I was really excited when I heard Saltgrass was coming to Bee Cave. Dined a lot at the Houston locations when I lived there, but didn't like that I had to drive all the way to the north end of Austin to eat at one. This particular location has two outdoor seating areas which I'm excited about and can't wait until it's no longer raining and 50°. Today is day 3 of being open and it was packed but moved surprisingly quickly. Had to park at Whole Foods but it was worth it for excellent food and service. We spoke to the manager and many people were there from existing locations helping out which would explain why it was running so smoothly. Our server was Gabby and she was great. But the nice part about Landry's restaurants is that they often have multiple people watching your table. They have great teamwork so that drinks are constantly full and empty plates are swiftly removed. The food came out fast given how busy it was. They offer free warm bread and butter. I highly recommend the Queso Fresco as an appetizer. I usually get the Filet and Garlic Mashed Potatoes as an entree. I've never had a bad steak or chicken entree at Saltgrass. Sign up to be a Landry's Select Club member and earn points every time you dine and get a birthday discount as well. I was excited to use mine tonight...$25 off! Ordered 2 ribeyes, medium RARE (see receipt) and cheeseburger sliders for my kid for pickup. 1st Issue: Order was not on time. I ordered for pickup at 7 pm. Arrived in parking stall at 6:50 and was told order just went in. I was told would take 30 min more but actually took 40 min. 2nd Issue: steak was overcooked. I don't eat steaks often but was really craving one. Ordered my steak medium rare and it was well done (see photis). Clearly disappointed as it was my first steak in months! I try to support local restaurants and I do pickup at least 3-4 times a week. I still tip 15-20% but when stuff like this happens, it makes me question tipping practices. We'd been waiting for this Saltgrass location to open and so we were the first through the doors on opening day! The service was exceptional and the steak was delicious. I had the 6ounce bacon-wrapped fillet which comes with garlic mashed potatoes and a salad. The steak was WONDERFUL: tender, perfectly cooked, and deliciously seasoned. The salad and potatoes were very good although the lunch portion of spuds seemed a little skimpy. My companion tried the chicken fried steak with gravy and loaded mashed potatoes - he said it was good but not outstanding. (Personally, at a steakhouse, I always prefer a " real" steak) I can't wait to go again for my birthday!!! read more

Not bad. Not good. A mediocre 2.5 stars. Had a gift card. Took the fam. The only thing not mediocre was the bill. Way overpriced for casual dining. Service was...mediocre. I'm guessing our waiter was 14 (tops) and had received zero actual training during the pandemic. His continual reach across the table led to our conclusion that he used old spice (but not enough). Salads were sad. Is there a shortage of dressing during COVID? I'll pay extra. And who throws shredded cheddar on top of blue cheese? Steaks were well grilled, perfect medium rare around the table, but...mediocre flavor. I'm sure it was beef, just not very beefy. Green beans, broccoli, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese sides were all tasty. When the sides are better than the steaks...mediocre. Appreciate their ETOH standards are stricter than TABC, but it's a turnoff. There are definitely better steakhouses for the price. Would I go without a gift card? Probably not. No. Definitely not. Fist time here with new owners new name. We sat down and it all boils down to service, we walked in the young guy Jack at the reservation desk was so good he told us it's his first day, he was doing a great job! The manager came over she showed us to our table, all good up until that point! Michael our waiter came over what a let down! He was rude never told us his name we had to ask! He was very quick with everything almost as if he never wanted us there, his attitude was really rude! We ordered our appetisers, as well as our main course! The salads came out very quick! before we could even finish our salads, our main course was up! It came out it way too fast! I put my salad to one side, I hadn't finished, Michael our terrible waiter was already taking my salad off the table, I had to tell him I will box that then he brings me a box I haven't even started my main course! How tacky was that to leave a box on our table when we haven't even started our main meal! He never asked us how our meal was, totally ignored our table! I wanted to let him know the Broccoli was overcooked I didn't have the energy to even go there with Michael I just wanted to take my food and go home! The food was good, the steak was very tender. Due to crazy work schedules, It has been a while since we've been to Saltgrass. I took my son this past weekend for his birthday dinner. Brianna was our server. She and the staff were very attentive while giving us space to enjoy our meal and talk. My son's comment was that the steak was melt in your mouth delicious. My Hill Country salad was beyond yummy. I was just in here for lunch yesterday and it was pretty good I had the fried shrimp, my husband had the chicken breast with a side of rice and green beans and my mother-in-law had the chicken fried steak. Our server was very prompt and polite, funny too! I believe I read on the menu that there was supposed to be eight shrimp and I only got seven but I really didn't care but I teased the waiter about it we both had a nice laugh! It was funny though he told me that he would go right to the kitchen & tell them to fry me up another one. He was a good sport and had a good attitude! His name was Brian by the way ;-) It was a perfect day to be outside so if you get a chance to try to get outside while you can! We've been here many times usually we sit in the bar but it was a nice day to take my mother-in-law out. I would recommend this place for a date night for a nice lunch or dinner. We don't eat here often but decided to sit at the bar and have food and drinks Friday evening. The food was good. The service was horrible. We asked multiple times for a side salad, which came at the end of the meal after several people said they were grabbing it. We had to ask for an extra plate and gravy multiple times. Had to chase the bartender down for drinks. It was not busy enough for that level of service. I would eat here again as it may have been an off night but I would expect more from a steakhouse. read more

It's the worst service and food! Ordered an appetizer and the salad came out right away. Ordered the blackened fish and it was not blackened or close to it. It was tasteless and when I asked to send it back, they said they could bring me blackened spice for me to put on it myself. They did take it back and let me order something else. I ordered the 6oz filet medium and it came raw in the center. I ate around the edges and they finally came back and said we can put it back on the grill. My husband was already done with his dinner a while back. They said we had to take it and they would not compensate any way. Went to the bar and husband asked for a screwdriver, short glass double shots. They brought a tall glass with lots of orange juice. Unfortunately our family ate there today (Fathers Day). It was busy as expected but the food was horrible. Our two sirloins were ordered medium well but were burned on the outside and blood red on the inside. The cook manager threw them BACK on the grill and burned them twice as bad. Apparently he just started his new job. The chicken fried steak was also burned beyond recognition. The Brussel sprout dish was burned as well and had to be returned. The management never offered an apology or to reduce our bill. Needless to say, we won't return to this restaurant. On the bright side, the lady waitress was excellent. I do not like writing negative reviews. I want my experiences to be amazing and fun and delicious. I ordered online, for pickup, so I could take the food back to my hotel room (it's only me, no other guests). I ordered my sirloin steak med-rare, it was RAW. The outside looked PERFECT but as soon as I touched it with my fork I could immediately tell something wasn't right. I ordered the loaded mashed potatoes, they were very good. The steak also came with 5 grilled shrimp, they were very good, cold but good. It was my decision to pick up the food and drive the 10 minutes back to the hotel to eat it there. I didn't know that the butter for the roll is like a sweet butter, it was a pleasant surprise. I just couldn't get over how raw the steak was....it wasn't rare, it was RAW. read more

We went to lunch on a Thursday. We sat for an hour prior to receiving our food. When I ordered I asked for no cheese and no croutons on my salad. My salad had cheese and croutons. I asked that my entree be cooked without butter as I am allergic. My steak came out with a glob of butter. Since our food took so long I just scraped it off. It wasn't too busy, and the service was great. The dining area was clean and well lit. My steak was cooked perfectly rare, it unfortunately was a little salty. It was a great ribeye though, not full of fat. But The over salting made me drop a star on the review. My French fried onions were excellent, but the potato soup was grainy and not very warm. Overall I would go again, the cut of meat was good and it was cooked correctly. Perhaps next time I will specifically ask for S&P and no house seasoning. Or have them go lighter on the salt if it isn't a house seasoning. read more

Once again, I've returned to Saltgrass at this location and wish to thank the restaurant for a great meal. Ample servings and quite delicious. Coconut shrimp was very good. Also recommend the all around variety shrimp plate. But above all else as I have mentioned in other reviews, it is the staff that tops off how good a place is. You can have the best of food, but lousy service. In our case we had Meghan last night. She was on top of her game taking care of us and ensuring from time to time we did not need anything. Got take out - a steak with mashed potatoes, green beans, and salad. I put on my order that I'm gluten free (Celiac) so I asked for no bread or croutons and annotated the allergy several times. Went to pick it up and the salad had croutons and was given bread. They helped replace the salad and I gave back the bread, but it's disappointing that they didn't take the allergy seriously.
