Was in the area and never been to one so tried it out. The restaurant inside is very nice and a lot of good menu choices. They had milk for my 18 month old which was a plus and coke options. My spouse said the sweet tea was excellent. The bread was soft and fresh with a nice honey butter. The salad was very good served cold with good croutons. My steak was good a bit too much seasoning for me and I didn't like the butter on it, but my baked potato was very good and it was a nice piece of meat for a sirloin. Everyone enjoyed it and we will definitely come to this brand again. read more

This place is good if you are looking for an affordable steakhouse in Texas! When you sit down the bread they give you is warm and served with a sweet honey butter. That was probably my favorite part of the meal! I got the ribs and coconut shrimp.The ribs were good but barely had any meat on them and the crunchy coating on my coconut shrimp kind of tasted stale... like they may have been sitting under heat lamps. My colleague got the steak and sweet potato fries. He said the steak was delicious but the fries were just OK. Saltgrass is a good, not great, steakhouse but I do try to frequent when in town on business. What a disappointment then on my last attempted visit. I say attempted because although I got there and got seated quickly, it took a bit for my order to get taken and after nearly 30 minutes, I was told they hadn't actually entered any order. I opted to leave. It wasn't late and they weren't crowded so not sure why the poor service. It's a shame. No reason why they had to make such a basic error. We went to Saltgrass on a Monday night, so it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. The place has a very rustic feel and lots of animal heads decorating the walls. Our waiter, Miles, was such a charming and attentive young man. He was sincere, polite and efficient. Overall the food was really good and apparently they make the bread and dressings fresh everyday. The wood floors and tables are warm and inviting, but it is a bit loud for conversation. The special was a 6 oz. steak with lobster topping for $20, so the prices are reasonable. The garlic mash potatoes were a bit dissapointing; while still edible, both servings were dry and hard, as if they'd been plopped on the plate and some time had passed before the meat was ready to be served. Had a steak salad from here. It wasn't a very healthy salad option, but hey, it's Texas. There was a ton of juicy tender sirloin steak on the top. That's all I could pay attention to. It was like I didn't even order a salad at all. It was kind of like a sirloin steak on a bed of lettuce and fried asparagus with eggs. Sort of a weird combo - but it was good. One of my coworkers had the ribeye which looked like 24oz, while the other had the filet mignon kabob which smelled so good. They both enjoyed their entrees. Another casual dining spot with good food, good service and reasonable prices. I like the Steak cobb salad, the beef tips (at lunch) with addictive peppercorn sauce and mashed potatoes. The chicken fried steak is one of the better examples around. The steak soup is delish. The fried shrimp used to be very good, but I haven't had them lately. My coworker from Boston used to say she loved to eat here when in town on business because the steaks were better than anything she could get in Boston at a reasonable price. They get extra points for sweet tea. I know most people like the bread - but I'm indifferent to it. The cheesecake is really good. The margaritas and pina coladas could use more alcohol. Good service and comfortable booths make this place a winner. I've eaten at the locations on Lamar in Arlington, in Lewisville and in Irving at 635. They are consistently good. read more

We have eaten in this restaurant a dozen times +/- and go back because we enjoy each of our visits/meals; from greetings, to seating, service, food and ambiance. The food is consistently good; their steak seasoning enhances the meat. We order medium-rare steaks and they are spot on. The sides are varied (good selections) and tasty all around. Service is usually good and food delivery is in tune with our orders for appetizers and salad before the entree is served. Once or twice when they were overly crowded, it might lag a little, but we haven't had service we would feel compelled to complain about. We almost always have Ribeye's, which come with a nice Cesar salad, their Shiner Bock beer bread, a side comes with the steak and you can add on their mushroom onion topping for an additional charge. We can say their burgers are good and their Short Ribs entree is also delicious! For a "chain" restaurant, the food is good. We appreciate their pricing also - especially for a casual night dinner vs. high-end Steak Restaurants. read more

A staple for me. Consistently good. Order anything and expect big portions of well prepared food. All of their steaks are juicy, well peppered, and cooked as ordered. The vaquero tacos have just a little spice to them and are good if you like brisket. The ribs are, of course, fall off the bone. The coconut shrimp deserve their own paragraph. I have tried many a coconut shrimp and none has ever come close to Salt Grass' coconut shrimp. I implore you to try them, you can even get them as an add on to your dish... Just... Try them. A 5 rating, in my opinion, is reserved for some of the best restaurants in the world. I do not give it lightly to this particular Saltgrass. I have been to this location a couple times and the food has always been outstanding. Service on the other hand took a dip this last time (yesterday), but our waiter's teammates picked up the slack and whenever he decided to show up, the theatrics were absolutely entertaining. I had steak and lobster, ordered medium well with a side salad. The place wasn't as packed as most times so I wondered why service was slow at the beginning. Took about 10-15 minutes just to order drinks. However when the drinks and bread got to the table, all was forgiven. This is one chain place I will recommend over and over. The taste of seasoning, food is always fresh, waitstaff is professional. I could do without the animal heads mounted on the wall but I'm sure that adds to the ambiance somehow. Nice, bright general steak restaurant. I sat at the bar and ordered the ribs. They were... OK. Coulda used more sauce. Meat was so-so flavor-wise. The bread and butter they give you is excellent - that butter has like sugar and cinammon in it or something! Addictive! But for the price, it was all right. I'd go back. I didn't see any lamb on the menu, which is what I was looking for that night. Lots of different steaks on the menu and a pleasant enough atmosphere. I am your typical business traveler who will come to chains like this to find a good steak. I've had the Prime Rib and NY Streak here, and both were good. They provide a soup or salad for your starter, and a side to go with your steak. Both times I've been here, I left very full. The prices are reasonable. The 'Texas tea' is a pretty good drink worth having. Service is pretty friendly, I'll be coming back when I"m in town! read more

Terrible experience for a birthday dinner. I came here with 3 others, for a birthday dinner for two. The Good: Place wasn't too packed when arriving at 3:38pm The Bad: Well... here we go. If you like having staff forgetting to put your order in, for almost an hour after requested. While you're just staring at drinks, and old chips. One guest who got their Ribeye, literally 20 mins after sitting down. 4 other families, who had eaten and left already. While everyone who had order almost 40 mins, before their arrival was still waiting. Requesting a manager, who "appeared" to "care" when the food finally showed, it was undercooked from requested. Which required another 15 mins (Completed food order ETA 1hr, 28 mins) Finally arrive, but all guests have eaten their respective meals. While waiting on the individual who had the issue, to finally eat. After about sitting there for almost 2 hours over, the estimated time. You finally get the bill, which is funny? That one would be given for poor service. The manager is nowhere to be found. No, customer service of walking up and saying "I'm sorry, for the multiple issues and time wasted today. Check is on us, we hope to make it exceptional next time..." NOPE... instead it was just dropped on the table. Which I was complaining to my party about, about how it was an issue. Sadly, the mother of the group believed it was a "learning experience" vs something needing to be addressed. Which I say, to this Salt Grass. You're welcome for the $120+ , plus 20 for tip. I'll make sure nobody, from my unit/station ever comes here. I'll make sure that the city, my faculty staff, local businesses that are contracted near Las Colinas. I don't know about the other locations, but the quality of the meat has gone down drastically. It used to be my favorite place even comparing with more expensive restaurants I used to recommend their flavorful stakes. We got the ribeye and I'm embarrassed I ever recommended it, my friend said there is a lot of connective tissue on the stake and I saw that too, I don't even think it was connective tissue, it was that "meat glue" people are taking about to glue the pieces of meat together. It was disgusting, and so hard to digest. I regret eating it Their cheesecake was still super delish and their bread was good and their service was prompt and courteous., but food quality is very important to me so I give it thumbs down. read more

I let them know and th y corrected instantly. I than tried the sprouts and they were so mushy. I then started on my steak. Flavor was good but under cooked as I ordered medium. This is the boyfriend's favorite restaurant. They have great juicy steaks and awesome sides to go with it. Fun for a date night or to bring friends from out of town. I've eaten at this place several times in the past few months, all times business lunches. It delivers consistently good service, delicious food (I'm a huge fan of ribs, mac and cheese, and the wedge salad, personally), and an entertaining, albeit noisy ambiance. Fellow diners have thoroughly enjoyed fish, chicken, and steaks, as well, all of which looked to be mindfully prepared. They serve a lovely warm round of bread (as much as you want, with honey butter :P ). This is about as good as chain food gets, on a par for what it is (TX steak joint) with Pappadeaux on the general quality and value scale. Went to an Easter lunch today with my mom here as it is one of her favorite restaurants. My mom was able to make reservations and they seated us right away. The service was awesome--our waiter was attentive, kind, and helpful. He recommended the wedge salad with their rang and balsamic dressing, which was amazing and bursting with flavor. Another amazing thing is that their lunch menu is available all day, 7 days a week until 4pm; so you save a few dollars and get the same amount of food by going at lunch time. For my meal I ordered the 6 oz. sirloin and the mixed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, and green beans). The sirloin did not need any steak sauce as it was juicy and tender; and the vegetables were cooked well and not covered with butter and salt. I wanted to keep eating all of it, but I got full between the wedge salad, bread/butter, water, and steak. I just finished my steak and vegetables leftovers a few minutes ago and it was still great! I am impressed because plenty of places have served me a dry pork chop. The prime rib and rib eye were both tender and seasoned well. My only complaint is that our foods were never warm. The service is often slow. If you can't deliver what I ordered then let me know and I will change it out go someplace else. Having an argument with the manager over what "my definition of rare" is just doesn't make it fun. USDA rare is 125 degrees internal temp. w/ cool, red center. Tan our grey was not mentioned. I loved my visit to the Salt Grass. The appetizer tower with avocado, crab and pico was awesome. For my entrée I ordered the surf and turf which was a 10 oz rib eye with your choice of shrimp (I got the grilled). The steak and shrimp were perfect and the 10 oz was huge I only ate 1/4 of it because I was stuffed. There is a large selection of sides I chose the baked sweet potato. I also had a dinner salad with there house made ranch. I really enjoyed this restaurant the service was excellent and the food is very good. My co-workers boss recommended we eat at the Saltgrass Steakhouse before leaving Texas. We took the recommendation. This restaurant had FABULOUS SERVICE. Our waitress was wonderful. I do apologize that I forgot her name. The food was good and we all enjoyed our meals. We started with the Lone starters sampler and it was perfect for our party of 6. I dined on the prime rib with bbq prawns wrapped in bacon stuffed with cream cheese. It was definitely a hearty meal. Came in to grab a bite to eat before heading to work. Was greeted by a hostess on her cell phone texting. It was an off time 4pm so I overlooked this although still rude. My waiter however was very friendly and informative since it was my first time here. The food was very good and was ready quickly. There were a lot of staff sitting around talking which is fine but you could hear them throughout the restaurant. All in all experience was good. After waiting for hours just to have dinner here, I ordered the Texas T-Bone "MEDIUM RARE" it was cooked "WELL DONE"! Why???? I don't know maybe they need to hire a Chef that knows the difference! So, my steak was taken back immediately to be replaced, I was okay with that. But, after waiting 8-10 minutes the host came to our table and told me it would be another 6 minutes and he offered me free sides, I told him I didn't want the free sides, and wished my steak was done right the first time. My husband was sad because he had already started eating and I had no dinner. Out of respect to me he waited as his dinner got cold. After the 6 minutes had passed, another gentleman came to our table to tell me that it would be another few more minutes before I could get my dinner. MY GOD! What kind of idiot can't cook a STEAK! I visited this location last night with a couple of friends for drinks and dinner at the bar. The restaurant seemed relatively quiet while there, but we did not have a good experience with the bartender. Look, I know the restaurant business is tough and stressful work, and you have to overlook certain things because of staffing shortages, etc.. The bartender took over 10 minutes to take a drink order and, after another 15 minutes, did not come to take our dinner order. The guy seemed to have a chip on his shoulder when we sat down. When he finally made his way to our end of the bar, I asked if we could have a server look after us if he was overwhelmed with takeout orders. His answer was, "are you serious?" A manager came over to see us and was polite and friendly. She arranged a server for us. But, throughout our dinner, we had to deal with this guy giving looks and generally acting annoyed. Our waiter recommended $14 margaritas that tasted horrible - containing no tequila and an over abundance of sour mix. We had them replaced and they were only slightly less sour the second time. There was a large piece of cardboard in my girlfriend's ketchup dish, the "steak fries" were not steak fries, the steak came out much more cooked than we had both asked for. It lacked any sort of taste other than the "special" butter that they slather on top of your $21 top sirloin??? On the up-side our waiter was very polite. 0/5 Star experience.
