Went there for my sons birthday, he picked this place despite my advise to go somewhere decent. After sitting down at a table for 10 with 8 of us there we waited over ten minutes before my father had to ask someone to wait on us. Then it took three waiters to figure out who will wait on us, by this time the waiter took our lunch order with our drink order. Waited 20 minutes for salads, then the server did not bring one of the salads and a soup because she thought that was their entree. So the server forgot the Birthday Boys order, forgot my sisters shrimp with her steak and shrimp order, my mother's steak was over seasoned with salt and so was my chicken fried steak. I couldn't even eat half of it. When the server asked me if I wanted to take any bread home with my leftovers, I said there is already plenty on my plate referring to the breading from the chicken fried steak. You might ask, why didn't you say anything to the manager. I've been this restaurant enough times for lunch with coworkers and have seen people complain about their meals and service. I'm never noticed an improvement and was not about to waste my time today. I wish corporate would take a look at this location and pledge to offer better service and consistency. read more

I enjoy a nice steak. I love the steaks at Saltgrass. My husband and I shared a porterhouse, which was wonderful. Great marbling and flavor. They rubbed some butter on top, which made it seem extra smooth. The steak was definitely large enough to share. We bought the chuck wagon cheese fries for an appetizer. The appetizer was good, but it was more like small chunks of potato with topping rather than what I would expect of a traditional fry. The free bread and butter is great, make sure it try both. The reason I gave this a four and not a five is because I was craving the lemon pepper zucchini appetizer, but it has been discontinued. I hope this was only at this location, but I doubt it. If you find this appetizer at a Saltgrass Steakhouse, get it! It's amazing! read more

Ordered for pick up. The food was good. My husband ordered Pat's Ribeye which he thoroughly enjoyed. HOWEVER, I also ordered the small salmon family pack that is supposed to accommodate 3 people. Everything is my order was correctly except I only received two (personal sized) side salads. I figured this was done in error so I called back and was told, in a rude matter-of-fact manner, that the family pack only included two salads. It was just a small salad - not a big deal, but if ordering a family pack that states for 3 people, it should accommodate for 3 people to include sides. This location my husband and I have been to several times in the past because it's by our house. Just about every time we go there we are disappointed, this time included. We love the food here and the Perfect Patron margaritas in a schooners are the best! I couldn't give it a 5 star review because they​ got rid of my favorite dish, Chicken Austin. Came by at around 130pm on a Tuesday, pretty much a dead time for almost every restaurant. Service was great, fast and super friendly. Let me say, it is RARE to find someone as great as my waitress Heather. She attended to me like I was the only one in the restaurant, even though she had around 5 tables she was taking care of. Her service is what it should be at every restaurant. She surpassed the standard of great service. I definitely recommend her if you stop by this location. Her name again is Heather. She is the best! I also had he opportunity to speak with the manager Joe, his service and attitude was awesome as well. All around just a warm, great place to come. Some restaurant have great food, but lack in service, others vice versa, this one has both. As for the food, I ordered the chicken fried steak in this visit, trying to keep it under $25 as it was my birthday and lunch was free up to that amount. Dinner portion of CFS is great sized. It is very delicious. I loved the taste and of course the country gravy. I had the sweet baked potato on the side, with the cinnamon butter, that was delicious as well. Wife and I went here for date night. We're watching our calories so we both got the bacon-wrapped filet (somehow 390 calories per the menu). Filet was very tender and flavorful. Food was as expected ... above average but didn'tblow us away. Crowd is definitely an older crowd. At 44, I think we were the youngest folks in the place. Parking is a little tough in this location. It feels like they really jammed the restraunt into the space and left little room for parking. read more

Disappointed, went for dinner on Saturday 09/24, worst experience ever for myself, husband and son. Started bad right off the bad, ordered strawberry lemonade to drink and he brought me lemonade mixed with tea? Then I ordered the queso for an appetizer with brisket, it arrives- no brisket. Then I order the sliders for my kid (off the kids menu) and the waiter comes back and says they borrowed the menu from the Huebner location and they don't have sliders here. I ask- don't you make burgers on the regular menu? He says yes, so I tell him, then you can make 1 burger instead of 2 sliders and charge me the kids price. (It'd be different if they had informed me of this right when I got seated.) Next, here comes my salad, with only lettuce and dressing. I ask where the croutons and cheese are and he looks confused. So he takes it back and brings it back with cheese and croutons (we've eaten here many a time, I know the salad comes with croutons and cheese.) Finally- here comes my husbands meal, he ordered chicken tenders and shrimp. They bring him a grilled chicken breast and shrimp. We point out that its wrong, but don't have time to send it back, we have somewhere to be .... So we ask for a manager - he comes to our table. I explain our evening there. He apologizes and says he'll bring it to the attention of the kitchen and waiter. We get our $60 bill..... ask me if he credited ANY of the items back .... nope. Saltgrass has always been hit or miss for me but this location definitely sucks balls. I've been to this location twice and am not impressed. But if you love paying slightly over $22 for something that tastes like over-cooked sawdust (my experience with their medium Gulf Coast steak and shrimp) and enjoy watching servers slack off by the register for a few minutes on a slow night while you're trying to pick up to-go food, just to spring into action again after four, handing you a receipt, time-stamped as 4:02pm and telling you with a smile that you missed the lunch special by two minutes when you just watched them stand and wait 5 minutes before ringing up your order, then you might feel differently. Well, at least it cured the week-long craving that I had for steak because I definitely don't want that crap again. read more

My boyfriend and I had dinner here last Friday evening and we had a wonderful time! We arrived a little bit after 8 and the hostess projected a 30 minute wait. This past friday the restaurant was full of families and older couples. We grabbed drinks at the bar and only ended up waiting 15 minutes before being buzzed that our table was ready. We were seated in the back of the restaurant and our server was very friendly and attentive. We started with the shiner bock bread (served with honey butter!) and a caesar salad for me and a wedge salad for my boyfriend. We both enjoyed our salads (however mine had one sad crouton - perhaps I just need to ask for extra next time?). For our main courses my boyfriend had the new york strip with the steak fries and I had pat's ribeye with a baked sweet potato. The steaks were cooked excellently and they were very flavorful. After this great experience we will definitely be back. The only negative that I experienced was stepping in a nice puddle of vomit right outside of the restaurant on my way out - not really the restaurant's fault - I'm just glad that I was wearing cowboy boots that night instead of my nice heels haha. read more

Well I was enticed by the hype that Salt Grass was the place to go; so went stopped for lunch. Waiter was nice but the Steak (Pat's Ribeye) 10oz. was disappointing. Both steaks came out over the kitchen over cooked. Took 20 minutes for the re-fire; manager took off the Error. But I won't come back. However, the unsweetened tea is awesome. read more

Called ahead to check the wait on a Sunday evening and was pleased not only to hear the wait was only 15-20 minutes but that they also offered to add us to the call ahead seating list. After getting there 20 minutes later, our wait was only 5-10 minutes. After being seated at our table, our waiter David introduced himself and apologized in advance for the poor service we were about to experience because it was his first day. We chided him and reassured him that it surely wouldn't be that bad. Drinks were ordered, delivered, and refilled promptly throughout the evening. After returning with a loaf of bread, David took our orders - nothing too complicated. Salads were delivered and David checked on us regularly to advise the timing of the entrees. When the entrees were delivered, I immediately noticed a problem with my entrée. Having ordered a 12 oz medium rare prime rib, I questioned the fact that more than half the cut was fat and that despite being 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick at the ends the cut was barely 3/8 inch thick at the center. After cutting away all the fat, I realized there was hardly any meat left. After gaining David's attention, he apologized and promised to return with a new cut of meat. The manager delivered the new entrée personally and apologized for the original entrée. However, I highly doubt he would have cared if I hadn't brought it to his attention. This is consistent with other reviews about the cut and quality of meat being poor at this location. The rest of the meal was uneventful, but when the check arrived I noticed a discrepancy. My daughter had ordered a 6 oz filet, but we were charged for a 9 oz filet. Again, after bringing it to David's attention, he returned with the manager who asked what the issue was. Fromhis perspective, we were delivered a 9 oz filet (we couldn't tell the difference between that and a 6 oz cut) and that's what we were charged. After explaining that wasn't what we ordered (it must have been David's error entering the ticket), he finally relented and discounted the meal to the 6 oz price. Over all a good meal, but completely unacceptable errors serving poor quality entrees and arguing over mistakes made by the wait staff. What a miserable experience at this location! Salt grass has LET ME DOWN! My girlfriend and I went to dinner on Friday oct 23. We were told the wait would be 40 min and we waited an hour. For a party of two they sat us in the back area at a 6 top table. In that area there was a big party of 15 adults and next to them were their children, an additional table of 10-12 kids. We told our server we would like to be sat in a different section and she told us we would have to go back to the bottom of the waiting list. We were hungry and unfortunately stayed at the same table next to the screaming children. Now here is where our nightmare started! Appetizer took about 45 min to get to our table. It was a good appetizer and the server asks was it worth the wait? Ummm no I eat bacon wrapped shrimp for a night snack. Then our food took ( I don't even know how long) forever to get to us. Let's just say people who sat down after us got their appetizers, salads, and even main dishes before us. Our waiter Victoria blamed the new servers and chaos going on in the back. Ummm no it is your fault because I'm pretty sure we only had 5 interactions with her while we were their sitting at the table for more than 2 and a half hours. Not once did a manager come to the back section to acknowledge any of the clients. It was a simple solution to a minor problem. Move us to a different section. The fact that our server blamed new hires on the service shows that the "experienced" servers lack initiative to show new co-workers proper practices and that managers do not train employees to the best of their abilities and hold no accountability. First visit: Hostess great. Decor off-putting with taxidermy everywhere including directly overhead at the booths and tables. I like beef but I don't care for it staring at me while I eat it. Otherwise good music (country) ambiance and family oriented atmosphere. Server approached my table to take my drink order, carrying a dirty plate he had bussed from a nearby table. Salad wilted and bruised. Still hanging in there to try the main course. My 8 oz top sirloin and garlic mashed potatoes arrived cooked to medium well perfection and well seasoned. Steak is not a usual thing for me; maybe once a year. I ordered the porterhouse medium rare. It was cooked exactly the way I wanted. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent as well. Our waitress was a little slow with our drinks and water. However it was packed so I'll let that slide I was disappointed with the presentation of my plate though. Saltgrass itself is a fantastic steakhouse and when this particular location gets our order right, it is great. Unfortunately, our food quality is very inconsistent during most of our visits. Our food is oftentimes either under-cooked or over-cooked and sometimes the portions will vary depending on the day (i.e. 4 shrimps vs 3). I understand these issues for a run-of-the-mill eatery but I've come to expect more from this and any establishment owned by the Landry's corporation. The inconsistencies have become so common that we've learned to simply lower our expectations when we visit. We go in with the understanding that our order will be either hit or miss, but will be tasty. The staff is almost always friendly and attentive here and we've never had issues that were not resolved when brought to the management's attention, we simply prefer not to complain more than once during a visit, if at all. As I mentioned he food is always tasty, especially when done as requested and we do not plan to stop visiting this restaurant...we simply go with the understanding that the inconsistencies unfortunately exist. No anti-gun signage has been seen at this establishment so diners may feel safe. read more

It was a very busy Thursday night. Afer i tasted the food, i marveled at how that could be so. I was rather disappointed. The bread want anything special. The first bite of my wedge salad threw me as it was the woody heart. Once i got past that, the dressing was tasty. My t-bone steak was grisly, dissapointing. My sweet potato - fries cold. On our quest for nourishment we chose Saltgrass Steakhouse over our local Popeyes- and in retrospect we should've gone to Popeyes; it would've been a damn good time. Our waiter, Aaron, made us feel as if it was a chore waiting on us- we rarely saw him pass by our table although it was in the middle of the restaurant which was slightly impressive. My sister, who has never complained about a restaurant before, shed a single tear after her food came out wrong twice and Aaron was mia. When he did show he questioned her and told her it was described in the menu when my mom ordered the same thing and got something looking completely different. Upon getting out check, we questioned him on why we were charged for refills when they have been free in the past and Aaron blankly stated that they have always charged for refills and started walking away while i was still rambling about the refill policy esp since we ordered club sodas. After Aaron left with my moms loyalty card we should've known it wasn't coming back soon. We waited 20ish minutes and he said that a manager had it and my mom had to venture to the edge of the kitchen until someone asked her what she was doing. The manager finally came out and said refills are actually free and changed our bill thank god cause we never seen Aaron after the check was delivered. The only thing I can commend them on is the ornate decorations, which makes you feel as if you are in a badly written wes anderson film, with a strong dystopian theme where no waiters or managers exist. I will not be going back here ever, and I strongly encourage everyone to find a better steakhouse or just a steakhouse with a slightly more caring staff. read more

I had the T Bone Steak medium rare with garlic mash potatoes and fried green beans plate and the steak was good,but my steak was more like rare and being that I am carnivore and very hungry at the time I ate it anyways and it was good. The garlic mash potatoes were not good it was plain and the fried green beans was ok. My wife's Laredo Chicken Plate was good, my son said the Chicken Fried Steak was good and my daughter said her Bacon Cheese Burger was good. I like my sweet tea cause it wasn't too sweet or too watery and my kids had sodas. Like to say our waiter was very attentive and nice (we tip him 15). The staff was very friendly and attentive. My waiter came over several times during the meal to check on me. I ordered the tenderloin tips, mixed veggies and salad. It was all ok. Feb 16th 2021 during blizzard that hit Texas my wife and tried to find a restaurant that was open to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The Salt Grass off Bandera and 1604 was the only thing open. When we entered we were met by Gabriel the manager who told us they were no longer setting anymore customers. When I told him it was our 30th anniversary and there was other restaurant open he said he would make an exception. Conner our waiter took great care of us and the food was great. I ask Gabriel why he made the exception and he said if it was his anniversary he hoped someone would do the same for him. What amazing service. You have a customers for life. read more

The management here definitely deserves a pat on the back! We went tonight and everything was absolutely perfect! Our waiter was named Jonathan. He was so awesome! We didn't have to flag him down or ask him for refills or anything. He checked on us often. We had about 3 different servers stop by. One refilled our water. One pre-bussed our table. And the other one just asked how we were doing and how our food was. Our food was delicious. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. This is an amazing steakhouse. The soup was great. The macaroni and cheese is so creamy. But the shrimp platter I had was a hit! The fried shrimp was gnarly. The bbq shrimp was also amazing. We go here often and are members of their rewards club. We've been to several other Saltgrass Steak House restaurants around San Antonio and Texas and they are all good. They are consistent and the service is very good at this price range. The steaks are very good quality and there's plenty of variety. The menu also offers chicken, shrimp, and ribs, as well as salads and some great appetizers. Favorites are the Seafood Fondeaux, the Cognac Pepper Sauce (on anything!), Silver Star Porterhouse, and the Baked Potato Soup with the wonderful beer bread. Although we are very rarely displeased, we know that we can send a dish back to be corrected or replaced, and the waitstaff, the cooks, and the manager will make it right. We've eaten at the bar here and Eric is a great barkeep. He's friendly but not bothersome, and he keeps his eye out for refills. He's got a great memory for return customers, too. read more

The so called manager(such an idiot!!) laughs at our request for a waitress with training. Never saw a waitress for the entire 25 minutes we waited for service.
