came out I got my order and it was perfect. The mix between the flavorful carne and moist chicken set my taste buds on fire. However, warning, I tried the enchalada sauce from the plate across from me and now know you must get this on your chimi or burrito. I also am now curious about the sour cream sauce. The beef tacos were pretty standard and wish they would make them street with patties and an additional fry. Still good. Enchalada is what you want and tamale is icing on the combo. Oh wait, beans are on point and rice is cooked just right. This will be my mid town Mexican food spot and do not mind the "gentleman's" club next door because thankfully they are currently not open (and one good thing about covid is they will hopefully go under). If they do ever reopen just park near the Rosemont and easily avoid any potential rif raf. Highly recommend and so appreciate the wonderful lunch (they have specials too)! read more

This is one place I have definitely overlooked in the last few years. I'd been here years ago but it fell off my radar for the longest time... I may have even just assumed they had closed. Then a co-worker, who used to work close to Leo's, suggested we should get food from here. Now here's where I'm going to be completely honest. With a lot of good Mexican food in Tucson, Leo's is far from the best. Don't get me wrong... the food is fresh, authentic, unpretentious and still tasty. HOWEVER my appreciation for this place is in the people... namely Leo himself. Last time I picked up food he, himself, was working the front. We chatted a bit and I found out some about the history of his restaurant. He's been in business for 38 years so he is definitely doing something right. I probably wouldn't venture back to Leo's unless I was pretty hungry. I went during lunch during the week. They weren't exceptionally busy, just a few scattered people, but it took over 15 minutes for our food to come - not good when you have to get back to work! The chips and salsa were tasty, spicy sauce and our chips and salsa were replaced, but this was not a good omen of things to come unfortunately. I ordered the lunch special chicken enchiladas, the beans were good, but the rice, was bland, and the enchiladas had a very plain sauce that tasted like it came from a can. Absolutely the best Mexican food in Tucson. We (my wife and family) have been coming here for years. Ask for the "Blanco y Negro" for a special treat. Wife and I were looking for a new place to try and saw a couple reviews for Leos Mexican food. It's in a little strip mall behind a MetroPCS hand hey row of auto repair places next to it. I was a little leery simply because of appearance plus it looks like more of a bar from the outside. We were greeted immediately extremely friendly staff and a very nice simple interior restaurant. We have gone there twice since and both times have been fantastic. It appears to be completely a family affair The Waitresses extremely friendly and remembered us from our first visit. Shredded beef chimichanga and chicken with white sauce enchiladas are out of this world. Only thing that ... And it could be me ... is the salsa although very tasty was a different heat each time and I like Heat Give it a try you won't be disappointed. read more

The food at Leo's was decent, and the service was good. The salsa served with fresh tortilla chips had a nice kick. We also tried the guacamole, which was a little on the bland side. My partner had the chicken enchiladas for his entree. The portion was large and somewhat heavy on the cheese sauce, though the enchiladas themselves were very flavorful. I had the green corn tamales, which had a nice texture, although I was not a fan of the accompanying sauce. The staff was attentive without being overbearing.
