We came with friends for dinner on a Friday night; it was packed. Located in the Spring Branch area, with parking available. We haven't been to a Saltgrass since circa 2010's and with most of the old school chains closing down, we did not know what to expect from a Saltgrass. The service is good, the food is what you expect out of an old school chain but the food was overall better than expected. Queso is good, their ribeye steak was cooked and seasoned well and actually tender, the onion strings tastes like what you remember about 20 years ago, and the chicken fried steak was acceptable and also kind of how you remembered it tasting like. Costs haven't gone way up in the age of inflation and honestly the meal was pretty reasonable overall for a steak dinner. Go Saltgrass!

We went to Houston for the HYROX event and this was luckily next door from the event. The wait staff was courteous and welcoming. And the food was SOOO GOOD! Everything we tried was absolutely amazing.

#815 review Wonderful late birthday dinner with my fave yelper. Service was phenomenal with at least 3 servers checking on us. Their seared chicken was cooked perfectly and had a little surprise on my cooked broccoli. Little pieces of round plastic. Initially I thought it was pieces of unmelted butter. I ate the chicken only and a manager did come by to look &explain that it probaly was something that accidentally fell out of a bag. Interesting! It didn't really affect my dinner mood and we still had a great time.I asked them to still charge me since was using a birthday bonus and really it wasn't the servers fault except she didn't see the plastic on the meal. Reached out to corporate and no response. In the past have had amazing dinners at this large chain . Return: unsure Pluses: they do have the most delicious bread and cinnamon butter. Plenty of parking. Very friendly servers.

Good traditional steak house. Service and atmosphere: Very good first impression. Stylish southern decor, clean and organised seating areas. There is separate section with a nice bar. The staff were friendly, especially our waiter. He was attentive and very knowledgeable. Food and drinks: The restaurant offers well designed food and drink menus. There are various option for meat lovers. Seafood fans can also find good selection of dishes. - Chicken fried chicken was moist and well seasoned. Mash was creamy and paired well with the chicken. - Steak with grilled shrimp was okay. The steak was cooked medium as ordered but it didn't have that wow factor you expect from the steak house. Shrimp had delicious seasoning. - You must try their pumpkin cheesecake! Yum. Pricing: Everything was well priced and wasn't expensive ($$).

Saltgrass used to be my family's go to spot for birthdays and celebrations growing up, but I think I've grown out of seeing this chain as a special treat. Not to say I still don't really enjoy coming here as an affordable themed steakhouse. This location is reliable reliable reliable for us. I know that the quality and value here are top notch and I am rewarded for repeat visits while using my Landry's loyalty system. The staff are always kind and attentive, never had a bad experience with anyone. The themed interior is iconic and a big point of happiness for our 1 year old, she loves the mounts all around. The value is pretty much unmatched when you look at similar steakhouses. Complimentary bread, salad, and side with each steak you order is much better than what you'll see offered anywhere else. Prices are reasonable for what you get. The cuts of meat aren't stellar, but the seasoning makes the flavor make up any gaps perceived. The cook on the steaks is typically spot on to what you order, erring on the side to more cooked, which isn't a too big of a problem. Plenty of options on proteins and sides means there's something for everyone, which is nice for the picky eaters. Some nice dessert and drink options really round out the menu nicely and I feel like I never leave here disappointed.

Katy's service & personality is out of this world!! ASK FOR KATY! She made my mom's birthday 10x more memorable & was very familiar, & helpful with what's on the menu! Never had to ask for or need anything because she's always 10 steps ahead!

Today's special...Center cut filet and a crab cake topped with lump crab meat Our group of 10 had an 11:00 reservation and upon arriving, we were welcomed and promptly seated. Not many restaurants serve lunch past 2 or 3:00; Salt Grass serves lunch until 6:00! Knowing this has just become a plus for me! To start, our server took our drink orders and I asked for UNsweetened tea. She brought me sweetened tea the first 2 times before bringing unsweetened on the third attempt. Not sure what happened there. She also told us about the special for today and since I wasn't sure what I wanted to order, I opted for the special; filet and crab cake topped with lump crab meat. Appetizer sampler platters were ordered for the table which came out fairly quick. Salads that were ordered, came out fast and shortly after, our entree. It was the desserts we asked for to-go that took the longest time. We had to get back to the office by 1:00 and it was being cut close. I can't speak for everyone else at the table but my food was delicious! I ordered my filet medium and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection! The crab cake and lump crab; good as well! In the middle of our meal, our waitress mentioned that she remembered us from a year ago. Yep, we sure were there last year! Impressions are lasting! When you think that you're just another face, don't be surprised if you're remembered for how you've treated your server. FYI, she had no problems out of us ;)

Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!

Eat, Drink, HTX…read more Made a reservation for a Sunday night dinner for three. The restaurant is so cute and cozy with tables and booths. Lots of TVs to watch the Olympic Games while you wait for dinner. I liked watching the open pizza oven. They make a lot of pizzas here. The Eat, Drink, HTX menus are a great way to try new restaurants while giving back to the Houston Food Bank. A starter, an entree and a dessert. $25 for dinner. So many choices on this menu. A great deal while helping out those in need. "Started" with the Turkey Samosas. Four crispy pastries that are filled with seasoned ground turkey, potatoes and parsley served with cucumber yogurt. Delicious! The Ember & Greens Soup that my family had was hot, hot, hot and so tasty. The fresh soup was filled with a blend of spinach, parsley, and cilantro with chickpeas, caramelized onions, pinto beans and quinoa. My FIL polished off his bowl! For dinner, we all had the Blackened Salmon. The salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa served on roasted carrots, broccoli and potatoes and a bed of quinoa. It was a full plate, which we all took home for dinner the next day. Note: it is quite buttery. My FIL had his butter and avocado salsa on the side which worked for him. I loved mine as is. Even though we were pretty full, we still enjoyed dessert. The tiramisu was so indulgent. Loved the layered mascarpone custard, whipped cream, coffee liqueur and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. My FLI had the Chia Seed Pudding with fresh berries. What a great meal. We had a slight hiccup where the appetizers came slightly after the main meal was served, but they were so honest about what happened that I still have to give them five stars for their food and their service. Would try them again for their generous, delicious meals. Lots of parking. Water glasses were frequently filled both with and without meals. Thank you for a really nice Sunday night dinner with family.

It was a beautiful day, so it would have been the perfect day to eat outside if you like that. I'm an eat indoors kind of person, but if you like to eat outside, they do have a few tables for that. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Ember & Green. We really couldn't decide what to order, so we decided to order a few things and share them. We started off with the Persian Cucumber Sald. It had Persian cucumbers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onions, and Kalamata olives with oil and lemon dressing and topped with parsley and feta cheese. Let me tell you, thats lemon dressing was delicious! It went so well with the cucumbers. Next we ordered Blackened salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa, served with charred broccolini, roasted carrots and potatoes on a bed of cilantro green pea quinoa. I'm really not a huge fan of salmon, but I'm trying to like it more by trying it different ways. The spices that they put on the salmon were really good, not too spicy, but also, not bland. It was also cooked perfectly. Oh, and that lemon butter... that lemon butter made the meal if you ask me. It was so good. So good in fact, I had to try and make salmon with lemon butter at him the very next week. Mine didn't come out as good as Ember & Greens, but it was decent. That just means that I need to leave the cooking to the professional. For dessert we decided to share the Skillet Cookie. Its a house made chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and chocolate sauce. This was the only thing that we ordered that was a nope. I dont know what happened, but it didn't seem like it was cooked at all in the middle. We took a few bites, that was all we could eat of it. All and all, it was a good experience and I will go back. I'll just skip dessert next time.

The baristas were engrossed in making drinks and didn't seem very friendly or eager to help with questions. On the bright side, the young gal who brought out our food and drinks was really nice and helpful. She even offered to spray down our table and wipe it clean for us after she saw how icky it was. There's a Pick 3 toasts for $24.95 option and we chose two smoked salmon toasts and one avocado toast. They were decently good. It was a nice light meal to share between two of us.
