Fantastic brunch - check it out! Met up with a group to have brunch here on Sunday - we all loved the food and the service was great! I ordered the All American breakfast (yes, yes, I know I'm perpetually boring) -- the eggs were done perfectly (over easy for me) and the ham was a sizable slab of deliciousness. The only thing I wish is that I'd asked for dry toast -- my sourdough was slathered with what I can only fathom was margarine (yuck!). He got the country fried steak - which came with the most delicious, sausage-laden gravy I've ever tasted! Both of our hash browns had a top and bottom layer of crispiness which is always awesome. We washed this down with bottle service mimosas and a few of us added on loaded bloody marys (which looked delicious despite me not being a bloody fan). The service was spot on in both keeping the mimosas topped off and delivering more water and pop refills. The night prior, we'd actually stopped in as well and I wasn't a huge fan (the music was too loud for such a small place and drinks were ridiculously hard to get), but I'd definitely come by for brunch again. read more

My mom and I decided to try Salty's on Second while visiting Fairbanks. We ordered the spicy fried cauliflower as our appetizer and it was wonderful and plenty for us to share. I ordered the shrimp and grits and loved the dish. It had the perfect amount of spice, but not overpowering. My mom ordered the Pastrami Melt and was amazed that the bread was toasted perfectly and was not soggy. She was very impressed with her sandwich. We will definitely return before we depart Fairbanks. read more

Drove from anchorage and was recommended this place. We waited for almost an hour for our food and it wasn't very hot when we got it. With that wait you would think the food would be at least warm. I had the dipper didn't have much flavor to it and bread left a weird after taste. Also got the equivalent to spaghetti and bread out of the two I would go with the spaghetti but it wasn't much better than the dipper. But the staff was friendly and we got to sit outside on a nice sunny day. read more

My husband and I enjoyed this place. They have a great selection of foods for lunch/dinner and we will have to go back to try the brunch! Great atmosphere with fun music in the bar area. Best breakfast/brunch in Fairbanks hands down. Numerous things to compliment, but for me the chicken fried steak and gravy were exceptional. I'm very particular about how breakfast gravy should look and taste. Salty's gravy is 100% homemade, with big chunks of ground sausage. The taste is so close to what my mom used to make in our old cast iron skillet. I've tried a lot of gravy over the years and this is by far the best. Once you get past the gravy and dig into the chicken fried steak........ oh man. Hand battered, crunchy, cut with a fork tender meat! Truly the best I've ever had. If you're in the mood for something lighter, they have plenty of options, including healthy, but why would you want healthy when that gravy is so good! read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. We stopped by on a Thursday night. The place is super small. We sat ourselves even though it says to wait to be seated but there was no waitress to be found. The customer service here is the worst! Food and drinks took forever to come out. My buddy ordered shots for the table that never came. And another one asked for ranch for his fries that never came. When I was paying the waitress was hovering over me and even before I could do the survey she grabbed the machine out of my hands and pulled my card out. read more

We came in an hour before close and were efficient with our food orders, knowing they closed soon and trying to be polite. Our food came out 10mins before they closed and as soon as closing time hit, they shut off the music, killing the ambiance, and making for a quiet and awkward dining experience. Very surprised this place doesn't have a higher rating. We came here Saturday based on brunch options. We had the pina colada mimosa to start. Alcohol very generous and the drink was delicious. Only wished they served it in a more mimosa worthy glass. For breakfast, we had the salty special omelette and the country fried steak. Both delicious and we finished the entire plate. Let me preface this review by saying the bartenders and servers are awesome, and the food is great. Their seating policy sucks however. They refused to seat me at a 4 top table once again. I added my name to the wait list then after about 10 minutes the manager told me that she could only put me at a 2 top because others were waiting. So if you're going to have a seating policy other than first-come-firs-serve, publish it. And maybe don't don't laugh at me because I wan to wait on a table in the bar area rather than sit at the bar or sit in the main restaurant. Not nice. I have people proximity issues so I don't want the bar, but I want to watch the game and listen to my music on the jukebox, that's all. read more

This is our 2nd attempt at Salty's. The first time I enjoyed the food but my husband did not. This time, even taking into account the server shortage, it did take longer than expected to be served. The hostess who sat us first wanted to give a table VERY close to another family and the table is one of the very HIGH bar type set up. I requested a regular table as I cannot climb up on those stools. Although I appreciate that she thought I could. We sat in the 'main' hall where we found it to be kind of chilly. The table had a grimy surface, like it had been wiped too many times with a dirty rag but not given a through cleaning. When our food arrived it was not quite cold but not really warm. Hubby had the Louisiana Omelet with toast. He said it was good but could have been served hot. My Caprese Benedict had way too much pesto. That was all I could taste. I was under the impression that pesto was to enhance the flavor of other foods Instead this over powering taste was awful. There was only one slice of mozzarella on the one English muffin. And it was cold. The sauce was starting to congeal. The grits were warm but had large lumps and got cold very quickly. Our server was doing the best she could, she was pleasant but over taxed with serving multiple areas. She could not give the attention to each table they deserve. It would have been nice if even the hostess could have taken our drink order. At least offered coffee. I don't think we will return. I would like to but your service needs to bump up. Oh. And I ordered the Bloody Mary (Maria) with everything and only received the regular one. It was even in the receipt so I asked the server to change it. That was on the bartender. The servers were friendly and very helpful. The food was good. The spinach artichoke dip was so rich and creamy. Our favorite by far! I got the tottelloni and she got the cheese burger. The pasta had fresh veggies and was delicious. The burger was a little over cooked. Nothing to write home about, but good. They have quite a selection of beers on tap too! Usually pretty busy for Sunday Brunch. I reached out via FB to see if they would take a reservation and was happy to hear they do; strongly suggest reservations. Parking is the pitfall- very little parking along the building and even less street parking. Staff has been pleasant each time I've been and food has been perfect. read more

We came to Salty's with high hopes and left a bit disappointed. First off, everything was a bit too salty for our taste.. I guess they live up to their name. The chicken pot pie was two biscuit crusts (one on bottom and one on top), was mostly potatoes, and had very little chicken. We missed the flaky crust of a good pot pie. I had the Louisiana pasta which was alright, but I have had better. It's definitely got a bit of heat so if you don't like spice, beware. The cheesecake was the best part of the meal. It was the perfect balance between light/fluffy and heavy. The service was good with lovely hosts. I wouldn't say not to go here, but our meal wasn't anything to write home about. read more

First time in Fairbanks as we were on an Alaskan Cruise tour as part of our land portion before we sailed. We came in a day early & went downtown on our own. As we walked around there were other options available but decided we would give it at try. HUGE mistake! We were met by an indifferent hostess who immediately shuttled us to the back of the restaurant where we sat for over 15 minutes with no one stopping at our table. We started to leave and saw the bar was busy and there was an open table, so we seated ourselves where were finally served. Jozie was our server and she was prompt and courteous. The food was average at best. My wife's Buffalo Chicken wrap was room temperature, but we hadn't eaten most of the day and it was getting late so we stuck with it. Thinking it was a fluke because of it being a Saturday night, on Sunday, our tour group returned to Fairbanks and the guide was directing our large group to a small handful of other places downtown. Hedging our bet, we thought Salty's would be less crowded and went back. When we were seated we noticed Jozie was going to be our server again. This made us very optimistic as she did a fine job the night before. Sadly, our experience was even worse. Our 4 top explained we were on a tight schedule when we ordered and even prepaid our bills so we could get back to the bus upon finishing our meal. After several inquiries and 45 minutes without our meal we had to leave to return to the bus. This is NOT a reflection on Jozie, she was doing the best she could. It is the kitchen and management. I would avoid Salty's on 2nd at all costs unless you have an infinite amount of time to waste and don't mind average bar fare. This was by far the worst dining experience in recent memory and the lone blemish on an otherwise wonderful first trip to Alaska. read more

First of all, the music is a perfect blend of old, new and remixed. They have a "big kids" and "with kids" section so you can enjoy it with anyone in your party. Food is an 11 out of 5 :) Definitely recommend coming in for ANY meal, but breakfast was awesome. read more
