We met some good friends here for dinner and drinks and had a great time. They have a nice outdoor dining area that is shielded from the elements. BTW, what's up with the weather here? It was hot and sunny in Los Gatos and it was freezing here! The service was decent, our waitress was friendly but kept going AWOL while others came to check up on us. The food was mixed. The burrata was good. The meatball was not good, it was not cooked evenly and the center was cold. The truffle ravioli was my favorite dish. The NY steak was well seasoned but the meat itself was too veiny. We got to share 4 different desserts. The sticky toffee cake and creme brulee were great. The gelato and cheesecake were decent. Came by for dinner the other night and it was a great experience! Parking was available on the street along with city-owned surface lots! Made a reservation via Yelp and our table was ready upon arrival! They had outdoor patio seating along with indoor seating. At the time of arrival, the outdoor seemed to be at capacity and indoor was at 80% capacity. Meal started off with the fried calamari and it was lightly fried making it a fantastic appetizer! The skirt steak entree was a huge portion! The skirt steak was well marinated and cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested! The bed of mashed potatoes and broccoli were great. This was my second time here; this time for lunch. In addition to the serene ambiance and warm wine decor, the food is tasty and nicely plated. We had fried calamari and Brussel sprouts appetizers followed by tasty entrees: chicken pasta in spicy red cream sauce, salmon, kale quinoa salad with grilled prawns and the star attraction: cioppino. My husband said it was best he'd ever had! Nice wine and cocktail selection. Dessert was just okay but my decaf Americano was the best I'd ever had. Such a delightful lunch at the Saltyard a few days ago! It wasn't super busy so we got a nice table outside. My friend and I both got the pomegranate Martini! It was absolutely delicious!! Tonight my father in law invited us out to Saltyard for dinner to celebrate life. This was my first time dining here and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. We had made a reservation (and I'm glad we did because it was packed on a Saturday night) and upon arrival we're greeted at the door and brought to our seats right away. They offer Indoor and outdoor seating but we decided to sit indoors. I enjoy the more dim lighting of places like this as I feel that it helps keep your dining experience more intimate. After taking our seats, we got the opportunity to meet our server Herbert. He was amazing. He was very attentive to us all night refilling our drinks and making sure that we had all that we needed. We started the night with a few appetizers. The burrata cheese and the calamari. Both were excellent! The cheese was nice and creamy and the calamari was delicious. The added pieces of artichoke in the calamari were a nice surprise. We also enjoyed the beet salad and the mixed greens. For my main course I decided quickly on the Seafood Linguine. So glad I chose this entree. It was absolutely delicious. The seafood tasted very fresh (I've had bad experiences with some rubbery frozen seafood at other restaurants), and the pasta was cooked to perfection. I also snagged a bite of my daughters cheeseburger (so juicy) and my wife's Shell Pasta. And my father in law kept raving about how moist his salmon was. I forgot to take pictures of dessert but with a party of 5, we decided to order and share a few different options so we could taste a bite of each. All were good. Cheesecake, toffee pudding, and warm chocolate cake were all quite tasty. Overall, we left with smiles on our faces and will definitely be back to dine here in the near future. read more

So unique and every meal is so very satisfying. Burrata served with tomato - just tasted fresh, creamy, and delicious. Very nicely done calamari with pickled banana peppers and deep-fried artichokes - I returned to this the second time I was here. It's the same with the Bruschetta with mushrooms (super delicious). Beet salad (beets, goat cheese, and arugula) with chicken is again fantastic. The chicken had flavor to the last bite. Then the chicken entree with sundried tomato and pesto sauce, was again a knockout dish. Love the trendy neighborhood and the ambiance here is always so inviting. The service is top-notch. The food was so so. We order steak medium rare and came all raw and just the top layer with burn mark. The middle part is all raw and at room temperature. I suspected the chef using high heat then called it done. When I asked to cook a little more as it is not medium rare the waiter insisted it is... anyway food just okay. read more

Don't get me wrong, the service I experienced from this place is very inconsistent. Got an incredibly nice server once and the other was an asshole. However, they have the amazing food to back up their prickly personalities. So, treat me like shit however. The one dish that I get every time from here is the salmon entree. The plating on this dish is beautiful and the flavors are even more amazing. salmon itself was nicely seasoned, the vinaigrette and butter sauce they have on the side have a perfect balance. The mash potato was also delicious and very well compliments the dish. I come here only to get this dish. Their other dishes are delicious as well but I don't remember much on them being that I've only been ordering the damn salmon. Came here for date night with my husband and we were able to sit at one of their tables outside and enjoy the nice weather. For our starter, we decided to go with the beef spring rolls. It is one small eggroll that is cut into 4 pieces that comes with a side of delicious horseradish dipping sauce. For our mains, I went with the sea bass while my husband got their skirt steak. While everything on my dish was cooked well and was yummy, I didn't realize that it would be a whole fish (bones in, skin on) that would be coming out. That's my bad for not making the connection when the description said "branzino". Not a big deal, but there were several times that I had to pick bones out of my mouth from a big bite I just took. For dessert, we received a complimentary slice of NY cheesecake (thanks Yelp!) The cake was delicious - light and fluffy and just the right amount of sweet. However, I don't think they make it in house - it tasted store bought. Overall though, a solid place to come to for date night. read more

I really liked the ambience and the service at Saltyard. The service from the hostess and waitress were excellent and the restaurant as a whole is a great environment for special occasions although it could get pretty loud inside. I enjoyed all of those aspects, but the food was a bit underwhelming in my experience. You can tell they used fresh and good quality ingredients, but the execution was a bit off. We ordered the Calamari which was unique since it had jalapeños and fried artichokes which you don't always get in your typical Calamari. The seafood was fresh, but the fried batter was very oily and greasy. The Cioppino had a ton of overcooked seafood. The calamari, prawns, clams & mussels, salmon were all way overcooked. The white wine marinara sauce was also very watery and not flavorful so for the price tag of $36.99 it was a bit disappointing although the portions were fairly generous at least. The Salmon Entree was $25.99 and overcooked and had no seasoning. The entree I enjoyed the most was what I ordered for myself which was the Penne Chicken which costed $20.99 and it was pretty solid. I loved the cajun pesto cream sauce a lot. The vegetables and chicken. that came with it were tasty. I would recommend this dish over the other two entrees we got. Overall, my expectations were high for Saltyard and the service was outstanding and provided a nice environment for a dining experience, but I was dissatisfied with the food since I only enjoyed one dish and there is definitely room for improvement. read more

Wife picked this place. We got here early and I was like this place isn't crowded why??? We had reservations and got seated right away. Parking is still a bit crowded downtown area but waited and got a parking spot near by. Kids had the sliders and ate it all up. We also orders the bolognese and the kids loved it. Ordered the Burlingame flight and had ordered some calamari. The calamari batter was flavorful and delicious. They even had artichoke in it which was a surprise and awesome!!! The wife ordered the ciopinno . She had to add extra pepper to get the kick to it. I ordered the rib eye and omg that was so flavorful and good. Hit the spot. Sooo good!!!! I checked in on Yelp and got a free cheesecake for the kids and also ordered the toffee pudding. I only got one bit of it cuz the kids devoured it since it was the bomb!!!! read more

Wonderful wine selection and a beautiful bar with all the right bottles. I ordered their barrel-aged old fashioned and it was okay--but not great. Just a little off for reasons I couldn't quite figure out. Had a nice glass of Zinfandel though which was very enjoyable. We did the crab cake appetizer that was their special for the night. They were tasty, but not overly remarkable. Split the beet salad, which they brought to the table already split into two bowls which was very nice of them. Again, okay but unremarkable, except for the beets which to me tasted off. For entrees, we both had the truffle mushroom ravioli. Very underwhelmed with this one. Sizable portion, but kind of dry and not something I'd try again. I would definitely come back here to sit at the bar and have an appetizer or two with a glass (or three) of wine. read more

Came here with a group of friends and had a nice dinner. We ordered seafood linguine, chicken and prime rib. Everything was fresh and cooked to a great flavor. Lamb tacos for an appetizer were a great idea, they were delicious. And cream brulee for a desert was a good completion of the dinner. Drinks were good too. Our server was rushing and that was not nice because the restaurant wasn't that busy, half of the tables were empty but he was just rushing - a big turn off. Ambiance: 4.25/5 - Saltyard is a causal yet still a classy and semi-formal place for a client / corporate dinner or even date nights in Burlingame, CA. It looks like it's located in a plaza, full of restaurants and shops too. Interior is spacious, intimate, and lovely. It's quiet, dimly-lit with beautiful dishes and wine glasses laid out for the each of us. Outdoor seating was available too, but might be too windy to sit out there. There's also a separate room with a wall full of wine bottles, feels like I was at a winery in Napa and a perfect spot to grab some pictures. Price: 4/5 - The sea bass is $33.99 before tax, which was the one of the more expensive entrée on the menu. Most entrees range from $20 to $45, but reasonably priced with the food quality. Do not know the total bill, since my manager treated us, so that was nice of him. Service: 4/5 - We came around mid-afternoon, so Saltyard was not that busy. The staffs were kind and attentive. The service was pretty prompt, our water glasses are always full and they provided high chair for my client's kid as soon as they walked in. Food came out relatively quick and hot, and our server would check in with us occasionally to make sure we are good to go. BLUF: Amazing and classic American dinner spot with good food, friendly staffs, and lovely ambiance. I thought the sea bass was delicious, but nothing too mind blowing, so would recommend trying their other entrees as well. I was eyeing their lamb shank with gnocchi too. Make sure to get the Parmesan truffle fries or the sweet potatoes as your side, you will not regret it. This is kind of our go to place for a yummy meal and date night in Burlingame. LOVE the mushroom pasta. The service is really great too. I dropped my napkin at one point and I love when the waitstaff is so attentive that they notice and bring you a new one even without me asking. Dinner at Saltyard was over the top good. We had sea bass and lamb for entrees. Both were generous portions and served at the perfect temperature. If you're into wine, they have a full compliment of Rombauer wines which are my personal favorite. I highly recommend Saltyard if you're close to San Mateo. read more

Three of us went in for dinner. We ordered lamb, ribeye and sea bass. Every item was overcooked. The ribeye was ordered medium and served well done. The lamb was overcooked and dry. The sea bass was dry and mushy in the center which makes me think it was frozen. A side of brussel sprouts which were burned. Our waiter was impatient bordering on rude. We have eaten here before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately not the case this time. We had friend visiting from out of town so it was very disappointing. read more
