Loved this place! The location and parking is near all the shops and easy. The restaurant nice, clean, and inviting. I'm giving this place three stars for right now. I always give a place a second try when I don't have a excellent experience the first time. I arrived with my friend around 4:00. I have driven by here many times and have been dying to try it out. The waiter was great. Very nice and helpful with the menu, and even made a few segestions. He was very attentive through our entire meal but then again there was only one other person in there. My friend ordered the taco salad, served in a tortilla bowl and he devoured it extremely fast. I ordered the appetizer sampler platter and exchanged the onion rings and chicken strips for buffalo wings. It came with mozzarella sticks that were pretty over cooked and it also tasted as if the oil needs to be changed in the fryer. The platter also came with a cheese quesadilla that was burnt as well. The wings were just ok. The waiter came and asked if we liked it and I said yes not wanting to be rude and he made a desert suggestion. Like I said before the waiter was great. First of all, thank you Yelp for helping us find this place for breakfast this morning. It did not disappoint, in fact the two of us were very, very pleased. The service could not have been better: friendly, but not annoyingly so, and prompt at every turn. We tried two of the breakfast specials, the chile verde omelet and the chorizo omelet. Both great. The chile verde has a nice, homemade quality and enough pork stuffed in and upon the omelet to write home about (or Yelp about). We both had the country potatoes: very good. The coffee cups stayed full; I like that. Sorry, no pics, I was too busy eating! I seldom eat a large breakfast, but when I do I want it to be a home run. Sammy's, you delivered. I realize this success relates to only two items on the menu, but the overall experience, efficiency, courtesy, promptness, and food quality leads me to a 5-star review. the best breakfast i had in a long time....i was there because it was highly recommended by another member of our church...and this place as a whole exceeded my expectations...very friendly staff that seems everybody knows....because every body that was coming was acting surprise to see the servers and other employees...this place feels like eating at home,cus of the taste of the food and as i was toll by our server they try to make everything fresh for a home like taste...he was very attentive cant remember hes name but has to do with a fish,lol...and he made some recommendations on what turned out to be so good and lots of food for a small price...i believe we got the Sammy's breakfast special...we got 2 eggs,bacon, home fried potatoes and i half of a Belgian waffle, biscuits and gravy were one of the choices to....and all was $4.95...cant beat that, overall we got a good experience...and i think we found a new place to have a good and cheap breakfast every day... read more

Had to pick up my 8 year old granddaughter from day care as she hurt her leg. She was hungry so we stopped at Sammy's. She limped in but during breakfast she moved the wrong way and started crying as she felt excoriating pain. Well the staff immediately came over to help as well as some customers. They brought her an ice pack, packed up our food and expatiated my check so I could get her home! They even carried her out to the car for me!. I want to thank them for being so caring and helpful but really the breakfast was outstanding and the price was very reasonable. My favorite place! Horrible!!! We decided to give it a shot, We walked in during dinner rush, to find 2 of the booths occupied (rest of the place was dark). Floor was dirty, and smelled funny. We were seated, and noticed the servers station with condiments sitting out what looked for hours with no refrigeration. As we waited 15 minutes for our waitress, we noticed the cook was not wearing proper outfit, and looked dirty. The last straw was when we saw the waitress spoon some soup into a bowl, then microwave it, then served it!!!!! That tells me right there the food wasn't being kept at a safe temperature to avoid bacteria. We then got up and walked out, with not even a look from the waitress. I went to Sammy's Cafe on 1/17/13 with my mom. I wanted to try something different and local other than Ihop or Dennys. The place was nice. Its small and it wasn't loud or over packed. the food was good. They have a variety of mexican breakfast such as huevos rancheros and chorizo. I will deffinaltey go back. read more

Sammy's Café, very bad and arrogant management!!! On Tuesday afternoon I told two of my dear co-workers to go with me and try a very good Restaurant, that they never tried, but I had tried once with my supervisor. We got to Sammy's Restaurant and we were looking forward to try the 1.25 Tuesday tacos with side of guacamole and beans. The server Sherry said that the hard tacos were 2.75 each and I responded that the menu shows 1.25 on Tuesday, she said that they can't do it since they haven't "fixed" the prices for the hard tacos on the menu. At that moment I started to get upset and I told her that it was misleading, that they have to reprint that part. She said that she was the manager and really it was nothing they can do, either I get the regular menu or the hard tacos for 2.75 each; I said I won't have anything but I will complain with the Chamber of Commerce about this "misprint" and bad service. She went to talk to Nick the manager and they refused to honor the menu; she even mention that they are doing so well in the restaurant and they are always super busy; and they never have had this problem before thought. I did refuse to eat in a place that mislead costumers and a manager that won't come out and talk to you about a problem....very coward attitude. I told Sherry that I will send the complaint to the Upland Chamber of Commerce and I will tell my co-workers at the district about this bad experience. I hope they reprint the menu or the owner Sammy and the Manager Nick could change the attitude, obviously they don't have to since Sherry's own words they are doing super well they don't need any more customers! Good luck in Upland and surrounding area, we have so many restaurants to go to, that maybe my co-workers from the district might see this complain and they will lose one or two more customers! Every time I come here the service is excellent and the food is fantastic. They have great variety and everything from there American food to there Mexican food is tasty! I was finally provoked to leave a review after arriving 30min before closing. I was not expecting much considering I use to be a server and I know the cooks get mad but they served us as if we where the first customers of the day! This review is low basically ,because of a charge added to my bill without telling me until i asked while i was paying my tab..On the day of my visit i ordered a chicken salad,and i was asked if i wanted cheese,or garlic bread that came with the salad.when i recieved my or there was suffifient amout of chicken but not much else.Also there was one small slice of the garlic bread. which i ate in a few bites,so i asked for another slice,which i received.Upon paying my tab i noticed they charged me $1.99 for the bread.I feel they should have advised me of the extra charge for one slice of bread..i mention this to two waiters that were talking to each other,that a t that price,a loaf of that bread would come out to about $30.00.They just laughed. read more

Went here for the first time with my dad on 7/17/15 for breakfast and was not disappointed. My dad and I love a good breakfast and Sammys is one of the best. My dad had the Denver omelet which he devoured along with his hash browns and toast. I had eggs, sausage, and hash browns and toast. There sausage is cooked just right not greasy and my dad and I have never had better hash browns crispy all the through no soft or partially uncooked spots. Service is friendly and attentive as our coffee cups were constantly topped as we ate. Food here is reasonably priced, ordered some food to go for my wife and two kids the total including my dads and my breakfast was 42$ which is not bad for five people and very reasonable given the quality of the food. Will definitely come back again and so will my dad, who was so impressed he took a to go menu to call orders in for himself. read more

Ordered an omelet bacon and cheese omelet for $8.49, told them hold the cheese and add ham. When I got the bill they charged me $8.49 plus .95 for the ham. They have an omelet on the menu for $8.99 and pick 4 items. I asked why was I not charged $8.99 and they said if you order 2 item omelet and add one item it is extra .95. Under their system it is more expensive to order a 2 item omelet (8.49 plus .95) than a 4 item omelet for $8.99. The waitress said there was nothing they could do.
