First time visit to Salt+Smoke restaurant, and brought family from out of town. Way to represent, St Louis! We joined the waitlist online and headed to the restaurant when our approximate wait time ended. Easy peasy! Tidy and charming dining area, not too visually busy. It was full when we dined late Saturday night, but our wait time after ordering was surprisingly fast! We were all extremely pleased and full with our brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. My sister's salmon sandwich was equally awesome and flavorful! Our sides - Mac and cheese, green beans, potato salad, and pit beans - were excellent. The Mac cheese was good, but lacked depth. (A little smoked Gouda might do the trick.) All told, I love this place. It's comfort food, like bbq should be, without a ton of fuss. Theres so much more to try on this menu: of course I'm going back.
In town for a volleyball tournament, we had a "parents' night out" and decided to grab some BBQ. One of the top recommendations we received was Salt + Smoke, so we gave it a try. We arrived around 4:30, and there were plenty of seats, but the place quickly filled up as the evening went on. Our waiter was very patient with our large group and offered helpful suggestions whenever we asked, which made the experience even better. I ordered the walnut Old Fashioned special along with the three-meat platter. The drink was solid, and the portions were generous. The brisket was tender and flavorful, the wings were large with a great smoky taste, and the fried jalapeno + cheddar bologna --while a bit different--was surprisingly delicious. For sides, I had the potato salad and mac and cheese, and both were excellent. Overall, a great spot with good food, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you're in St. Louis!
I had much much better BBQ in St.Louis before so compared to that this place was a bit of a disappointment. The food looks very good and the portions are quite generous for a great price, but the flavor profiles were either lacking or just not meshing with my taste buds. Outside of the food, the location and vibes are good and great for a nice casual dinner. Our server was very nice and helpful in making selections. Unfortunately, I just wasn't the biggest fan of the food.
Salt + Smoke was a super solid place to get BBQ. Since I already had ribs the day before, I wanted to try other BBQ items. I was not disappointed. The BBQ bologna was super unique. Loved how the edges got crispy and smoky. The bologna was also unique in that it was studded with jalapeño and cheddar cheese, adding an additional layer of flavor. The smoked wings were solid as well, but they were a little dry. However, I was blown away by the side dishes. They were some of the most unique sides I've had at a BBQ restaurant! Loved the Yorkshire Pudding/popover and the Mac n Cheese with the Ritz Cracker crumble on top. That made the crust so buttery and crunchy compared to the creamy noodles and cheese. Absolutely stunning sides I've dishes. Service was awesome, with super friendly staff and the ambiance was what you would want to see in a BBQ restaurant, one that is slightly quirky but also historical. All in all, another great place for BBQ in St. Louis! :)
Wow, wow, wow! There's nowhere else to start with the description for this place. From the start of my arrival I was seated quickly, water brought right out and overall service was solid throughout. I ordered the combo plate with brisket, wings, Mac and cheese and the pit beans. Let me start with the wings and beans. Both of these items were the best I've ever had in their respective categories. Best wings ever! They were smoked in their dry rub which seemed like it was a cinnamon BBQ rub if I were to take a guess and they were incredible. The beans, were filled with meat and almost had more meat than bean and it was smoky, savory and incredible. I think I went to heaven for a moment when I ate these. Everything else was very solid and respectable. Good brisket, wasn't dry, but wasn't the best either, popover was a nice touch, and the Mac and cheese was wonderful and unique with a cracker crust. I'm not often in St Louis but next time I am, I will be coming back. 5/5
Another four years have passed since I've stepped foot into Salt + Smoke on Delmar Blvd., but happy to see, and taste, it's just as good in 2026 as it was in 2022! A coworker and I Uber'd over around 6pm on a Monday and were quickly seated at a table in towards the front of the restaurant. Our waitress came over with menus and water and gave us a few minutes to peruse the menu. Our waitress was friendly, she had a cool, subdued vibe. Once the two of us had beer in hand, we placed our dinner orders and sat back and caught up for a bit. It took maybe 10-15 minutes and our meals were brought over, pretty speedy service! For dinner, I ordered two meats "Bestie Combo", going with brisket and pulled chicken and for my sides I went with the sweet pepper potato salad and white cheddar cracker mac, served with their signature bacon & cheddar popover. The brisket was so tender and full of flavor and the pulled chicken had a nice black pepper spice to it. Of course, I had to dip everything and of the four main sauces at Salt + Smoke, I like their "My Sweet Bestie" and "Mustarolina" the best. What more can be said about their white cheddar cracker mac - This is so cheesy, creamy and I absolutely love the Ritz-like crackers crumbled on top. The surprise of my meal was how excellent the sweet pepper potato salad was! The flavor was wonderful and had a pleasant zesty-ness, and had a nice creaminess to it as well - I wish the bowl it came in was bigger, I wanted more of it! And to round out the meal, the bacon and cheddar popover was the perfect "mechanism" to mop up anything left on my plate. When it comes to pricing, for BBQ, I thought it seemed pretty in-line for what the year 2026 is, so it may be pricier but for the quality, it's fair, to me at least. Salt + Smoke is a "must stop at" restaurant for me whenever I come through St. Louis! Over the last four years, I've seen a few more locations pop up in St. Louis, but I sit in the camp that the Delmar Blvd. spot is the best. My Salt + Smoke craving has been satiated for now, but I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
Regular portions, tasty food, and amazing service. We came on a moderately noisy Monday afternoon. We ordered the 4 meat bestie combo and the 3 meat bestie combo(with both, you can choose 2 sides and a corresponding amount of meat, or types of meat.) the brisket was drier than I would like but it was very flavorful. With sauce, it was amazing! The ribs were smaller than I would like but also very flavorful and extremely tender. Most of the sides were alright, but the beef fat fries were outstandingly good and flavorful. For dessert, we had the gooey lemon pie. The blueberry compote was my favorite. The service was top notch and our waiter refilled our waters constantly and provided us with recommendations. Overall, the food was excellent although it was a little pricey.
This place is always a winner for my vegetarian food and my meat eating husbands favorite! We were unfortunately staying at the hospital early in the year and they were one of the best options to order delivery from- and let me tell you- when you have this as an option you ALWAYS take it! Service with a smile and plenty of space to feel welcome!
When you are in the Delmar Loop area,you immediately smell the BBQ in the air from Salt + Smoke. This is their original location and they now have multiple locations thru out the St. Louis area. This location is always busy but we were lucky enough to get seated immediately on a Sunday night. They have a gluten free menu which is always a plus but we were in the mood for just a few appetizers. We started with the Deviled eggs with Bacon which were fantastic and an order of Cherry Smoked wings with Sweet Trashed sauce. The wings were meaty and juicy and the BBQ sauce was so good we ended up buying a bottle to take home. Their menu is extensive offering salads,sandwiches,plates of BBQ and dessert. They have a nice selection of crafted beers and bourbons as well. If you want good St. Louis BBQ,this is definitely a place worth visiting.
Salt + Smoke absolutely delivered on every level. The food was phenomenal perfectly smoked burger, sides that tasted homemade, and portions that leave you more than satisfied. Everything had so much flavor, and you can tell real care goes into every dish. I tried the falafel burger with brioche bun. Our server, Austin, made the experience even better. He was attentive without being overbearing, had great recommendations, and made us feel truly welcome. The ambiance was spot-on too, comfortable, and the kind of place you can relax with friends or family while still enjoying a top-notch meal. If you're craving BBQ done right with fantastic service, Salt + Smoke is the place. We'll definitely be back!

Great service! Our waitress was super nice and helped us with some appetizers recommendations. We ordered the burnt ends toasted ravioli, 3 meat combo (fatty brisket, pulled pork, ribs) with sides of fries, potato salad, mac n cheese, and creamed corn. I loved the popover that came with it. We made lunch reservations for four on a Friday. Were welcomed with a smile, and seated immediately at a table for six. Very casual. It wasn't crowded on this day, so it was easy to chat without yelling, which was great. Colin was our attentive server. He and the manager checked in on us periodically. My companion ordered the half plate of dried ribs which was thoroughly enjoyed. The meat was smokey, flavorful and tender. My half Kale Crunch Salad was terrific. Beautifully plated too. Bright, clean, inviting restaurant. We got a table on a Friday night at 5:30 with no wait, but by the time we left at 6:30, it was packed. Service was excellent -- seriously excellent! Server was super friendly, quick, had recommendations for us, and was really pleasant. My husband and I shared the Pick 4 Combo platter with the fried jalapeño cheddar bologna, two 4-bone racks of St. Louis ribs, and the smoked wings. Every single meat was TOP notch, and bologna was really unique and spicy. We loved the wings!! They were all drums, not sure if every order is like that or not, but they were smoked perfectly. I can't say enough about the ribs; needless to say, they lived up to the St. Louis rib namesake. As far as the sides, we loved the baked beans, the macaroni was mid-grade, not enough cheese, and the "pop-over" was interesting. We've never had one, not sure if we liked it or not? The crusty outside was tasty, but the cold, doughy inside wasn't the best. As for the sauces offered here, we tried all 4 and would use all 4 again! Came in on a Friday morning soon after they opened. Quick service, and I enjoyed the food, but while the meat was warm, it wasn't piping hot, which I know is an issue for a lot of people. The popover was fine, nothing special. The potato salad and chicken were also fine, they met my expectations. I tried a couple of sauces, but the "bestie" one was the best option on the table. The Mac and cheese was actually quite good, I would put it as the star of my meal. I also had an old fashioned and I appreciate that they had one of the giant ice cubes in it. Overall, if you're looking for BBQ and you're in the area, it's not a bad spot. There just isn't anything that wowed me, which is the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. read more

Holy hell. Stayed in St. Louis for the night. I really want some good barbecue and this little place really serves it up. Well everyone in this place was so nice to us and for how much food you get for the price it's unbeatable the trash ribs are to die for as well as their coleslaw. Also, their mac & cheese. This restaurant is in a great location in the loop but unfortunately its all street parking. The inside is spacious enough to have a range of seating from romantic nooks to being comfortable enough for big groups. We were seated promptly as we had queued ourselves on the waitlist. However at that late at night, it didnt seem to have a wait time for a table. Our server answered our questions and let us know that she could replace any drink or food, if we happened to not like our choice. For drinks I had the baconator and my husband had the modern citrapolis. Great drinks! For our dinner, I ordered the brisket sandwich, my husband ordered the 2 combo of ribs and brisket and my son had the BLT. The brisket sandwich was so good with the sauce and fatty+juicy brisket. My only complaint would be that the meat quantity looked very sparse in the sandwich. The combo plate with ribs and brisket were amazing - I loved the ribs - nicely smoky, crunchy bark and still tender inside. My kids enjoyed their BLT and kids cheeseburger. My side of popover wasnt as impressive as I thought it would be...little gummy on the inside. Nonetheless, its worth a visit for the star of the restaurant - the ribs, brisket and drinks! read more

We always have a good time at the Salt + Smoke in the Loop! There are times it gets VERY packed and busy but we have been seated very quickly every time we've gone. Our servers were very nice and helpful. The decor is very cohesive with the southern theme and had some fun pieces scattered around the restaurant. The restaurant is family friendly as well. Food was good as always. We have always gotten the plates but tried the sandwiches this time and were so happy we did. They were delicious and filling. We liked everything we ordered. Lunch time and in Saint Louis, that means barbecue. I arrived at Salt + Smoke to a warm greeting and immediate seating at a table. My waiter was friendly and helpful, not rushing and providing recommendations. I chose the deviled eggs to start and the brisket sandwich for main. The eggs were delicious. Three halves each with a small slice of candied bacon and stuck to the plate with a small dollop of pimento cheese. A perfect starter. My sandwich arrived shortly after. The meat was perfectly tender, moist and flavorful. Yes, I did eat the bun but with that spicy cheese spread, how could I not? The slaw was great though a little sweet. Man, the burger at this place was exceptional! So many flavors, so many textures. They put their foot in that burger. The sides though, they were okay, it seems to be the typical thing in this area that sides at any restaurant somewhat lack flavor. The mac and cheese looks like it's supposed to have a crunch but doesn't. The potato salad was just... hmmm, speechless but not in a good way. We did have the fried chicken skins which I feel like shouldn't be on the menu at all. They tasted like they had been sitting for weeks and they were honestly over cooked. Their sauces are pretty good. The service was very great though! Our server was on point, fresh drinks every time they were needed, the food came out very fast was but hot. The restaurant itself is in the towns center(I believe) so you're able to people watch and it's a pretty busy area. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Inside is a typical restaurant, nothing too fancy. I will say though, we were seated directly by the kitchen/service doors and that was pretty annoying to have people standing around you the entire time. That's probably why our waiter was so attentive because he passed by us every minute. The 4 starts comes solely from that burger. If I had to live off of a burger for the rest of my life, I'd chose this one. read more
My wife and I were on a long weekend in St. Louis and were near the free zoo, which is really cool and we saw on Yelp that Salt and Smoke got good reviews. The place is located on the St. Louis Walk of Fame, which has more stars than I knew that were from St. Louis. We came in around noon and it was pretty empty, but I ordered an IPA tap and a pulled pork dish. I got the beans on the side. They had 3 or 4 types of sauces you could try, I really liked them all. Mustard was my favorite. The pork was good, but the beans were some of the best I have ever tried. They were super creamy and flavorful! We went to the Salt and Smoke by Busch Stadium, and these ones were just hands down, the best in the city, out of the 5 BBQ places I tried. I ordered another IPA and the service was fantastic! This place was fun. We put our names in and grabbed a quick drink across the street to stay warm cuz there was no room inside. But before we knew it, our table was ready. Our waitress was friendly and upbeat. She knew the menu well and gave some suggestions for us first timers. I ordered brisket - burnt ends and fatty. Also had fries, green beans and tomatoes, and potato salad to go with it. My friends also got the deep fried pickles, and hush puppies. Our order came out pretty quick. The food was delicious! All of the sauces were good, but I mixed the sweet w/ spicy for a kick. Portions were plenty for leftovers the next day. Street parking was easy. I'll definitely visit again. Loved the outdoor atmosphere and the meats were pretty stellar. Not usually a fan of fried bologna, but theirs had cheddar cheese & jalapeño, which was great. Beans and creamed corn were okay. Pulled pork and brisket were also tasty. Sauces were lackluster and dull. Pimento cheese ravioli was fine, kitschy, but bland. Same for bacon deviled eggs. Macaroni and cheese was good with buttery Ritz crackers, but too many crackers were overwhelming. Slaw, cabbage and pickles were good. The popover was delicious! Had high hopes but was let down. Initially service was very slow. Seated quickly but waited 5-7 mins before someone came to greet me or bring me water. Once my waitress did come, she was very nice. Ordered toasted ravioli, brisket, green beans and burnt end mushrooms. Brisket was super tough and chewy also it was cut up into chunks for some reason. My waitress could see I was unhappy so she offered another cut which I appreciated. The other cut was better but honestly I've had much better and can even smoke my own better. 0/2 for bbq in STL. I've ordered delivery or carry out from here 3 or 4 times in the past few years, including during a visit to St. Louis last week. I have tried multiple things here, and think they have an interesting menu and good service. A few observations: Their sides, such as mac and cheese and hush puppies, are excellent. Additionally, their smoked wings are a tasty appetizer. Things like ribs and brisket--hallmarks of quality barbecue--are not worth it here. Their ribs did not have enough smoke and, to me, we're under seasoned. A little salt would have gone a long way. Their brisket was dry and didn't have a great bark. If you think about this place as a barbecue joint, you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for elevated bar food with a BBQ influence, you can get a nice meal here. read more

3.5 The service was amazing. My server was Chris , so shout out to him. The food, however, was ok. I got the ribs and brisket , both were extremely dry. To be fair , I only mentioned it for feedback after the meal, and Chris wanted to replace the meal right away and explained how that's not normal and sometimes there's different thickness of meat , time , etc. I turned down the offer but thanked him. I also got he beef fat fries , which were great. The white max and cheese - good. However , the main part of the dish, the meat, was not just dry but to eat it , a ton of bbq sauce had to be applied. Not an encouraging sign. I do think / hope this is an outlier experience. Sat outside. Some folks walking by smoking , so avoid the outside if you mind. Overall- the service was spot on but the food was a bit of a let down in terms of meat. In terms of sides , delicious! read more

Oh Jesus. This is some no joking around BBQ. I loved this restaurant so much. It was delicious. I tried their ballpark village location, and let me tell you there is a huge difference in quality of the ribs. Like 2-3x fold. This is on par with bbq I've had in KC. This is a 9.3 for me. Boys this is legit and it's cheap! It's so good my friend bought a rack to fly back to NY with him. 10/10 would come back at this location. Shoutout to our waitress. Service was prompt and our order was correct. The meats are mouth watering but the sides absolutely make the meal. There wasn't anything we did not enjoy! Here's what you need to know: meat was serviceable but nowhere close to great. Ribs were over smoked, brisket was way too dry and lean, sauces just aren't good - all 4 of them. Old fashioned was unbelievably sweet - like a dessert. Service was excellent. Price is fair. Overall I would not consider this a destination for myself but it's serviceable. Smoked chicken wings were better than the Bork and beef which is just nuts because I don't even like chicken very much. Max n cheese was quu up its good. Greens and tomatoes were served chilled that I really enjoyed. Seasoning was acidic and just ok but it was the right cold acid/salad to cut the rich meats. Overall, I was hoping for so much more as this was the 2nd salt + smoke we had to drive to during our visit to STL after the first one we tried (downtown close to the arch) was sold out of most meat. If you're in or travelling through St. Louis, this is a MUST go if you want some St. Louis style ribs along with some of the BEST sides that I've had ever. Located in the Loop of St. Louis, Salt and Smoke is a dine in southern casual restaurant with all the southern comfort foods, meats and a surprisingly decent number of vegetarian dishes available. I have to say, I cannot think of a single bad thing about any of the food here, so it's definitely worth a stop. I ordered the half rack of baby back ribs with chili and Mac n cheese. It also comes with a small load of bread that was great. Ribs: 5/5 Super smokey, loved the texture and the meat falling off the bone, cooked perfectly. The sauces they had on the side were great, you had 4 to choose fr and all were delicious options to compliment the ribs. Mac n Cheese: 5/5 the crunchy parts in the cheese is icing on the cake. Absolutely immaculate with the cream inside. It's kinda unfair I live on the West Coast when food like this exists. Chili: 5/5 Honestly this one is pretty good too. Tastes homemade and normally restaurants don't focus on their side dishes but this one is great. Bread: 5/5 crunchy outside, soft inside. Nice and thick. My California brain enjoyed it. I didn't feel like getting dressed and trying out this location so I Uber Eats this order. It was super quick as it is close by the hotel. Overall I really wanted to give them a 4 stars but just couldn't. The wings were amazing and definitely will order again just based on the wings also. Everything else was ok and the brisket was just too fatty. Beans were under cooked and hard, mac and cheese was ok. Popover maybe would taste good fresh from the oven. read more

I really liked this place! I'm on a pretty restrictive diet for allergy purposes so there was a lot on the menu i couldnt eat unfortunately. But fortunately I could eat the trashed wings and they were so good! The waiter explained to me how they're cooked, I think it involved being fried twice? They were crispy outside and tender inside. I had the option of choosing sweet sauce or hot sauce and I chose the hot. I really liked their hot sauce! Great flavor and some kick, but not so spicy that I couldnt enjoy the food. However, my dining companion tried a wing and to him the sauce was way too hot so... Just be aware! To me, it was hotter than Sriracha but not by much. This place is also great for large groups. We dropped by on a Thursday afternoon with no reservation and they were able to seat our group of 11 immediately. read more

I really don't know but all I do know is salt and smoke is the dope this restaurant for barbecue try the trashed ribs you will be saying prayers for me after you eat them...

What type of ribs do they offer, spare or baby back? Do they have the pork steak?
They are baby back ribs and they didn't have pork steak last time I was there.
