I have been here before and thought I would bring our friends that were from out of town. When we arrived, they got a table for us right away. Drinks came out quickly and our meals came out quickly. We ordered 2 ribeyes and they were tasteless. We actually added salt! At 49$ a plate! ..it was really bad. Chewy, and zero flavor. The brussel sprouts were very good, as well as the potatoes. My friend had the seafood risotto, and she was pleased. She thought it was a little too rich. The desserts we ordered were the chocolate cake, sticky toffee pudding cake, and the sea salt caramel gelato. I asked the waiter if there was any fruit on the cake. I don't like fruit on my chocolate cake. He abruptly said no, took out menus, and left. When the desserts came out...there was fruit on my plate. The chocolate cake was terrible. It just tasted like hot sponge. I took one bite and didn't touch it again. The sticky cake was bland as well. But, the gelato was very good. The waiter himself had zero personality. My friend had three meals that she wanted to pick from. She asked the waiter ..out of the three meals what he thought was good..all three she chose were seafood.. his reply was.. "I like meat". And that was it...then she asked.. " well which one is popular amongst your customers?" And he could not respond. Ask for the drinks, my husband had old-fashions, and the other two had dirty martinis ...they all said the drinks were delicious. I was really disappointed in the ribeye and the desserts. But on a positive note, their service was very quick. But I would not go back again. And the waiter needs to be a little bit more personable. read more

Really, really wanted to love it - but it ended up being just okay. Beautiful setting. Massive wine and cocktail selection and they looked fabulous. Had reservations, was greeted quickly and immediately seated at my choice of tables. We were there for an early dinner, service hit all the points but lacked charm. Sometimes I feel as if not ordering alcohol gets us the brush off. Food: Calamari was on point, tempura style and the artichokes were an interesting touch. I requested no pepperoncini because, why(?). Caesar salad was fine but easily could have been bottled dressing. The seafood linguine - the seafood part was great, the portion adequate but the sauce was, in his words, just okay. Risotto - really generous portion, loaded with delicious seafood but the actual flavor was bland. Loved the peppers and spinach throughout it though. Both dishes were smoking hot and nicely presented. If you're looking for a fancy dinner, great wines and room for a large group, sure. Came to dinner here the first time the other night. Around the area, there is street metered parking, and a parking lot right across the street. Parking can be tough in downtown burlingame, so make sure to leave a little early to have enough time to park. Metered parking runs until 6pm Mon-Sat. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. We made reservations and had to wait around 10 minutes until our table was ready. Our family that came a little after us were lost trying to find where we were sitting as the other staff members in the front at the time didn't know where we were seated. No big deal, they ended up finding us, our waiter was nice as he checked up on us multiple times throughout our service. Now let's get to the food! Calamari we thought could have been a little more crispier, but that's just our opinion. Besides that, everything else had delicious flavor to it! The meats were all well seasoned, and the skirt steak literally melts in your mouth! The shrimp also had great flavor to add to the gnocchi dish. To end our delicious meal, we ordered the Toffee Pudding and Chocolate Cake. Hands down, both super delicious, but the Toffee Pudding we couldn't stop talking about! I went here for lunch and had to order a bunch of food to try! The chicken pasta was super yummy very flavorful and I got also the beef, it was super tasty, but possibly a little little bit too overly sweet for the beef in my opinion, but I may actually like it. The mashed potato on the bottom of the beef did balance out the plate. Appetizers I got brussels sprout and fried calamari. They were all both on point. The sauce that came with it was super. It wasn't too busy when we came in, a few tables were taken as well as some seats at the bar, it was decorated for Christmas which was very nice and classy looking. Our table started with the Burrata, it was very nice and refreshing as a starter. For dinner I had the shell pasta with a gluten free substitute, the flavor was nice for the chicken, although the sauce would not stick to the pasta for the life of it unfortunately, so the pasta itself because of that was a bit plain but I'm not blaming them, that's more of a gluten free thing. My mom got the Risotto which she said she liked and my friend got the salmon plate(which looked amazingly tasty) and no bad reviews from them on their dishes. For drinks, I got the blood orange drop which was very tasty, it tasted like a good balance, you could taste the vodka as well as the blood orange, overall it was a good balance in the drink, nice ambiance, and decent food. read more

I was greeted by the host who quickly became my server at the bar- what great service! The ambiance and hip hop music make Saltyard the perfect environment for an evening cocktail and or dinner. I had the ciopino and it was a nice portion; not to mention the broth was just the perfect amount of spicy. If I could change anything it would be a little less salt but other than that it was delicious with a good amount of clams and shrimp. We decided to have dinner around Burlingame and narrowed down to Saltyard. We came in early on Saturday and this place was a little quiet. The staff accommodated us very quickly and we're there at a moments notice when we needed something. We ordered two bottles of wine and had a great evening enjoying all this delicious food. Made a lunch reservation here and the staff was very accomodating. The menu looked amazing and there are options to accommodate any dietary restrictions. I ordered the Risotto. The flavor was awesome and the seafood was cooked great, however every bite had some grains of rice that were still slightly undercooked. It's really disappointing to spend $35 on risotto that is so close to being perfect because it still had crunchy rice bits. I also ordered a delicious whites wine flight, I think the Chardonnay paired best with the Risotto. My wife ordered steak with sweet potato fries. The steak was cooked just how she requested and was surprisingly good. I hate to say that the sweet potato fries was my favorite things I ate. We had an outdoor seating which had heaters outside. It was really cold that night and those heater definitely warmed us up! I order the skirt steak cooked medium rare. It was very flavorful and chewy. We also tried the NY steak and ribeye dishes. They were both equally flavorful and cooked nicely. We also ordered the seafood linguine which was okay. For appetizers, we had ordered sides of mash potatoes and fries. Nothing amazing or special. I didn't enjoy the escargot as well. It was a bit bland. Worst service I've ever experienced. Came with reservations for a party of 9. Sat inside in the back by the wine bottles. We had to flag people down to come take our order. When our entrees came, not all at once either, they did not know who ordered what. Many of our water glasses sat empty for a while many times before being refilled. It's not like the place was packed with customers. There were empty tables nearby. We actually serviced them by passing them the bottles of wine behind us. Smh Food was actually decent though. The husband and I are once again in San Bruno for yet another early morning flight for him tomorrow morning. We both felt like a nice steak dinner was in order. After quite a bit of research on Yelp, we decided on Saltyard in Burlingame and made a reservation for 5:45. They had a nice, covered outdoor seating area, but there was a bit of a chill and it was quite windy so we requested a table inside. The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere, lots of deeply colored woods and warm lighting. There was ample space with several tables and booths. We were seated right away and were brought water quickly (they asked if we'd prefer sparkling or flat). After perusing their menu, we asked for their blood orange drop (a cocktail very similar to a lemon drop, but with blood orange juice) and their 18-month barrel aged Manhattan. We also requested to share their Caesar salad, and that we'd both like their skirt steak entree, medium rare. Our cocktails came quickly. Presentation was gorgeous, and I was glad they didn't do a sugared rim on my glass like is traditionally done on a lemon drop. Both my husband's cocktail and mine seemed very weak on the booze, and his Manhattan had a massive ice cube nearly the size of the entire glass, so the amount of actual cocktail in there seemed very small. It was gone in just a few sips. Our Caesar salad arrived on two plates. At first I was concerned that our server had misunderstood me and had ordered two salads for us. She told me that no, it was just one salad but that they'd split it onto two plates for us. That was kind of nice. The salad was good, lettuce was fresh and the dressing was great. They also included a crispy, crunchy Parmesan/garlic crostini that was very flavorful but seemed a bit stale. Our steaks arrived shortly after and looked great. It came stacked on top of mashed potatoes, veggies, and was topped with onion rings. My steak was kind of folded in half and I was shocked at the size of it. I certainly wasn't expecting the entire skirt steak!! My husband's was substantially smaller but still a very decent size. It wasn't stated on the menu, but the meat was clearly marinated. It was a little too sweet for my likes but my husband enjoyed his. Mine was quite rare (which is preferable to being over done) and had a strange, gooey layer on the outside. Didn't seem like silverskin or steak fat, not sure if it was the marinade or what. The mashed potatoes were great, very smooth and creamy. The veggies were perfect; even the squash was al dente. I liked the onion rings a lot. Overall, the experience was nice, service was great, food was good for the most part but I personally wouldn't order that particular dish again. My husband seemed satisfied, and based on the vibe in the restaurant and the service we received, I'd be willing to go back and try other dishes. Serving up a second review for the Saltyard because I absolutely have to share my opinion of this dandy little resto. Saturday night, let's call it a date night. Crowded with almost all tables full inside and out. Fortunately, I made reservations. Our table was up front near the corner, semi private and perfect. My boo had a Chardonnay as I sipped on a Bourbon neat. Gnocchi for an appetizer. I tackled the Seabass with a creamy mashed potato and asparagus. Outstanding! My companion went for the Seafood Linguini . Let me tell you, they nailed it with their Marinara! Topped off our meal with a Warm Chocolate Cake and Vanilla Gelato. We didn't stop there. Didn't think much of this place. I had the truffle ravioli which was very good. The beet salad was week, arugula with 3 slices of canned beets cut in half and a couple sections of a tasteless mandarin orange. The sliders were tasty but dry and the gnocchi was heavy, not the pillows you want. The service was good, the place is set up for way more people than should be allowed in my humble opinion. I don't know San Bruno's COVID protocols - but if the place had been more crowded, we would not have felt comfortable with other people seated so close by. Booked thru Open Table for my husband's birthday dinner. Party of 4. Everything was absolutely amazing!! I cannot brag about this place enough. We lucked out by finding parking right across the street. We were greeted immediately when we entered by 2 gentlemen. One confirmed our reservation & escorted us to our table in the "wine" room right away. I'm not kidding. There was literally a wall of wine behind us!! Decor was chic, clean & masculine in the best way possible. Service was impeccable!! The hospitality was superior. Our glasses were never empty. We never had an empty dish left sitting at our table. The staff was so attentive. Great customer service seems to be a lost art nowadays but not at Saltyard!! They made us feel super special. I originally ordered the meatballs, but they said it wasn't available, even though it was on the menu. I ended up ordering the soup of the day. The cauliflower soup tasted like they blended the cauliflower and water together. The ceasar salad was kinda sweet which was weird, but not bad. Saltyard was the restaurant I chose for my wife and I to have our anniversary dinner at. It's a nice, mid-upper end restaurant located in Burlingame. We made reservations online but showed up early. They were still able to seat us almost immediately. We loved the outdoor seating option. Covid or not, we will always opt to eat outside if given the chance! The reason I gave this place a 5 star review is primarily due to the service. Between the host, our main waiter and his helping hand, everyone was extremely nice, friendly and pleasant to work with. We enjoyed their professionalism, efficiency and sense of humor! The food was very tasty and filling. You can tell it's fresh and made to order. Our daughter took us to Burlingame for brunch but we ended eating lunch at Saltyard. First time we tried this restaurant and the food was delicious. We had to dine outdoor because we had dogs with us. The servers were nice. For appetizers, we ordered braised lamb tacos with mixed green salad & teriyaki marinated skirt steak (satay) with sautéed spinach & onion rings. My daughter ordered kale quinoa salad with cucumber, cherry tomatoes, avocado, feta cheese, chicken & roasted almonds with Thai chili vinaigrette; I ordered braised lamb with gnocchi, brussels sprouts, English peas, tomatoes, truffle mushroom cream sauce...so so good; our son in law and my hubby both ordered the cheeseburgers with regular fries and truffle fries separately.
