This place is a pizza shop on one side and a more formal restaurant on the other. It all started great and we had heard good things about the restaurant and loved the ambience. Very dark and a true, family-owned Italian style. Nice tasting large, soft rolls to start the meal. A "Shark bites" special appetizer that had a nice sauce but the deep frying was a little over the top for me. Too much breading and too crunchy. The salads were very good and the bleu cheese was excellent. Next came a few slices of their NY style pizza. It had great potential and I think next time I go here I would order a full pizza and the blue cheese salad and be very happy. The pizza we got tasted a bit like it was reheated the next day and was little to well done. Spaghetti and meatballs was very good and I do like their sauce overall. The low point of the meal of the seafood "zuppa" special. it was basically shrimp, crab and clams with a nice tomato sauce over pasta. The seafood was disappointing. The shrimp was semi-fresh, but unfortunately the best part. The crab-like product tasted like it came from a can to me and the clams were approaching disgusting. My wife and I each got a semi-rotten clam that tasted like it had about a teaspoon of sand in it. Sadly, I ended paying 22 dollars for this dish which left an even sandier taste in my mouth. We rarely complain at a restaurant, but my wife did mention the clams in a very nice way....something like "Everything was great, but the clams were a little dirty and gritty, just thought I'd let you know..." Our waitress (who I think was the owner's mother) did not like hearing this and replied, "yes that's how clams are" which is complete BS of course...This wasn't my first time eating clams and they can be cleaned properly. Anyway she didn't say anything but was clearly mad for the rest of the meal and couldn't look me in the eyes for the remainder of the evening. I understand pride, but you should listen to your customers if they politely complain about something and not take it so personally. I feel a little bad giving a nice family-owned place 2 stars, but they deserved it for this meal. I would go here again and order rich, cheesy dishes. I bet they make a great baked ziti or lasagna and I would love to try a pizza (not by the slice). If it turns out a little better for me, I will change my rating to 3 stars. read more

I usually get cheese steak with fried onions to-go but I would like to eat-in one day also I recommend getting a cheesesteak card buy 10 cheesesteaks get one free not a bad deal plus cheesesteak are about $8 and the are a decent size also I think the bread is baked right there which is another plus read more

My favorite dishes are the strawberry chicken walnut salad with the orange cognac dressing, the chicken Salvatore with broccoli (the vodka sauce is awesome), the chicken Marsala and the boneless chicken bites. As a FORMER customer of samarios I will never be eating here again and also will be letting everyone I know not to either. Customer service is absolutely horrible the owner or manager whichever he is is extremely unprofessional and rude and does not know how to speak to people at all. My mother and I occasionally deliver for doordash and my mother went in to pick up an order and was spoken down to and then when she said something about the way he was speaking to her he told her to leave and he was going to have another dasher come. Not only is this rude to my mother but it also is an inconvenience to his customer that she was going to deliver for as they then have to wait for another delivery driver to come. He also doesn't treat his employees well either clearly being that I was in there the other day and he was speaking to the girl as if she was dumb when it was clear she was a new hire and still learning the job. Doesn't know how to run a business properly. read more

Found a new favorite cheese steak. Love em all but the chicago steak and cheese is by far my fav. They use chunks of steak. Its prime rib packed in a homemade hoagie bun topped with cheese.. delicious. The only way it could get better is if they served itwith a side of gravy or au jus for dipping. YUM read more

The food here is excellent. I love their cheesesteaks and that they have so many different types. The Georgia with the steak, provolone cheese, and sweet mild chicken chunks is definitely the best they have, but they have so many others that I like such as the New Orleans, Texas, Syracuse, and more. They also have great steak and cheese fries that use the same steak that goes on the cheesesteaks. I've always received great service from them and they're good with deliveries. I've eaten in the dining room once and was impressed with how nice it was inside for a place that I've mostly eaten cheesesteaks from, but they seem to have quite a bit more on the menu. read more

We order here for lunch sometimes. Their hoagies are always very dry. It's also a roll of the dice on whether or not you'll get a fresh hoagie bun. The only one I've found that isn't really dry is the cheesesteak gold and that's because it's smothered in sauce. I made the mistake of getting the chicken gold today, and it was gross. The chicken was pink on the inside, there was very little sauce, and the bun was verging on stale. I would expect more from a place that charges almost $10 for their hoagies. read more

Firstly, romantic lighting is a stretch for the atmosphere. We were seated in the booth closest to the window, in daylight, and need to use the waiters penlight to view the menu. Perhaps darker was better, however, it did not hide the torn seats, worn interior or the filthy highchair and DIRTY DISH we were served, but I digress. Worst customer service Ive seen in a "family owned" business is a very, very long time. Our order was simple... wings , fries for the kiddos to come out first as we waited for two trays of pizza, double crust steak and cheese and classic red. Should be a breeze, right. Not quite. As people seated after us received their entrees, we STILL sat, waiting for our "appetizers" for 30 minutes! Our waiter approached to see how everything was at which time my husband responded, "extremely SLOW", to which he responded, "I know, I am so sorry....I told them." They wings finally arrived, sans fries. Apparently, they had FORGOTTEN to submit them. They arrived a few minutes later at which point we again questioned the delay. "I apologize, I told them about it... you waited over 30 minutes, they should have been out in 15." Fine... and we wait. The Double crust arrives and the cheese is already seized in a pool at the side, as if it had been sitting. Disgusted by this point, my husband tells the waiter and he says he is going to notify the manager and have them come over to address it. The red comes out and while not "ice cold", it too seems luke warm, to the point where our 1 year old is able to touch pizza and take a bite without cooling...yummy. the waiter again apologizes and says he is so sorry, please dont be upset with service, he isnt the one preparing the food and there is only so much he can do...stellar. Fast forward to paying the bill when my husband asks if we will be seeing the manager. Waiter replies "I told them in the back." *** It bares mentioning at this time that both the Hostess ( who had to travel from the bar at the rear to the front to greet guests) and the Owner ( in a jersey) have been seated about thirty feet away from us at the bar throughout our meal... outstanding. The waiter approaches them at the bar to apparently relay our experience at which time I note the expression on the face of the "manager" sauntering our way. Suffice it to say, our food was NOT cold, we did NOT order the fries as an appetizer (???) and the tables who were served before us may have ordered something that took less prep time (Apparently the "fine cuisine" of wings and fries require more prep time that authentic, homemade italian dishes... I shudder.) The manager caustically says she will remove the steak and cheese pizza from the bill (we ate 2 slices) and takes the boxed leftovers from table and returns it to the kitchen. The owner in a follow up discussion goes on to hurl EXPLETIVES and insults at my husband in a conversation that, lets just say, ends in a LESS than amicable parting of the ways. VERY "Classy"... but perhaps on par with their idea of quality food and service. We'd ordered here, many, many times in the past but this time chose to dine in on our way through. The cheesesteaks at Samario's are delicious and unique.Samario's has some wacky combinations of topping for their cheesesteaks.I had a cheesesteak at Samario's with eggs and bacon on it. The combinations get crazier! The cheesesteaks are named after different states. The topping compliment each state. I also so the North Carolina cheesesteaks which included BBQ sauce, bacon and onion rings.Samario's also has a Virginia cheesesteak.I haven't been to a restaurant with so many combination of cheesesteaks like Samario's.Samario's has a takeout section or you can dine in the restaurant. I ate my cheesesteaks in the restaurant.Samario's has a nice family atmosphere. The employees were kind. The restaurant has a nice vintage old school Italian feel. I only ate the cheesesteaks at Samario's.Samario's has other Italian food on the menu. If you're in the Scranton,PA area, stop by Samario's for cheesesteaks!You will not be disappointed.If I'm visiting the Scranton, PA area, getting a cheesesteak from Samario's is mandatory! read more

Samario's has one of those pizzas that could be awesome if it weren't so inconsistent. I've had phenomenal sqaure pizza that could rival Maroni's. A few weeks later, that same pizza will be tough to finish. Greasy and runny. However, more often than not, it's above average for the area. I know Samario's may be predominantly a pizza place, but the Cheesesteaks is where it's at!! This place has the best cheesesteak in NEPA hands down. On a Weekend night they do get busy so there will be a wait, but you can't rush perfection!
