I visited this location for SA restaurant week and I enjoyed my experience. I got a Cesar salad 10/10, fried mushrooms 10/10 (my favorite), loaf of bread 7/10, sirloin steak with shrimp ( I added mushrooms & onions) 7/10 a little over cooked. Lastly, carrot cake to go, I was absolutely stuffed. I went as a solo diner and was sat at a cozy booth. I revived great attentive service and was able to enjoy the on brand steakhouse decor with a WNBA game playing on a tv in the background. Great casual atmosphere. We were greeted immediately. A late-arriving member of our party was escorted back to our table. Friendly and efficient staff. They arranged tables to accommodate our 6 adults, a toddler and a baby. I ordered the steak salad, a great change of pace with nice blue cheese dressing. The steak was prepared perfectly as ordered. Hubby ordered bourbon-glazed pork chops and loved their flavor. Grandson loved the cheesy potatoes. Jennifer took care of us with style and grace. They have a nice "old west" theme inside and out, very fitting for South Texas. I we started out with the complimentary bread which didn't feel fresh out of the oven, but it was still good. I also ordered the fried mushrooms which were a 10/10, huge portion, great flavor, nicely seasoned. My husband ordered the filet mignon with a baked sweet potato and fried shrimp. The potato was just okay, the steak didn't quite feel like filet, but the fried shrimp were good. Overall 7/10, not great, not awful. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, it was an absolute HIT! My steak was perfectly seasoned, perfect batter and fry, the steak was tender, the gravy was excellent, my green beans were super hot and delicious, and the massed potatoes were super creamy! Absolute 10/10! I was a bit upset because I ordered an Old Fashion but they were out of the cube ice so I just ordered a Blue Moon instead. I wanted to share feedback regarding my lunch experience today. I did contact the restaurant later in the day to discuss my concerns, but unfortunately, I left that conversation feeling that my concerns had not been fully understood or addressed. During our visit, one of the managers introduced themselves to our table and encouraged us to let them know if we needed anything. Because our soups had already taken more than 15 minutes to arrive, and I was dining with my elderly mother, I took the opportunity to ask this manager for assistance. Specifically, I asked if the soups could be prepared to go because of the extended wait and our circumstances. The manager appeared to communicate the request to the kitchen staff, which I appreciated. However, the manager never returned to our table to follow up or confirm that the request had actually been taken care of. To me, that follow-through is an important part of providing good guest service. When a manager personally offers assistance and a guest accepts that offer, I believe the manager should take ownership of the request through to completion. When I called later to provide feedback, I was told that they "thought" everything had been taken care of. Unfortunately, that response reinforced my concern. Assuming that a request was handled is different from taking the time to confirm that it was handled and that the guest was satisfied. I understand that managers have different personalities and approaches to guest service, and I certainly hope that this was an isolated experience. I also recognize that one disappointing interaction does not necessarily represent the overall service Saltgrass strives to provide. read more

I had one of the best customer service experience at this Saltgrass location. My server, Daniel, was thorough, personable and thoughtful. The Chicken Laredo was very flavorful after having started with the pickles and peppers appetizer. I'm used to having cream cheese in the middle of the peppers and that's not how it is done here, so I might pass on that next time. Not that it was bad, it's just wasn't my preference. For $22, I received a container of Caesar salad with 2 portions of dressing, containers of mashed potatoes and green beans, 11 chicken tenders and 2 round loaves of wheat bread with whipped butter. The mashed potatoes were very dry and lumpy , not creamy at all. I think they forgot to add the cream to thin it out. The green beans and the Caesar salad were the best. The chicken tenders were so dry, every bite needed to dunked in ranch dressing. We made reservations for Father's Day lunch after church. We had 5 in our party. My 89 year old dad, and my husband. The food was good! The restaurant itself was crazy busy packed. The air conditioning didn't feel like it was able to keep up with all the people in the building. We were packed in like sardines. They had extra tables and chairs to keep bringing people in. We had to wait 30 minutes to sit even with a reservation. We won't be returning for a holiday lunch or dinner anytime soon. read more

Our family decided for the very first time ever to preorder a Thanksgiving takeout meal. We ordered for a family of four. From pickup, waited about 10mins. It came all packaged up in a box. Cold (intentional). It had heat up instructions. All were in oven approved packaging so it was easier to basically throw everything in the oven as is. Surprised of the size/amount of Turkey we got (a LOT)... the sides were.. at first glance small. However, we ended up having leftovers! The pictures included of our table spread are only portion of the food (the rest was in the oven keeping warm should we need more). The Mac and tamales were not a part of the package (just fyi cause I took a table pic of everything from our home) ** package included turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans casserole, Caesar salad and fresh baked bread. Overall everything tasted wonderful. It truly saved us a lot of time and energy, we are not opposed to doing this again. I'd like to also add, I've personally never been to a Saltgrass, the location seemed quite clean, lighting was low and cozy, and everyone seemed to be having a nice time eating their dine-in meals on this Thanksgiving day. My wife and I could not stand to watch the Cowboys look like garbage anymore, so we decided to come eat dinner before the season premiere of the new Yellowstone! Lol! Came here and got seated right away. Ambience is fantastic here as it always is and the staff is very friendly. I will say that I did not think the steak was outstanding as it usually is. Even the brussels sprouts which are really reliable were good, but they were not wonderful. They are pretty busy and maybe that was why, and I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but not up to the usual excellence that we have in the past. We went to the Saltgrass restaurant on 281 in San Antonio last Sunday, 5/31. I had the blackened Redfish which was good, the baked potato was dry even with the sour cream, etc. The others in our party (4) all had the rib eyes. Don't waste your money. We've had thicker breakfast steaks than the rib eyes served for dinner. Everyone said the same thing, the only thing you tasted was the seasoning. Other than that the meat had no flavor at all. We've come to this restaurant countless times and we've never had an issue order a drink for our 19 year old daughter. As per TABC and Texas laws and codes state it is legal to do so. However this most recent visit, our waiter Chris, denied service under the excuse that TABC laws have changed which isn't true. However we understand if Saltgrass's policy have changed and is simply denying that service to anyone under the age of 21. Would love to see your waitstaff on the same page. Saltgrass is a slight step up from the TX roadhouse. Better cuts of meat, a more quiet ambiance, and a full bar. The food quality is also a step up from other box steak restaurants. They have a variety ranging from seafood to burgers as well as all of the usual drink options. The service at this location is pretty good as I've only had younger, attentive waiters & waitresses the times I've gone. read more

Completely on top of things, very friendly, accommodating, and responsive to our needs. During my meal this evening the kitchen staff left paperclip like metal prong in my steak. They placed two in the steak to keep the back from curling but failed to take one of them out. I noticed it when I cut into the steak. My waiter informed the on duty manager who came by to apologize but didn't offer any kind of compensation for their very egregious error. When a restaurant creates a safety risk to one of their patrons, the professional thing to do is to apologize to your customer and compensate them for their meal. Can't say I've ever had a bad experience with the quality of the food, but this time my meal was not the best. My salmon was dry and my Caesar salad was drenched in dressing. While the service was excellent, I can't complain too much because I failed to forget to ask for dressing on the side and should have informed my waiter about my dry salmon. My husband and I visited Saltgrass Steak House on June 12 to celebrate some very encouraging cancer treatment results. This was an incredibly meaningful occasion for our family. Saltgrass has always been my husband's favorite restaurant, and his son had traveled in from Kentucky to join us for this special celebration. Unfortunately, what should have been a memorable evening became a major disappointment. The restaurant was not busy, yet the service was poor from the moment we sat down. Our waitress was rude, inattentive, and made us feel rushed throughout the meal, despite there being no apparent reason for it. The food was equally disappointing. Our meals arrived cold, and the steak was tough and difficult to eat. For a restaurant known for its steaks, this was especially frustrating. After months of cancer treatments, appointments, and uncertainty, we were looking forward to spending quality time together and celebrating a positive milestone. Instead, we left feeling disappointed and saddened that such an important family moment was overshadowed by poor food and subpar service. We understand that every restaurant can have an off night, but given the significance of this occasion and the fact that the restaurant was not busy, there was no excuse for the level of service and food quality we experienced. We expected much more from Saltgrass and hope management takes this feedback seriously. read more

Well, it happened again, the famous napkin in the middle of an aisle that was dropped by customer and nobody wanted to pick it up. There was a waitress that saw it and did not step on it. There was a Spanish boy kind of big build that saw it, looked down and saw it, but stepped over it and actually there was a Spanish lady that actually went by it and stepped on it, but did not pick it up and now there was a supervisor lady that saw it she was standing right in front of the kitchen right in front of the aisle, talking to other people and looking at it I was kind of staring at her and she knew it was there. It took about 15 minutes finally before she told somebody to pick it up, but what is the deal with napkins not so much napkins, but linen that if they don't drop it, nobody picks it up. They walk over it. They purposely walk over it. They feel it's not their responsibility. I laugh. I saw it and I laughed. First of all, let me just say that the service was better here than our service at Eddie Vs?!! Strider was a freaking beast and we appreciated his hustle! It's been a very long time since we had such excellent service. The food was absolutely incredible as always. The surface here is really great! The food tasted OK it seem like the steak was lacking some seasoning that's hard to figure out it was seasoned, but there was something missing. My Caesar salad was drenched and dressing, so I barely ate that they did offer to replace it for me, but then I knew my steak was gonna be coming soon so I opted out of that. The mushrooms and onions I got my steak and the portion was smaller than what I remember. They call it a shareable was beyond me, but it wasn't bad. It may have been an off night for them.
