I frequented the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino for many years and continued during the awful transition. I've been in many different types of food service for 13 years (bars, clubs, large professional sports venues, fine dining, coffee and wine, etc) Extremely disappointed for several reasons: Some waitstaff that have worked since this was Hard Rock casino, and quite a bit of inexperienced staff. I'm assuming that the cooking staff is also very inexperienced given the two experiences I had for dinner and breakfast. I wouldn't complain about the Benedict about being over priced if it came with anything in addition to small poached eggs, thin slices of ham, and English muffins smaller than my palm and harder than card board. The English muffins couldn't even be cut with the steak knife they gave me and were inedible. Wait staff was perfectly nice--asked if I wanted a new dish, but I didn't want to wait too long and so I just asked for new English muffins-which came out perfectly the second time around. For dinner I got the salmon Oscar--loved the idea of breaded asparagus, but the breading was under seasoned and quite bland. The salmon was cooked slightly over and very salty. It would have worked if the two balanced out but they were too far on each end of the spectrum. I'd be happy to give them another chance after they work out issues and build up more cooking experience/familiarity with the menu and how food is supposed to be cooked. I'm am MOST disappointed that Park Prime closed and this is the replacement....Park prime bounced between a 3.5-4 out of 5 but the pork belly, crab cakes, steak, lobster truffle mac, and Seabass were all go-to's if I wanted a nice sit-down dinner. Hopefully not permanently closed. Currently Salt Grass resembles more of a black angus but with a limited menu. Only thing that would make it worse is if oyster bar closed. When making changes to a large establishment, quality needs to either stay the same or improve, not down grade and eliminate alternative pre-existing options that are better. read more

We made a reservation for 7:15 pm..arrived on time and were seated promptly. Our waiter, Ruben, brought us menus and we requested waters. Two in our party of 4 ordered cocktails and we ordered dinner. Bread and butter arrived...The bread was not very good..lacked flavor. Salads arrived, crisp and cold..perfection. Our 16 oz Ribeye was ok..the baked potato was not hot..the butter never melted..Our server was not up to par. Had he inquired, I would have mentioned the potato was not hot..he returned and removed 3 plates as I asked for a box. At least 10 minutes passed and he brought a huge box..I asked for a small box.... He brought ice cream for our Friend, as it was her Birthday, but no box..my plate was still on the table. She asked for 3 more spoons...which he brought but no box. He brought the bill and disappeared. I finally went to the front desk and asked if I could just pay the bill as we had been done for some time and had other things to do that night...he got on a microphone and requested our server to come to the front desk. He did not arrive. Back to the table and a box appeared but no Ruben. By the way, it felt like we were at a sports bar with huge TVs everywhere..and a baseball game on. This is not like a premier restaurant such as Friday's Station at Harrah's where the food and the service is at a much higher caliber, but what I was expecting since I had been to Salt Grass in San Antonio on the River Walk. My husband, son and I went on a date to Saltgrass and we had the best time! Our server, Keenan, did such a perfect job at attending to all of our needs even before we knew we had them. He brought me another full refill even before I noticed my drink was low, I love that kind of attention-to-detail, what a luxury! Last night was the 3rd time that I have dined at Saltgrass South Lake Tahoe. The food has always been great. I LOVE that they offer fresh, hot bread and butter. Items that we have tried and loved: Sirloin Wedge Salad-very nice side portion of steak, done to perfection. Salmon was very good as well. Filet Mignon was excellent and also done to perfection. Because I had already had 2 great experiences there, I made a reservation for last night for a special occasion. My son was proposing to his girlfriend, and we had a reservation to celebrate! I made the reservation on Open Table, and put in the comments that we were celebrating a special occasion, that my son would be proposing and we were coming in after to celebrate. We were seated pretty much right away. We had a 6:30 reservation on a Saturday night and we were seated by 6:45. We ordered our dinner, ate our dinner, and the server asked if there would be anything else. I was seated against the wall and in a corner, so I could not just slip out and remind the hostess. I assumed that since I had spelled it out in the reservation, that was all that was necessary. Well, the check came and no mention of the engagement. So I was disappointed. I should also mention that it would be nice if the wait staff could offer to validate parking. They will do it, but we did have to come back in after getting to our car and realizing that we forgot! Totally our fault for forgetting, but a quick "do you need parking validated" would have been a great reminder. Moral of the story: Don't count on them for a celebration dinner. Food is good, the ambience is good, service is pretty good.....but I am annoyed at the lack of attention to detail. read more

When we arrived and checked in, the hostesses informed us that it would be a 1.5 to 2 hour wait because of a kitchen backup/malfunction, and that they were out of most of the steaks on their menu. They suggested that we go elsewhere. This 1-star review is for the lack of communication in informing us that they were not able to accommodate us for dining. I assume they had known before we arrived that that they were both backed up and low on items. It would have been courteous for them to call and inform us BEFORE we arrived to check in so that we could have made other plans. Instead, we left disappointed and hungry. read more

Three days ago we stopped into Saltgrass Steakhouse that was conveniently found just on the perimeter of the Golden Nugget. Kevin , our server, told me that the cheeseburger would be cooked medium well. I did not find that acceptable since the grade of meat they should be using in this restaurant should be safe for a medium rare. He said that he would put in the order as such. My husband ordered the chicken Caesar salad that he enjoyed. My burger came out medium well. Since we were on a time restraint, I ate half of my burger. When Kevin checked on us, I informed him that the burger was medium well but I would keep the plate. Without my knowledge,he went to his manager and explained the situation. I ordered their grilled salmon which included a side, I chose a garden salad I also ordered a side of green beans (which were extra) the salmon was small and very thin and beyond dry I asked for Tabasco just to give it some moisture. We started with Range Rattlers that were delicious, then off to a wedge salad, super yummy then we shared the Steak Oscar with a loaded baked potato, steak was well seasoned and very tender. Baked potato was cooked perfectly, light and fluffy without overdoing it on the toppings. Our server was very funny and prompt with our order and attentive to our table. Came here on a Saturday night and our waiter was amazing! The hostess with short curly hair and glasses was oblivious to any questions we asked. After our dinner we went to the restroom and quickly went back to her to ask about validation. She said we needed our receipt from dinner but we threw it away in the restroom. She was acting as if she didn't sit us down and see us walk out after dinner. Mind you we went back within 3 minutes to ask for validation and she was so hesitant to give it to us.
